It was the third day since their arrival to the town of Izumo. Grant had been busy with sudden appearances of the Gate portal, and only once did she attempt to venture with him during their visit to this lovely country. After that single visit, however, Hadassah decided that it was better for him to take time off from his wild adventures on his own.
Today was that day. Numerous buildings were co-ed, such as massage houses and mud baths, but she had already visited them on her own time. They needed to spend a moment or two together, as mentor and protege, relaxing in the same place at the same time.
So, Hadassah stood before the steam house awaiting Grant. She had appointed four o'clock as his arrival time, and she had no doubt that he would arrive exactly on the hour.

There he was. Right on time as per the usual direction of his actions. He believed in nothing less than to turn up on time or earlier. Late with a reason was excusable by his standards, yet to be as priorly stated on his own case would be an attack on his own mental state.
Even as he had come to the building, he had no idea of what his teacher might have in store for him. Ever since a particular run in with a shady being, Grant was on the tips of his toes. Any opportunity there was for him to test his martial skill was taken. Perhaps a little too seriously as well considering the Outrealm posed little challenge to him except when he sought out a tough fight.
Perhaps that was what this meeting was for. A training exercise for him, or so he thought.
“Good afternoon, Miss Hadassah,” he warbled gleefully and at attention. “I trust that Izumo has been keeping you well?”
As expected of Grant! Why, he was even more cheery than he normally was. Perhaps today was a particularly good day for him!
Hadassah waved to him as he approached and nodded her head to him. "Izumo as a whole has treated me quite well. The plethora of luxuries presented to me has done wonders to my mental and physical health. That is why the old proverb, 'work, but don't forget to play' comes in." She thus folded her arms and grinned, "I know you've been busy with your own personal business, but I think it's about time that you had a time of respite from your goings-about."
The manateke's thumb pointed toward the steam house behind her, "That is why I've invited you here, to perhaps take a breather, enjoy each other's fellowship, and maybe discuss the philosophies of the greats as we meditate together. Shall we?"

Philosophy- not quite what he had expected to hear of. Though just about anything would do at that point. It was much more preferred than, say, getting pummelled repeatedly by a Faceless or stabbed by a soldier. At least the outcome of those battles was him having managed to aid the people of different realities in their time of need.
“I see,” he said while bringing up a hand to the side of his chin. “We shall if you so wish. Though, I am afraid that I am not quite savvy on the topic of philosophy.” That much he had to admit to himself. In truth, he knew more about how to prepare parchment compared to the aforementioned interest. Even in that case, he was not profoundly great or simply good at making it.
Just as he was about to take another step towards the building, Grant pivoted back on his heel to face the Manakete with an index finger raised. “One moment, Miss Hadassah.” He brought up a hand close to the side of his companion’s face once again. A familiar scene perhaps. One which had been played out before to some comedic extent.
“May I attempt something?”
He never truly understood how to phrase certain sentences in less awkward manners.
Grant 's concern of his understanding of philosophy was actually quite tertiary, after all, it was considered a possibility.
Hadassah let out a small laugh and began to follow him in, that is, before he turned on his heel to face her. His hand had once again found it's way beside her head. These were getting more intimate the more he did them, nevertheless, he trusted him enough.
"I never stopped you before, have I?" she said as her hands wrapped behind her back, "But next time, I would appreciate it if you asked first before you... you know." Her head subtly nodded in the direction of his hand, "That would be nice."

“I am almost certain you have,” he announced aptly as the smooth surface of his glove bushed against a cheek. Eyelids fell to remove sight from his mind. All he needed to view had already been seen- anything deeper would require surgery of some sort. Lucky there was always the arcane up his sleeve to cancel that possibility.
Nothing exceptionally special, though he did manage to figure out a small trick by continuously exercising his ability both on himself and the people that required it. A microscopic fraction of his power would pass from his throughout the flesh. Any contact with damaged tissue or harmful substances would cause it to bounce back to him. It could very well be compared to how a bat uses echolocation to manoeuvre around in the dark.
Except instead of sound waves he used, well, magic.
Three. Two. One. Nothing. No signs of infection, unless somehow magic decided to gain the ability to lie in the last few seconds. To the untrained senses, it would have seemed as if the butler had merely stood there and held the cheek in his hand for two minutes. That had just occurred to him and thus he decided to open his eyes.
“All appears to be fine.” Grant stated eagerly. A warm smile graced the sight of those nearby- perhaps not forced for the first time in a while. He was content with his findings. “You are as healthy as. . ." He paused in contemplation of how to phrase the next clause.
The sensation of purifying restoration was exquisitely soothing, except that his method was always this close. Weren't mages with staffs capable of using those from a less personal-space distance? Would that have defeated some ulterior purpose here?
Even as he closed his eyes, Hadassah continued to stare unblinkingly at his face, studying his features a little more closely. Perhaps there were scars faint enough to be mistaken as healthy skin, maybe he never suffered damage upon his visage, but at the most he was really quite good-looking.
Suddenly, the memory resurfaced. The greater dragonstone he gifted her before...
No. No, no, that was out of ignorance, it shouldn't mean anything. He was a human who knew nothing of the manateke culture, not to put any negative feelings for him. That is all.
When his eyes opened, her own averted. The last thing that crossed his lips was probably the silliest thing she had ever heard.
"Draconic horse? Snrk!" Hadassah blurted out an unconscious snort of laughter, "That's a touch unusual on the usual euphemism. C'mon, then!" She took him by the wrist and started to pull him along. "After we sit in the steam room, we'll sit in the cold pool after!" Grant

Strange was how he found her reaction. Usually she did not laugh at his jokes. Now coming to think about it, Grant did not know many people who did. He began to think that the small break might have been treating her a lot better than he had earlier expect. It gave him some form of relief to know the same person he chose to follow was enjoying their time spent.
Perhaps a little too much. If anyone had forgotten who Grant was talking to earlier, the cloud of sand from the soles of his shoes grinding against the path would surely remind them. A dragon’s subconscious strength. Go figure.
“I have encountered many a peculiarity in this journey of ours.” The butler said while breaking forth into a saunter by his companion’s side. “A ‘steam room’ is not among one of those.”
Cold baths were commonplace just about everywhere else he went. Though, most proper ones could only be afforded by those of wealth. Peasants and the like were relegated to riversides and whatever else they could come up with.
“Furthermore-“ Upon looking at the source of pressure on his wrist, an eyebrow raised at the Manakete who was still holding onto it despite already being inside of the building. The notion was passed off as her teaching him exactly what to do here.
“-what exactly do you mean by ‘we’ in those situations?”
Hadassah released her grasp on Grant and shrugged her shoulders high then let them drop, "What do you think? We're both going in the steam room, that means we'll have to pass through the separate changing rooms and get into robes." She smirked at him and folded her arms, "... I hope you're not uncomfortable of seeing another man in their, ah, natural appearance. I'd say I'm already used to it on my spectrum of things."
She lifted her arm and pointed at a an indoor counter with an open palm, "Anyway! I'll treat and get us our robes from there, then we can go into the steam room." An elderly attendant sat with an expectant look toward the two of them.
