"Protect ourselves?" Asinine stated bluntly, with a sigh, as he repositioned himself a bit as well, his flames small, and burning at the ropes that bound him. "That was the case with her, however someone as useless as an enemy of Nohr, had no real right to live."
His tone was icy, as she burnt at the rest of the ropes binding him, before discreetly burning Lydia's as well.
"Honestly, if you choose to let us go now, it won't make me spare your lives. Scum like you, deserves death, isn't that right?" His tone was casual, as if he wasn't about to get them killed. He glanced at Lydia blankly.
Honestly, his real issue with these ruffians was the fact that he was going to have to walk home, after reducing them to a pile of ashes.
The woman's mind froze. Was this kid for real. He was in no state to be making such meaningless threats like these. She could feel her ropes being burnt away, but the two of them would be no match for these men. Lydia wanted to roll away from the boy, put as much distance from him as she could as if it was a way to say, 'I am not with this boy.'
The ninja walked towards the boy who spoke out against him. Laying there on the ground left him defenseless. He slammed his foot on the boy's back and pushed him down into the cold earth. "No right to live huh? How's some punk kid going to decide that?" He kicked the boy again. "We took you out like it was nothing."
Asinine grunted lightly at the man's attacks. Such an annoyance, and to think he was that utterly stupid...
"How about this, do you like money? I'm fairly certain my father would pay you well, if you return me home, immediately." He said this bluntly, he refused to show any such thing as fear... Not that he was particularly fearful, they couldn't really do anything that would bother him. Honestly, even if they managed to kill him, he couldn't imagine himself caring.
"Do we have a deal, or am I too much of a punk kid for you to negotiate with? Besides that, isn't it pathetic that you feel the need to hurt kid?" He stated this almost tauntingly.
"Where'd that fight in you go?" The man kicked the boy again. The moment the kid offered money, the man felt like he had won. It had nothing to do with this being a child and a woman. He had seen himself as the child attacked his friend and killed him. "It's not about money, you little brat. It's about what you did to my friend. What both of you did to my friend. And I intend to make you suffer." The man dropped low and pulled the boy up off the ground by his hair. He looked at the female beside the boy. "Both of you will."
Lydia looked at the man with tired eyes. She learned that fear would do no good in times like this. That was something she learned a long time ago when she worked for that horrible plantation owner. She watch as the man shifted his attention back to the boy. Her ropes had been cut. She could see a shuriken poking out of the man's outfit. It couldn't have been too different from the dagger she normally used.
Asinine seemed mostly unresponsive, as his body dangled in the air. He prepared himself for when an opening to attack would appear. "Your friend? Such trivial bonds are annoying, but regardless, he attacked first, so put me down, and be on your way." Asinine stated ever so bluntly, he was readying himself to assault the man, when an opportunity made itself known.
"Besides that, it's not like that lady helped at all... I saved her life, she didn't really fight." He lied, honestly not positive how this encounter would play out, but he didn't mind too much. He probably was making this worse and worse.
The woman lifted her head to look at the man's companion who had not spoken up yet. His attention was also drawn to Asinine. That was her opening. She reached out to the weapons that hung at the man's knee and jammed them into the soft muscle behind his kneecap. The man released Asinine with a yowl and stumbled backwards to remove pressure from his knee. He cussed at the woman. His companion rush forward with his weapon drawn. "Yeah right she didn't help. Women shouldn't be trusted."
As Asinine's body started to fall down, he fell straight into the ground, but slowly pushed himself into a seated position, and sparkled some lightning between his hands, as he looked at the enemies.
"Perhaps you can let use leave, and leave as well?" He stated bluntly. "I'm a wheelchair bound child, I might even die on my way home, so wouldn't that be torture enough?" He didn't say more, but he looked towards Lydia, then back at the men who had attacked. This was probably going to erupt into a fight, unfortunate.
"I am a soldier of Hoshido!" the man exclaimed. "I will not allow for Nohrian trash to treat me like this." The man rushed to the pair but was caught offguard by the voice of his companion.
"That's enough," he hissed through his gritted teeth. The wound Lydia had given to him was deep. He couldn't walk and couldn't fight. Fighting the two now would bring their death. "The boy is right. He will die in the woods." The woman couldn't carry him all this way. If she did try, she'd no doubt collapses from exhaustion.
Lydia climbed onto her feet, using the shuriken to remove the leftover bindings from her arms and legs. She had done the same for Asinine. "Sir, I thank you." The woman's words were genuine. She looked at the other ninja who was hesitantly beginning to back down. "I'm sorry about your loss," she told him. Her fingers twitched uneasily at the wounded man in front of her. She had to keep herself from tending to the bleeding leg.
"Yeah whatever," the man said as he turned away, the other supporting them as they walked into the darkness of the woods, a trail of blood behind them.
Asinine's gaze followed the men, until they were long gone, he waited a few moments longer as well, before weakly pushing at the ground with his hands. Unsteadily getting up to his feet, he leaned against a tree, in an attempt to not fall over.
He didn't let out a word, as he started to glance around, taking a deep breath, before turning to her. "Do you, by any chance, have the faintest clue, on how to reach Nohr?" His body trembled, as pain foggied him somewhat.
Lydia closed her eyes and rubbed her temples. The threat of the men were gone at the very least. She had a weapon on her now and a staff that could be summoned at any time. At least they weren't entirely defenseless. When the boy spoke, the elf opned her eyes and looked to him. "So you do stand." She told him. "All that time in you wheel chair has made your legs weak. It is a pity to deteriorate your own body for trivial reasons." Lydia was not capable of carrying him, nor would she. She pointed to the sky. The stars were a natural compass. "North west." She told him. That's all she could say.
Asinine looked up at the sky, to see what way was the one she had stated, and weakly started walking in that direction. "Walking is a bothersome task that I wish not to partake in..." He muttered, as he grabbed against trees as he walked along. "Perhaps it has made me weak, but is strength of value to me? No."
"You've assisted me, I could repay you, if you're headed the same way." He glanced over blankly.
The way the child spoke had Lydia perplexed. He wanted to die then. The woman closed her eyes with a sad shake of her head. This child had absolutely nothing that he wished to live for. She found it hard to believe. Even faced with death, there had to be something that would make him fear for his life. That was what made people human. There was a little something in him too. If he did not value strength at all, he would not have learned magic. It might not been physical but the mental strength that went into learning magic was nothing to ignore. Even Lydia, an elf, had not been able to learn. "What do you have in mind?" she asked. Lydia would not stoop to carrying this boy through the woods.
"If you're headed the same way, I'll have my servants pay you quite well, for getting rid of those annoyances." He stated bluntly, as a hand shoved his hair back towards his scalp, in annoyance, as he continued to progress through the area, his breath slightly labored.
"Is that all?" She asked. It was a simple request. Those men didn't seem like they would be coming back to haunt them anytime soon. Everything that had happened between them had been because of human error and misunderstanding. A horrible reason to throw any life away. She stopped for a moment to pick up some leaves from the ground. Lydia felt the silky texture and broke it in half, smelling it. She wished she had her basket with her. This would be a wonderful opportunity to forage some materials in the woods. Instead, she was stuck without it. "It shouldn't be a problem then. I have to get myself some new daggers anyway."
"Yes, I'd likely be dead otherwise, and while I don't particularly care, I feel such a thing is deserving of a reward of some sort." He stated plainly, as he kept limping away. It was unfortunate, his estimation of her, proved that it was rather unlikely she'd be capable of carrying him, or anything. An unfortunate thing indeed, and it was likely going to be near impossible to get back relatively quickly.
He probably would get mauled by some beast as well, if he was all alone around here. Hm... Perhaps starting a conversation would create an increased probability of the lady sticking with him.
"Hm..." He briefly tried to think up a topic for small talk, something he commonly avoided at all costs. "Have many life threatening encounters, or is this an annoying surprise?"
