It didn't seem like this woman was going to stop. The dragon stuck his hand out in front of Mai before she could continue on with the fight. He took a few steps to stand between Mai and Serena, his large body shielding Mai from additional attacks. "Mai, that's enough. Take Ethan and get out of here." Mai already looked like she was going to collapse at any moment. It was a wonder she had the strength to still keep fighting.
"I would have stopped you earlier had I known you'd end up being our enemy." Now they were just wasting time in Ethan's escape. "I apologize. I could have saved everyone a bit of trouble."

A bit faster than someone might expect from somebody so large, Raziel moved across the room. He was set on immobilizing Ethan's sister. It might be a poor decision on his part, and she was bound to come after Ethan once again, but it would buy them some time to escape if he put her down long enough.
He held her in a crushing grip, halting her movements. "Go!" He shouted to Ethan and Mai.1-100
"Pitiable?" Serena question. "You're the one who threatened me. What did you expect? It doesn't look like I'm the pig headed shrew here. You're the one standing in the way of something you have no business being involved in."
Shocking pain ripped through her chest. Serena collapsed to her knees, drawing a deep breath as she reached for the beam on her bow. As she lifted it, she found Raziel in her way.
"Move!" She ordered. "I'm not the enemy! You are!"
The seeker pushed to her feet and rushed ahead. She kicked off the ground, getting caught in Raziel's grip as Ethan took the woman's hand and raced away.
"Serena stop this!" Ethan shouted. "You haven't done anything you can't take back!"
His pleading words went ignored and she launched at the giant. A crushing fist wrapped around his sister's neck. At Raziel's words, Ethan Snatched Mai's wrist and pulled her back.
"We're leaving." He told her.
"Get back here you coward!"
Ethan stopped in place and turned to see a bolt race by. Her new wyvern jumped away, leaping into the air above the courtyard. A second bolt struck for Mai. Ethan yanked her back. Their balance compromised, the two fell onto the soaring wyvern. Ethan reached for the reigns.

"What a troublesome sister you have..." Mai grunted as she struggled to run at Ethan's pace. It wasn't long before Serena was able to shoot that second bolt, yet Ethan was quick to pull her out of its trajectory. However, the relief was short-lived as they fell upon the wyvern's saddle. Mai landed on her abdomen, knocking the wind out of her lungs and causing pain to reverberate across her body.
"Ohogh...!!" she grunted before making sharp, desperate inhales for air. Even as her consciousness shook, she clung onto the wyvern with every limb she could spare. EthanRaziel

The unnamed beast ignored Ethan's pull. Aging reins tore free in his hand and the wanderer found himself holding onto the beasts muscular neck. Wee it not for the threat of death, the creature's airplay would have been breathtaking. Dizzying barrel rolls failed to shake its parasites free. A final loop loosened Ethan's grip. He clung with one arm, digging a knife free with the other. He pressed it against the wyvern's scales, hoping to send a message. It didn't react.
"Listen to me!" He shrieked. "Go down!"
Spite drove the beast higher and Ethan's dagger pierced its back. The wyvern's roar gave Serena pause. She glanced up from her scuffle with Raziel, completely distracted by the beast's unstable decent. It turned back, snapping at its azure rider. His dagger found a leathery wing and pierced it. A roar brought three skybound beings to the ground. The wyvern landed first, tossing Ethan. He rolled through the dirt, drawing his sword as he stood.
"Stand down!" He yelled, only to receive a roar in return.

Well! Considering that this was a masterless creature, this sort of reaction was to be expected. Mai would have beat up Serena and watched Ethan wrangle his bronco of a wyvern rather than be ON the wyvern while it was being wrangled!
While she managed to catch her breath, the wyvern's movements threatened to throw her off. Ethan's approach to painful submission wasn't the best, but at the very least he would show it who's boss.
Of course, cutting at the wings was by far the most imbecilic decision he made. They descended into a rough landing, yet Mai had been thrown off seconds before they hit the ground. She struck the gravel with a hard impact, rolled for a little bit on her side, and let out a long, breathy groan. There was the instinct that something had broken, yet it was hard to tell with the throbbing agony present everywhere in her body.
Nevertheless, it was here that her consciousness drifted away. Ethan was on his own now.
Ethan and Mai's means of escape made Raziel a bit uneasy. His jaw tightened, as did his grip on Serena's body. The two of them would be able to put a great amount of distance between themselves and Ethan's sister. Raziel knew that she would be no match for him. "Go home," he suggested. Raziel released his grasp on the woman. After his attack and Mai's the woman was barely hanging on as it was. "I have seen many people like your king in the past. Giving up your brother's life will only be a short term solution. You give the king what he wants, he will move on to another village and it will repeat again. You hand over Ethan, what will stop your king from coming back another day. His word?" That wasn't something that Raziel would trust so easily. The actions, the ruthlessness, shown spoke loud and clear. "A man who destroys a village because of a single traitor cannot be trusted. It is impossible to save your village."
Serena stepped back when the giant released her. The bow's whispering beam gave greater light than the moon could. "But it won't be my village. That's enough for me. Let someone else suffer. His word." Serena admitted as her bow died down. "Is all we have. All I have. Yeah, he may come back. But I have to try. You would do the exact same thing in my position. In fact, you are. You have to know that I'm not going to give up. You let me go here, I just come back another day. Impossible or not, I'm not going to stop until I'm dead."
She turned her back to him, feeling a light breeze whisk loose strands of her hair away.
"Take him now." She said. "Run off into the night. He's always been good at that, but luck runs out. And he's coming with me the next time I find him. And I won't make the mistake of coming alone, next time."
The dragon stood there in silent contemplation. He had no doubt that she would continue to chase her brother down. With her back to him, Raziel could end it swiftly. He could snap her neck and ensure Ethan's safety from just another villain trying to track him down. Ethan would be doomed to face many enemies sent from Nohr. This woman seemed strong on her beliefs and so wanted to be a hero for her tribe. He could relate. There was a point where he would have done just the same. Raziel was the one standing in her way.
He dropped his fists and turned away. With swift movements, he descended down to the ground below the fortress to regroup with Clayton at the carriage they had brought. "Ethan has escaped on the back of a wyvern with Miss Mai. They can't be too far off," he pointed in the general direction they had gone. Though Raziel didn't need Clayton in order to regroup with them. He thought it best to see their guide off. "It seems our mission was a success. "
Clayton waited, foot bouncing with anticipation. The tall man dropped behind him and he launched up. Sword in hand, the ex-warden whipped about.
"Sakes guy. I almost lopped your, er shoulders off. Good to hear that we did good. You know where they landed? We need to meet up with them."
The wyvern tried to rise, but the wounded wing kept it grounded
"You aren't going anywhere." Ethan hissed
The creature growled as it drew closer. Its hulking size almost broke the wanderer's sudden will. Ethan reaffirmed his grip on the sword's handle and rushed in. Metallic dominance swiped at the beast's lifted feet. Ethan cut its sole. The beasts massive jaws sunk into his shoulder. It pulled him from the ground and his dagger sliced down the side of its neck. The beast dropped him. Copious blood fell from both their wounds and it seemed that both stood willing to stand down.

The dragon pulled back to avoid the swing of the man's sword. There was no safe way to approach somebody on guard, especially from behind. Raziel just shrugged and pointed down the path. With the carriage that was the only way he could go. "I'll scout on ahead and find out exactly where they are." He then transformed into a dragon and flew off in the direction of Ethan, Mai and the wyvern. It was easy to pick them out. The large beast could be seen easier than two humans. He turned back and descended to the carriage telling Clayton of their location. "They're north eastern side of the castle."
Broken, beaten, and scarred for the second time of the night, Ethan knelt beside his bleeding wyvern. Respect or not, the two had ceased fighting. He doubted that either of them could go on. The wanderer wasn't sure if that display of power was enough to show the beast he wasn't giving in, but it had done something. Finally, Ethan gave in. He collapsed, back to the ground. The wyvern laid its head beside him. Both took the time to watch the stars and all the dreams that came with them.
"I'm not the enemy." He muttered, looking to the wyvern. "You don't want me to ride you, do you? Sorry guy. We both have unwanted burdens to shoulder.
The sound of Raziel landing pulled the wanderer's attention westward. The cart was a good twenty feet behind him.
"Raziel." Ethan called with a raised hand. "Good to see you again. We should leave." He glanced back to the sky. "Yeah. that sounds like a great idea."
This thread is finished.
