Mai had been successful in freeing Ethan from his yoke so now it was only a matter of clear their path and getting the hell out before reinforcements could arrive. There was only one enemy left so amidst the chaos Akemi lunged forward prepared to deliver the final blow.
Before she could get in range the soldier coutner attacked using his long reaching spear.

Ethan whipped his blade clean and looked to the doors that Campbell had vanished through.
"Coast is clear. Let's get to Raziel and get the hell out of here." Clayton tipped his head towards the wall.
"I'm not coming with you." Ethan said.
"You serious? We just went though all this crap, just so you can walk back into it." The guard approached him. "They took a lot from me too, but kid these people just risked their life for you. Mine too. I put myself on the line to get you out of here. What's so important about rushing back in?"
The wanderer pointed after Campbell. "He is! You don't get it. That man won't let us go, won't let me go! if I don't kill him here, he'll just report us. Garron will send people after me. They won't stop, but he wants to send a message so a message will be sent."

Surprise also had crossed Mai's face at Ethan's words, yet his meaning became clear. In fact, she had beef with Campbell beyond Ethan's problems.
"Let me help then," she spoke with a sinister scowl with bloodshot eyes aglow, "That kisama turned my village into a ghost town, burned down my inn, and put you on the stocks for execution. I want his head after all this trouble!" She turned toward the fort where Campbell had gone and folded her arms, "I swear... if he runs from us a second time, I'm going to strike him down with a thunderbolt. Garon is the least of his problems." Akemi

" Glad to see you alive. " Akemi agreed with Clayton initially. This was too risky to pull it off, however Ethan made it clear he wasn't leaving until they got rid of that Campbell fellow, whoever the hell that was.
" We are already here so might as well put an end to this ..." To further sway her Mai mentioned that individual was responsible for tearing up their old inn. Full of resolve the Oni went towards the gate Ethan mentioned, tearing it apart with successive blows from her axe.
" Breaching!" After several consecutive blows the lock came loose and she kicked it open rather unceremoniously.
Ethan waited with his arms crossed. His foot tapped impatiently as Akemi bashed at the door. Frightened shouts rose from behind cracking wood. Each new clash showed a bit more of the cowards behind the wall and as their protection grew thinner, they ran. When Akemi kicked it open, only one soldier remained. He backpedaled as Ethan approached. The vengeful man ran a sword through the soldier, letting his body fall before him.
Clayton watched the young soldier die. His death meant nothing to him. However, the fact that he was scared and cornered did. "Keep going." Clayton said. "We don't want to get trapped like these rats. I'll go and let Raziel know to be ready."
The warden turned, spear in one hand, silver sword in the other. Several soldiers tried to oppose him, but their training meant nothing against his battle experience. Most went down with a single slice. He had learned enough about Nohr armor to end battles fast enough not to expend energy. He hopped the fence, landing right beside the cart.
"Raziel!" He called out. "The kid's free, but he's going on a triad. He wants to hunt down some jackass named Campbell. We need to be ready to go."

These fools were tumbling over their own feet to escape them. How ironic this situation had turned out to be...
"Tsk..." Mai clicked her tongue and grit her teeth, "Where did that scum go? He didn't try to bolt, did he?" She looked down the corridor to see a few whimpering soldiers about-face and attempt to run. However, a gust of wind knocked one of them off their feet, causing him to land on his face. Without even bothering to help him, the other escaped into a room and closed the door, latching it shut.
The witch approached the soldier and reached out for him, causing the same black tendrils from before to wrap around his neck and press him high against the wall.
"You," she hissed, "Where is Campbell? Where the hell did he go?"
"I-I don't know...!" he groaned, "I don't--"
The tendrils entered his ears, making a resounding squelch. His body shuddered, became limp, and dropped to the floor. Mai's knuckles creaked as she tightened her hands into a fist. AkemiEthanRaziel
" Uh? that's new." This was the first time Akemi had seen Mai display her affinity for dark magic. Earlier she'd been to busy watching the door leading into the bath house to notice her senior used those dark powers which took life's away rather easily.
From the sounds of it Clayton ran into a group of attackers on his way back. If they weren't careful they could end up getting surrounded which pressured Akemi to move quickly, knocking any wooden doors on their path.
" Its going to take us about twenty minutes to check every corner on this section of the fort. I don't think we have that much time to spare." The Fort defensive network was vast and from this point they could go in every direction. This was proving to be quite the cat and mouse game where the roles could change at any given second.
" If I was on his shoes I would bunker up on the observation tower. He would want to signal the reinforcements coming from outside the fort himself, probably." Akemi felt confident in offering an educated guess. " Or he could have ran to the basement hiding behind every available body under his command." She continued after smashing into a room.
"That's exactly what he would do. If he was smart." Ethan leaned against a wall, peering around its corner to see a troop of soldiers rushing down a distant hall. The wanderer pulled back. "East hall's a no go. We need to avoid these people as best we can." He motioned his group across the break and continued the charge.
"Campbell won't hold back. He's a coward, always was. He'll be running for the stables like a child. He's not running this time."
Ethan wouldn't admit that he was running blind. He had no natural instinct. All halls looked the same without their trail of destruction. He was somewhat happy for that. If Campbell decided to get brave, he would know exactly where to find him.

If only Clayton didn't have such an mutual attachment to this wretched fort, maybe she would have razed it to the ground by now!
"Let's run to the stable then!" the witch exclaimed as she changed course, "It should be this way. I've toured this place before while Hoshido still held it! Akemi should be able to remember it, too!"
The further along they went, the stronger the scent of horse manure and hay. Soon, two double doors stood before them, causing their party to stop.
"What do you think, Akemi?" spoke Mai, "Would a wyvern be able to fit between these doors?" EthanRaziel

With how difficulty this was proving to be Akemi would have much preferred blowing a wall or two to secure a surprise entry point into an obvious ambush spot.
" I had no clue that Campbell fellow was such a pussy." If Akemi had been able to become a Wyvern Knight she probably would be a hell of a lot more aggressive in battle. Having a winged mount certainly provided a degree of mobility she couldn't get with her own two feet.
" This might come in handy." On their way there she stumbled upon an armory room from which she picked up a Hammer in case they ran into heavily armored opposition.
" Maybe with some help ... " Was the verdict she offered to Mai once they secured a path to the Stables. The door was large enough to accommodate two horses so it was a very real possibility.
" Only one way to find out." Using her newly acquired weapon she knocked the lock with a couple of swift strikes. The lock mechanism breaking apart after the successive blows from such a weapon.
Ethan stood behind Akemi as she bashed the lock. His heart echoed each strike. The sword handle's engravings had pressed themselves into his palm enough to leave their marks. Metal felt no different from his skin.
"Pussy is putting it lightly." He said when she took another strike. The reply had come late, but Ethan was still processing what was happening. This was the moment things changed, when roads diverged and his life was chosen. The campfire had nothing to do with this. His fate was behind that door.
"Is it almost ready yet!" Campbell shouted at the stableman. "It's near finished sir." The aging man replied.
Multiple explosions were heard by the stonewalls that carried them directly to the stables. Each blast saw the horses whine while the wyverns tried to bust from their pin. Campbell stood, tapping his feet to the unsteady rhythm set by a sporadic heart.
"Screams sounded closer that time." His squad-mate said. "Doesn't matter." Campbell snapped. "We'll be gone by time they find us. Ethan doesn't know the lay out. We have time." "Why not cut the dastard down now and be done with it?"
Campbell turned to his soldier. "Because the man's Hoshidan girlfriend learned how to blow shit up! Do you even hear what's going on outside? He has a dragon too. Ethan's resourceful. I'll give him that." "But sir we have a-
The door clanged.
"What was that?" The stable master asked. "Just finish up!" Campbell snapped. "Connor! Jessup! Block the door. Freeman, you're last line of defense." "What are you going to do?" Jessup asked. "Don't worry about m-"
The door bashed open. Campbell watched for Blue hair, first spotting green. Then Ethan came into focus.
"You're not leaving." The fisherman said. "We're done Campbell." "Shut your mouth prisoner!" Connor shouted. "Are you really willing to die for this man?" Ethan asked.

For a brief moment, there was a certain joy that bloomed in Mai's heart at the sight of Campbell. They found him, they actually found him. No more running! She was getting exhausted.
Then the coiling, weed-like blossoms of hatred. About time they found this milksop of a chicken rider!
"There. You. Are." The witch's voice seemed to resound in the room with an unearthly tone.
A crooked, baleful smile crept on Mai's face as she pulled her tome from her bag, "There's nowhere left for you to run." Her eyes shifted between the other face in the room, "... And the rest of you... I didn't make enough pikes in front of the inn for whatever would be left of his closest subordinates." A threatening scowl fixed upon the man before them as she pulled her Flux tome from her bag, "... Perhaps... I shall make you an example?"
Suddenly, Mai brushed past Akemi and with her hand outstretched toward his neck. A low tone resounded in the room as the man's head flew from his shoulders and smashed into the wall. The body tumbled back and winced in place.
"That's one," she murmured grimly, "It would be a good idea to give up, you know?" AkemiEthanRaziel

There was no time to hesitate not when their enemy was before them. Once Ethan and Mai made their way inside the stables she followed along, putting the hammer away and brandishing her bronze Axe yet again. None of these people where wearing particularly heavy armor but that woman wielding the Naginata was the top priority on her list.
As soon as Mai was done decapitating that soldier it was time for Akemi to rush forward not feeling in the mood to waste her breath on empty words. She ran towards Jessop with the intention of smashing her head in with the blunt end of her Axe.
