KyverianLevel 6, Mason the Wood Cutter HP 20 | STR 12 | MAG 0 | SKL 11 | SPD 9 | DEF 8 | RES 7 Iron Axe, MT 8, HIT 70 There was a look of shock as the dark magic blasted through a man simply dressed in farmer’s clothing, rending his torso from his legs faster than the blade that sliced deeply into the side of the burly axeman.
Mason: 6/20
“Graaah!” he cried out as the pain inflicted on his person ripped through his body. He staggered away before two men armed with pitchforks attempted to spear the captain, only for the burly arms of the two guardsmen to sling about their necks in a clothesline. “I got this guy!” exclaimed Argil as he pulled his opponent aside in a bicep chokehold and threw himself over the bar counter.
The axeman began swinging his woodcutting tool in a furious, wild-eyed panic, cutting dents through thick pillars.

That is, he came across Fila and Riley.
“Hey!” he exclaimed as he aimed at the dark mage, “I’ve never seen you before. What’s your angle?! Are you here to help?!”
"Yes." said Fila, as she threw a blast of magic at him and pushed Riley behind her. "But not here to help you. Die now~" she continues, grinning as her eyes met his.

The attack was nothing to laugh at, but the Nohrian captain rebounds from the hit, taking a moment to recuperate his breath through regulating his breathing. It was, for the most part, the calm his nerves and to reclaim his battle focus for the fight. His growing rage pin-pointed directly onto the wood cutter.

Once Kyverian took his deep breath, he soon charged forward with the blade still clutched with two hands firmly holding the blade. He swings with his honed might, aiming to cleave his blade right through Mason.
FilaThe dark magic cut through the archer’s shoulder, causing him to let out a loud roar of pain. With shaky arms, two arrows were pulled from his quiver as he raised his bow to aim at Fila.
However...

There was a woosh of wind that passed the dark mage’s ear, striking the archer between his eyes.
“Hey, hey, hey,” Riley grumbled, “Pushing me behind you? Who d’ya think you are, kid? A hero?” She slid past the mage, tugged the knife from the archer’s forehead, then wiped the blood on his cloak, “Geez.”
There was a thunder of footsteps down the hallway downstairs, and another pair of rebels appeared on the ground floor.
“C’mon,” the bartender grunted as she moved to the staircase, “Can’t let the frontliners get stabbed in the back.”

However, the struggle was far from over as two more men appeared from the hallway. They wore Nohrian fatigues, only that there was no symbol of Nohr upon their person. Both men unsheathed their swords and approached the captain as his back was turned.
"... Don't call me kid." Fila says, voice sounding rather distinctly like she's sulking. Nevertheless, she steps to the side to allow Riley past to retrieve her knife, following after her with long strides. "But thank you." she says a moment afterwards, shadows once more coiling around her hand.

The cleaving strike wasn't enough to keep him satisfied. It was a momentary appeasement for the long-held rage for those that discarded the Nohrian banner for self-gain. The moment Mason had gurgled and struck the ground was the exact moment that Kyverian moved with haste to grab one of the nearby stools. Only one of them was picked up, deciding to take the initiative and distract one of the coming traitors while he leapt for the other. The stool is thrown without bothering to aim, as it only served its purpose of distracting Harding while Kyverian's focus shifted to Milligan.
Harding: 5/22 Milligan: 13/21KyverianFila The chair crashed into the wall inches from Harding’s face, yet the blow he had sustained from Fila’s blast caused blood to gush from his side.
“The fascists...!” Harding coughed as he held his bleeding wound, “We need to warn the town...!”
At the same time, Milligan felt the cold steel pierce into his ribcage, only that the wound remained shallow. “Urgh! Damn you!” He swung his sword down at Kyverian!

The sword slash was rewarded with a blade to the shoulder. The captain could do nothing but hiss at the pain. However, to his surprise, Riley was able to come to his rescue. A momentary side glance is taken in her direction, the type of gaze that spoke for itself: "I am not a kid." But his side glancing was cut brief, as action required he make his move. "Stay at a distance, I'll draw their attention." Unlike Riley, however, Kyverian was garbed to take damage. There was no telling what the men could do to an unarmored bartender. With a deft movement forward, Kyverian went to finish Milligan with yet another horizontal slash, aimed to cleave the man from his torso.
Seeing that Kyverian had Milligan handled, Fila directed her attention and firing solutions towards Harding. "Sorry friend. From where you're standing, this must seem like some truly terrible luck. Truth is, the game was rigged from the start."

The two rebels were dispatched into a bloody mess, and moments after the noise and the chaos, there was a brief moment of silence. Riley turned her head to see the results of the other Loyalists.
The tavern was clear of hostiles, leaving a very amused elf quite surrounded by the two burly guardsmen.
“Woohoohoo!” the elf cheered with a clap of his hands, “Bravo! Brava! Quite the display of violence, my friends! Surely the Hoshidans have plenty to fear from Nohrian mercenaries!”
“You’ve always been an eyesore, Weston,” Riley grunted as she neared him with her knife pointed between his brows, “You know what we’re here for.”
“Now, now!” he laughed with a wave of his hands, “I can count hundreds of things you are here for, but it amounts to how badly you want it!”
The bartender rammed her knife into the couch and split it open, causing the cotton to spill out of it like guts from the stomach. A quick glance at the damage, and the elf seemed to sober. “Aha, that badly?”
“Two things,” she continued, “Help von Brandt, then tell me where that bastard is.”
“OOH! Language!” the elf exclaimed with his hands to his mouth, “You couldn’t mean for me to divulge information about my otherworldly guest? Why, that is quite the traitorous act!” He glanced to the two others who stood amongst a pool of the blood of their enemies, “Loyalty is important, wouldn’t you two agree?” KyverianFila

There wasn't any rebels left, from the looks of it. All the traitors had been dealt with. Only a single, long glare aimed around his vicinity is made. The once jet-black armor was stained with dashes of red, both his own and the blood of the enemies he had carved through. His hands still gripped the iron sword tightly, the rush of battle hadn't quite left him. The question was heard from the Elf, yet the Captain gave no response just yet. The blade is soon sheathed, his mind remembering each slash he made, as well as the slashes made at him, until Riley came along.
"Enough banter. Time is of the essence."
His eyes turn over towards Fila briefly before returning to the Elf. There was no use in expending more words within their current environment. They had slaughtered the traitors and obtained their target, Kyverian was satisfied with the results.Ursula
Fila nods professionally to Kyverian. More work like this might one day repair their relationship, but that would not be solved today. For now, they both could be content with a job well down.
Fila looks up at the elf's barb, though her expression doesn't change. "So you're saying your useless to us, then?" she murmurs, as a grin breaks across her face. There was no doubt that, if given permission, she would reduce him to a pile of gore.
"Perhaps I would respect your contract if you were a neutral party, but loyalty supersedes exaltation of loyalty."

“Captain. Ms. Filigree.” The quiet voice comes from pale Janette, who now stood next to the dark mage. “I desire to explain more, but...” she murmured, “... He is a little... too important to remove at this time...”
“Kuu! Music to my ears! I expect nothing less of my glorious patrons!” the elf grinned broadly with a prim clap of his hands, “Let’s deal with issue number one, then! Where is the witch now, hmm? I imagine her to be skulking around somewhere!”
“Here.”
Out from between Kyverian and Fila , Ursula’s frail, shivering form appeared from their shadows. Her gaunt face had become nearly skeletal, her limbs almost robbed of muscle. Her former unit let out quiet gasps at their ex-captain’s debilitated state.
“Fraulein von Brandt...!” Lucas stammered as he reached out to her, only for his hand to be pushed back by Ashton.
“Hold, soldier,” the captain muttered with eyes set on the scene before them.
“Ohhhh, you...” the elf pawed a hand in the air toward her, “... Lovely little thing! Deteriorating before our very eyes. How utterly tragic for my guest to let you rot like this.” He placed a hand on his chest, “I take it you’re here to rob me of some of my youth?”
Moments after he had spoken, a dark tendril wrapped around the elf’s skinny body as a dark mist appeared between the two of them. The effect was immediate as Ursula’s body began to regain fleshly mass, and her naturally deathly face became a little less bony than before. Her silver hair remained, although a single blonde tuft had regained its color.
The elf was dropped back on the seat of the couch, looking none the older. “Oof!” he grunted, “Goodness, have you ever felt such a thing before?! Uncalled for!”
The witch lifted her right hand, then raised her left, which, much to the company’s surprise, was a mechanical prosthetic arm, manipulated by the darkness that resided in her body. “... At least I am no longer dying,” she said dryly, she held her prosthetic up to the elf, “Now, tell us, where is the Doctor?”
“Ah, here we go,” the elf sighed and shrugged his shoulders, “He’s already left for Hoshido. Did NOT say why, but that’s some bad blood territory for the lot of you, eh?”
“Damn it!” the witch hissed under her breath and slammed her foot on the ground irritably.
“Fraulein von Brandt,” said Ashton as he seized the elf by his shoulder, “We’ll take it from here and arrest him. He’s a high-value target.”
“Do as you please,” Ursula grunted, she turned toward the rest of the company, “... For now, we sweep the surrounding area. It is in our best interest to eliminate the last of the renegade scum.”
“We’re on it,” spoke Riley with a bob of her head, “Loyalists, split up and move out.” Immediately, the rest of them dispersed in different directions.
Finally, the witch set her eyes on the two, allowing them to soften.
“... Words fail me,” she said with a tight-lipped grin, which quickly returned to an icy frown, “But we’ve a job to finish.”

Stifled rage remained behind his gaze. The Elf's importance wasn't lost upon Kyverian. Orders were orders, however. He would not submit the Elf to his own justice but instead, Ursula and her band's justice. The blood-soaked blade is soon rubbed with cloth pulled from one of the corpses' clothing, wiping the stained blood as clean as he could. One last inspection is made onto the blade before it is soon sheathed.
"Captain Von Brandt, I believe my services are no longer required here. Do keep me posted on your next endeavor." The bartender is given his attention before he bows, removing the heavily armored helmet from his head. "Thank you for the assistance." He hadn't forgotten the debt he incurred this day, but it was the least of his worries. The helmet is soon donned once more, another glance made to Fila . "Make yourself scarce, until our interests align once more."
Kyverian rolls his shoulders back, fists tightly clenched as he proceeds to briskly make his way out. They knew where to find him, once they had gotten the information from the Elf.
Fila watches him go, an aloof regret on her face. "Mm. Of course, Kyverian." She sighs, turning back to Ursula. "Captain. I will remain if you have further need of me." She was charging by the hour. "However, if not, I also need to return to Marcarth. I am always willing to take jobs from a repeat customer, however." She was absolutely not, in this environment, going to admit how incredibly relieved she was that Ursula was better. Not well, obviously, but better. She had taken a liking to the witch.
She flips her book closed, setting it back at her belt and crouching down next to one of the corpses to pick through its pockets. Regardless of whether Ursula still needed her services, loose money was meal money.
