Ethan charged at his childhood friend. His blade, backed by unending fury. This man was no longer a friend. This man was an enemy. This man was going to die. Akemi struck the woman in front of her and Ethan ducked under her bounding axe. Campbell lifted his weapon in defense.
Ethan's attack om Campbell, chance of 89:2vkQsg7N1d100
Campbell's move was false. He struck out, swinging the blade towards Ethan. The wanderer parried it aside. His blade pulled back.
Soldiers drug Ethan from his home.
He snatched Campbell by the neck.
He was forced on his knees and threatened with death if he didn't comply with joining an army and fighting a war he wanted no part of.
Ethan locked eyes with Campbell, sliced his leg, and headbutted the man to the ground. His sword, cast aside. The wanderer fell with him.
"May god have mercy on you." Ethan hissed as his hands wrapped around Campbell's neck. "Cause I sure won't."
Campbell thrashed as the life faded from his eyes. Weak hands found Ethan's gray eyes and tried to poke them free. The wanderer simply slammed his victim's head against the ground. Resistance grew weaker. The coward's hands fell weak. Ethan bashed his head once more, to be sure he wasn't faking.

Jessop's head turned at the sight of Ethan leaping over their defense, yet as she turned to aid him, a bolt of lightning flew past her face.
"Now, now, you've already failed your commander," Mai cooed with a beckoning hand, "We can't have you interrupt their final moments together." She cracked her neck to the side, "Besides, we're not done, are we?"
With a grit of her teeth, the soldier lashed her naginata out at the witch.

" I wouldn't try anything too aggressive right now, sweet cheeks. " In an instant the three of them had been able to neutralize most of the opposition at the stables. Akemi was relieved there was only one opponent left as opposed to the several dozens she expected at this point.
Freean might have been a career soldiers but even he knew he stood no chance against these three all by himself. With a groan he put down his Axe, raising his hands above his head.
Just to make sure he wasn't going to attack them from behind Akemi walked up to the man and snatched his Axe away. " You lucky bastard! You make it out of this one alive and I get my hands on a fine Axe such as this one. its a win-win if you ask me! " Not even someone like Akemi was cold hearted enough to kill an unarmed combatant. After all they where short on time.
" We got what we came here for. is there anything else on the top of your list? " She called out from afar not feeling like interrupting Ethan's moment with Campbell. He was making damn sure the Wyvern Rider was out for good so there was little doubt in her mind this would be the end for him.
There was a hint of anger left in him. Ethan didn't want to leave Freeman alive, but he figured this is what set him aside from Nohr. There needed to be some sort of distance between the two. However, claiming the man's weapon put an idea in Ethan's head. He turned around. "Hey!" He shouted. "Stable master." "I'm here!" The man eased out of his hiding place. "I'm not armed."
"Take me to his wyvern." Ethan demanded. "His wyvern?" "Did I stutter?" Ethan asked. "No, no sir."
He lead Ethan out the rear exit. The wyvern sat, tied to a poll. "All he had to do was untie it and it's ready to go." "How hard are they to control?" The wanderer asked. "Approach it carefully, hold out your hand. It uh, helps if you smell like the previous owner." "That shouldn't be a problem."
Ethan approached Campbell's wyvern with his hand extend. Its snout stretched to meet it. Its breath was warm, moist, and uncomfortable. The dead man's scent lingered on Ethan's hands and it seemed to help his case.

After binding Freeman and Jessop down with ropes, Mai lay the headless bodies of Campbell and Connor beside each other. It was messy business, but it was necessary that Nohr knew that they had failed.
Those Nohrians who survived this encounter would report to their top brass. There was no doubt in Mai's mind that there would be an even greater manhunt for the rogue Ice man, but that was a struggle for another day.
Ethan was finally free of Campbell. Of course, given his position as captain, they managed to loosen the grip of Nohr on Hoshido, and unless Nohr was quick to act, Hoshido may quickly retake the fort for their own cause.
However, they didn't do this operation under Hoshido's jurisdiction. Sure, Akemi and herself were Hoshidans by citizenship, but by no means was this an assigned task by them. This event would be noted by the Hoshidan officials that a mercenary force had operated on its own to rescue their comrade from the clutches of Nohr.
One thing was for sure, their faces would be on the King Garon's personal to-kill list.
"Ahh, how scary," Mai murmured at the thought. "I can't believe we actually accomplished this..." She looked to Akemi and sighed, "You really pulled through for us, Akemi. I'm so proud of you."

" Think we can all ride it out of here? Clayton and the others might be looking for us. " From the looks of it Ethan had made a new friend in that Wyvern that seemed wary of its new master. What an odd creature, she thought of the winged lizard noticing it was much docile than the rest of the monster she'd come across before.
Mai was taking some extra precautions ensuing neither of them would get stabbed in the back so the Oni helped her out tie up their ' prisoners'. " All in a days work! Now if I heard you right I think you mentioned something about taking this woman alive? Got any plans for her, Watanabe-san? " Right now the ideas Akemi had on her mind weren't exactly merciful. After being put trough that hell she wanted to humiliate Nohrians in order to teach them a valuable life lesson.
Of course even if Mai was joking she felt this could make these tied up folks feel slightly uncomfortable. For the sake of making sure there would be peace and quite she gagged that Freeman fellow.
"I don't know." Ethan said as the wyvern's rough tongue played along his flat palm. Its tickle almost pulled a laugh from the grave wanderer, but Akemi's pressing words snapped him back to an unkind reality. "I'd try riding it, but I don't want to put you two in danger. Gods know I've risked the both of you enough and I'm not just going to try flying out of here on my own." He turned to the cowering civilian. "You there, do these things go in doors?"
"Uh, yes sir. It might be a bit cramped, but you can definitely take it inside. I don't know how long it will listen to you though. These things... They take time."
"Yeah well, time is all I have. Mai, Akemi we have an exit strategy planned? Or are we just going to fight our way out of here? I'm fine with either."

"I'm taking her in for interrogation," replied Mai to Akemi's question, "After that, I have plans to have her work for me. I don't think King Garon would take in Nohrians who failed their mission. From what I hear, they're dead to their king." She placed a hand on the wound on her side as they began to walk toward the exit. "In fact... I think Freeman wouldn't have much of a future in Nohr, either, so we'll take both of them under my care. I'm merciful like that, you know?"
Outside, Mai traded wary glances between Ethan and the wyvern as her face grew pale. What on earth was he doing? Wasn't that Campbell's wyvern?
Oh, well. That creature was better off with Ethan than a dead master.
The witch let out a long, tired sigh as she started speaking, "... Right. Our exit is in... front..." Her movements became sluggish as she attempted to point someplace, "... Raziel... has horses waiting... in... front. Ooogh..." Suddenly, she collapsed on her side.
The damage she had sustained from Jessop's attack finally weighed down on her, on top of the fatigue she has been operating under. Adrenaline was an amazing thing, despite its temporary effect.
"... Ouch... haha... I'm so exhausted," she looked up toward Ethan and Akemi and grinned sheepishly, "You two... try to get me and my prisoners back to Kitsuki. I want us all to be sharing a dumpling dinner after we sort things out..."

" You see originally it wasn't our plan to make it this far. This was a snatch and grab not an assassination. To hell with it, we'll wing it like how I always do. " Since Ethan had his hands full with that Wyvern it was up to Akemi to carry Mai on her back, their two prisoners could wait until they got her somewhere safe. It was a good thing she was light ... for a woman of her age. Jessop and Freeman where tied to a pack mule and lead outside.
" Don't worry about it. " Huffing and puffing all off them made it outside the Fort. The defenders where in disarray and this allowed them to slip by relatively undetected. Word spread that their commander had been killed and no one was in a real hurry to avenge Campbell.
Regardless of the risk things had worked out for the best and she'd managed to get the inn keeper to safety.
“You're going to take them with you?” Ethan stepped away from his commandeered wyvern. His voice, full of doubt. “Mercy or not, they're the enemy. Mai, are you really going to trust them with you inn? You saw what Campbell did to you place. I'm willing to bet these people had a hand in it.”
He spoke with fresh intensity, backed by gray eyes that were no longer dull. Their boredom, replaced with burning hatred.
“If you want to save them then-” Mai fell, breaking his train of thought. He reacted too late and the women fell. Akemi leaped into action, speaking as she took Mai onto her back.
“I learned a long time ago that plans mean nothing when dealing with Nohr. If we can get to Raziel, then we need to. But, you can't carry her. I can't defend us against a small army by myself and there's no way in hell that I'm going to trust these people to cover me.” He pointed to their prisoners. “Akemi, put Mai onto the wyvern. We need to be able to fight.”

Fire pierced the night sky, breaking the monotonous darkness with hints of day. Leaves recoiled from the explosion with some coming loose to flee in shock. Serena Leigh merely stumbled. She caught her footing fast. A chorus of shouting voices rose from the fort's rumbling stone. The seeker broke into a full sprint, realizing what it was: A distraction.
Her heart drug itself up her throat and Serena swallowed, pushing it back to its cage. She pulled the mystical pole from her back, letting it trail behind her as she drew closer. A nine-foot wall stood as her only obstacle. Its make was uncertain and she had seconds to figure her path.
The seeker pounced at a tree. Scrambling up its shaky branches before swinging to a Nohrian flag pole. She placed her bow around it and used her momentum to slid to the wall. Seconds later, she hopped onto the eastern walkway. Two guards stood cowering. Grave realization spread across their faces and they jumped up.
Serena left no time to explain. She swung with a swift figure eight, slamming her bow into the man beside him and sending him nine feet below. His partner swiped at her as the seeker ducked low. A swift kick to the back of his leg dropped him and the magical bow sprung to life. She loosed a bolt into the back of his head and glanced up. Her bolt was ready when the stranger came through a door.

"Tch... you think I've run a business in Fort Jinya and haven't come across these kinds of people before?" Mai grunted as she was hoisted onto Akemi's back, "You don't even know half of my story, you knuckle-head..."
Her head turned toward the two prisoners just as she was being placed on the wyvern, "Oof... you two, you know that whether you like it or not, your king won't take your failure lightly. The man you were charged to protect is dead, your mission to execute Ethan has failed, and now all that is left awaiting you in Nohr is the guillotine." Her eyes squinted at them, "If you would rather die in dishonor in the hands of your king before your people, then so be it. However, I am giving you a chance that we didn't give Campbell--one opportunity to join us, turn over a new leaf, and live as defectors to Hoshido. In exchange for any information you share with us, I will offer you a place in my inn as workers. You will do as I tell you, and if you shake my trust in any which way, I will not hesitate to end your life."
The witch's brow furrowed, "This may be the last generous offer you will ever be given. Therefore, make your decision, and be quick about it. We're leaving now."
The two Nohrians gulped and traded glances with each other. "What do you think, Jessop..." Freeman murmured from the corner of his mouth, "Death by King Garon, or death by the witch?"
Jessop swallowed hard, "... Damn it... fine." She looked at Ethan disdainfully, "You... I won't forgive you for killing our commander... but hell if I want to experience Campbell's life after watching how it ended..." She had faked unconsciousness after all. "Your... your friend isn't very good at cutting people's heads off..." EthanAkemiRaziel
The dragon didn't mind being seated on the outside of the fort while the others infiltrated it. It's closed walls made sneaking around within much harder for the man. The smaller group could go through less noticed, even though having somebody as large as Clayton might draw attention to them. Miss Mai was a capable fighter and Clayton knew the base, it seemed. Not much had been known about this Akemi woman, but he knew the rescue of his friend was placed in capable hands.
He could hear the assault on the base begin. Enemy soldiers were shouting of intruders, Raziel could only hope that the hidden carriage would go unnoticed. From the drivers bench he watched the fort for any sign of his friends. What he had seen instead was unexpected. An eyebrow was raised when an intruder approached the fort. His golden eyes watched the intruder study the fort for only a few seconds before they took action. Their movements were swift. With the help of a nearby tree, the fort was scaled and they made it inside.
Had Hoshido caught wind of this plan and sent backup? It would be a good tactic for them to use the commotion of Ethan's escape to their benefit and take over the base. A Nohr soldier had toppled over the wall and landed on the hard ground below. Whoever it was seemed to be on Ethan's side.
Raziel approached the man. He was gone. The dragon glanced up the wall to where the stranger had gone. With a quick sprint, Raziel used the tree as a quick step before he grabbed onto the wall and pulled himself up. The commotion from the battle wasn't hard to miss. The dragon followed it until he came to the room. An arrow aimed right at him.
Instinct told him to raise his hands. He only caught a quick glance of the stranger before, “Ethan don't shoot!” And then realization hit. Before him stood a woman. “Don't shoot,” he repeated again. “Ma'am, I'm not the enemy.”
"Half your story?" Ethan's face lost its emotion. "You're kidding right? You didn't know how to fight when I showed up. We were both green. Don't try to act like you were some dangerous hero not to be trifled with." He turned to Jesssup. "And you. Say another word to me, anything at all, and I'll tear you to pieces. You won't get what Campbell did. You'll get what Campbell deserved."
He looked to Akemi, realizing that she was content enough to carry the injured innkeeper. He sighed, tugged on the wyvern's reigns, and lead passed the broken door. Stone halls formed a confusing labyrinth, but Ethan simply took the first stairs he could find. He embraced the cold night and enjoyed the distant smell of black powder.
