GARREG MACH MONASTERY PATROL 1 Patrol of the Oghma Mountains Monastery Entrance > Oghma Mountain Roads Morning
The designated time for the student patrol had come, and the students who signed on were assembled together in a line. Just outside of the gate stood the old patrol sergeant, two other soldiers, and the general studies professor.
The patrol sergeant has a gruff, weathered look, with eyes a-piercing. His armor has clearly seen some rough times.
One of the two younger soldiers is a youthful male with vibrant, messy ginger hair and bright green eyes; there is a glistening polish to the iron shells upon his shoulders. The other is a serious woman and her forbidding, frowning countenance. Her fingers rubbed roughly together, her iron gauntlets making unpleasant noises.
Dressed warmly was the blond-haired professor, curious eyes flitting about with hands folded. She wore a light cape that stopped at her knees, and a draping skirt that hung just above her boot-clad feet.
“Right, so,” the sergeant spoke up, his venerable eyes shifting between each individual, “Patrol day, kids. We’re gonna take it easy today and go the simple route. You’ll follow me, but I’ll leave your judgment to you. Savvy?”
“Not really one to dive into details, Sir Montgomery?” the professor sighed.
“Nope,” he responded, “You lot have any questions? Concerns? Complaints?”

Being the first to respond, the one student that has what could be considered the strangest outfit would give the sergeant a grin while her hands have been behind her head in a relaxed manner the whole time. "Nah, I think I'm good on details for now. In fact it's been a bit since I last got outta the place. So this will be a nice change of pace for me~"
Just stating this in her usual confident manner of speech Marisa, a student that not much is known about by the teachers other than that she either bought her way in or used some other means to enroll herself. Also that she'd read many books if not all of them in the place's library already. Overall the main thing known is that she's an individual that if she doesn't have anything to do, can and most likely will get bored very quickly. So starting to whistle a little tune, the self pronounced ordinary witch wouldn't do much else for now as the other students give their responses.

Markus simply smiled as he dug his thunder tome out of his bag- just in case. You could never be too prepared.
“Though I am curious, it matters not,” He replied firmly, nodding to both the sergeant and his professor. “Just give me the order and I’ll follow through.” He gazes out at the area just beyond the gates, eager to begin his patrol. This was his first real experience out in the field, and he would make sure it didn’t go to waste. The future of the Gloucester house was counting on him, and he wouldn’t let them down!
Odette felt her eyes drifting between the four figures who stood before her, then back to the students around her. They were magic users for the most part it seemed, though she was the only one who was able to cast whilst wearing full plate it seemed. Her hands twitched with a gentle clang as she adjusted her helm, making sure it was secure, before offering a nod to the teacher and soldiers. If push came to shove, she was more than happy to throw around a little magic, though she hoped it would not come to that.
And of course, the small voice in the back of her mind whispered, she would have to make sure she performed admirably. Who knew which of her companions was in her father's employ, and if they reported less than perfection... she left the thought in the back of her mind, for now.

His first patrol. Finally. Yet he was nervous. He didn't know why, yet... He was. This should be standard fare for him. He'd fought through worse, right? Gone through plenty of mercenary missions, had plenty of combat instances. This should be nothing. A lot of these students didn't have real combat experience, so the odds of them getting into something super dangerous was slim, right?
Unfortunately, Fodlan was a hell of a place. You never what to expect. So Cassius stuck by his wyvern as they approached. He was armored up, and ready to go. Just needed his orders...
The patrol sergeant’s striking gaze hovered between each and every one of the students. “No questions, eh?” he grunted with a hint of disappointment in his voice, “I figured students to be the inquiring kind.”
The professor raised an index finger, “Where will we be going, Sir Montgomery?”
The man nodded to her and answered, “We’ll be making our rounds around the monastery itself. We ain’t expecting anything too insane to happen since we’re closer to the holy ground, but keep your wits about you.” He cleared his throat, “And, uh, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t...”
“Oh, of course, I won’t interfere,” she interjected with a demure wave of her hand, “Only on the odd occasion that something unusual does happen.”
With a shrug, Montgomery beckoned them to follow as he began making his way down the road, “On my arse, brats. Time waits for nobody.”
PATROL 1 BEGINS
“So, we have three reason magic users and a wyvern knight. Mr. Auron, you’re with me as the point guard. The rest of you will be rear support.”
PATROL POSITIONING

Monty - Cassius - Slaíne
Odette - Marisa - Markus
Patrolman 1 - Patrolwoman 1
The Madame
The group began their route just outside of the outer monastery wall, an area laden with patches of grass and dirt roads. They were heading toward a downward slope, with a mesa and a number of trees. Upon the mesa was a fork in the road that lead eastward into the mountains.
“Hold,” the sergeant holds his hand up, palm facing front, “Looks like we’ve got a disturbance.” The group sees three shabbily-armed men accosting a pair of older travelers. They all carried axes meant for chopping wood, but each one had a distinct hairstyle that set them apart.
A wavy-haired bandit spoke up, “Give us anything of remote value, and we’ll let you all go without so much as a scratch!”
“Yeah!” chirped a straight-haired brigand, “Make it easier for yourselves!”
The last toward the back had fuzzy hair, a little more pompous than the rest. He spoke nothing, but he brandished his axe as if he meant business.
“Rabble-rousers, armed with nothing but wood-cutting axes,” said Montgomery, “Since its our first encounter here, I’ll let you guys make a decision on how to go about this.”

Not doing too much throughout the patrol other than keeping an eye on the surroundings while keeping an uninterested expression and exterior, the group would eventually be stopped as the three bandits hassling civilians are noticed. So looking around the vicinity to see if there are any others first, she'd speak up. Though quiet enough so that they won't be heard or spotted. "I vote that we get in position's around the group while doing our beast to stay unnoticed. Afterword we can commence an assault on the group from all sides, that way damage to us can be minimized and the enemy taken out more efficiently."
Stating this in a manner as if she's sure the strategy will work, she nonetheless waits to hear what the others have to say. It wouldn't be good to do a sudden or even unorganized attack. And the faster the enemy can be taken down, the easier it'll be to prepare for possible reinforcements. Then relaxing the even somewhat serious expression she was showing, she'd now show a grin on her face. "Least that's just a tactic I heard in the past, I'm fine with just rushin in as well, ze~"
Piping up from the back of the group where she'd slunk in after oversleeping, Sláine murmured "I agree with the strategic choice. But it would not do to let innocents be harmed needlessly. The moment things get violent, someone should step in." Not her of course, she would be standing in the back, ready to heal any poor unfortunate souls who got injured. If they asked nicely, of course. Her healing wasn't infinite.
"Yes, non-violence would be best here, methinks," Markus agreed. "As Slaine implied, if we start with violence right away, it's more likely that the civilians could get hurt." He glanced nervously down at the bandits, and then at the travelers.
"Whatever we do, we should best go about it sooner, rather than later. The longer we wait the more time they have to hustle those poor people, and think we can all agree we don't want to see that happen."

Cassius had no immediate questions at the time. He figured the essentials would be told to them, and unless anything came to mind, the essentials would likely be all he would need. Someone did ask where they were going though. Cassius didn't figure it worth asking, they'd be able to see it when they got there, after all. He heard some back and forth about interfering, but dismissed it. Either way, they were well on their way as the patrol began.
Eventually their patrol would be stopped by the sight of a group of armed men harassing some older travelers. Cassius listened quietly as they demanded valuables, because of course they did. More bandits. He let out a sigh. He had gone from dealing with bandits, to... Dealing with bandits. Well, at least it was familiar to him.
To his surprise, their commanding officer would request the students make a decision on what to do. Cassius, while shocked, didn't take long to answer once he heard out the others.
"Flanking tactics seem best. Surround them on all sides and the mental advantage will be ours. If they attempt to attack any of the innocents, we have several magic users to take them down from a distance should they try" Cassius would remark toward the group. "I'm going to be honest with you right now. We're either going to scare them off with mental games, or they'll be too pigheaded and greedy to know they're beat and go for violence anyway. But their attacking doesn't mean they aren't cowards. Give them a good hiding and scare them out of their wits, and they'll turn tail. Might even go straight, even if that's optimistic thinking."
He looked to the bandits again. "Father's policy is you don't kill a bandit just for being a bandit. But there are two reasons why he would decide to kill one... Either because he had to, or because they didn't get the message the first time. He never spared one twice."

Odette eyed the bandits as the group came upon them, glancing at the group around her. Certainly, she could have voiced her opinion on the matter, but she was fairly certain that none of them were even properly capable of reading sign language without her reducing her sentences to single words. It wasn't that they were slow, but simply that sign language was not a taught skill. Thus, she waited for them to come upon a decision. Personally, she would have had the group fall upon them like so many meteors dragged down by god. Bandits, who had been bandits for any sizable amount of time, were scum, and deserved to be treated with all the respect of a particularly annoying fly. Incineration. Calming herself, Odette looked around the group again, then returned her gaze to the bandits, gathering dark energy so on the off chance one of them went to attack, she would catch them before they would have a chance.

Montgomery listened to each of their opinions, then nodded his head, “Right. Let’s take them by surprise. It’ll lessen their morale and more than likely have ‘em turn heel.”
With that, the group slowly and quietly approached. Slaine fell a little bit behind as her socks snagged onto a brush, yet the two patrol knight stopped by her to help her get free. Just as Marisa approached, a stray gust pushed her off course and caused her to hit the floor. At the same time, Odette’s foot snagged onto a strong root, throwing her to the ground with a loud crash. In spite of the noise, the three bandits didn’t seem to notice, only the old woman, who decided to speak up.
“You rascals seem to be far too strong!” she said with a fretful shake of her head, “Please have mercy on us old folk.”
The words seemed to tickle the ears of the bandits as they began more grandiose displays of intimidation. The old woman seemed to have bought everyone a bit of time to get in position.
All the while, Cassius, Markus, and Monty kept a steady pace as they snuck toward the bandits.
“I’ll go left, you lads head right,” he whispered to the two, “We’ll give them the jump on my signal.”

Montgomery was saying something to the other two students, not that Sláine cared. She already knew the plan: Attack without warning. That was easy enough to do, whatever minor tactics Montgomery was discussing only mattered to the frontline, not to her. She took aim at the wavy-haired Bandit, a pulsing globe of light forming in her hands before it launched towards her target.
Montgomery was knelt down, sword ever so slightly unsheathed as he raised his hand to signal the other two.
Then suddenly, but somewhat expectedly, a bolt of dark magic was cast in the corner of his eye. Who knew plans could go down the latrine with lack of communication?
With a grunt, the old knight dashed with youthful speed from a spot of tall grass, his legs carrying him between the gap where the two travelers stood.
STR CHECK XyEyjeeE1-20 + 5
With arms spread wide, the man caught the two older individuals just as the wavy-haired bandit was struck by Slaine. He rounded toward Cassius and Markus, then yelled, “Get ‘em!”
The wavy-haired bandit cringed in pain as the spell rippled across his body, and the two others turned to face the encroaching group.
Markus had begun to sneak around the side, just as he'd been told- at least, until Slaine acted entirely on their own and attacked one of the bandits. You've got to be kidding me! Markus thought, enraged by her decision. However, he didn't have much time to think on it; One of the bandits was coming for him. He wished that he could instead focus on protecting the commoners, but that wasn't an option at this point. In order to do that, he'd first have to defend himself. His hands began to glow with electric blue energy as he charged up a blast of thunder to strike one of them with.
