Asinine listened closely, he'd have to write down some of this information later, to present it to his father. However, his memory was quite well, so it was likely he'd remember it. "That seemed like the most likely outcome, of course." He stated quite plainly, as he glanced away. "That would've been an annoying waste of time and money... And you might have really died, if that happened..."
Hadassah diverted her eyes to her abdomen, where the most pain had presented itself back then. She gingerly patted her stomach, then where her ribs she had felt were broken before as a dragon, toward the sternum.
"... Ugh...!" she grunted and winced, then lay back down flat on the bed. While it wasn't readily apparent, her ribs were still healing. Vulneraries weren't miracle potions, they just staved off the pain and helped speed up cell recovery in the body. If it was like this... she may be staying the night in Asinine's house. "I'm... I'm afraid I haven't completely healed yet. I would've died facing that abomination in this form. The human forms of manakete are more fragile than their counterpart forms." She turned her head toward him, "I hear that is why my kind was so easily enslaved... because they were too weak without the Dragonstones to help them."

Asinine sighed a bit, as he shook his head. "Those idiot nurses certainly need to do a better job..." He seemed to mutter, with a bit of annoyance. If they couldn't properly treat someone like this, then quite frankly that was useless. I mean, they couldn't miraculously make him healthy, but they should be able to miraculously heal all the wounds from the rare creature that they were currently housing.
"In that case you'll have to stay even longer than necessary..." If he actually didn't dislike the person, he'd probably keep her forever, for research purposes. Of course, using this course of action, eventually he'd have to seek her out again, or have some of his servants do so for him, if more questions arose, but his train of thought was interrupted when-
"Oh, my cake." He stated ever so plainly, as he accepted a plate of cake. Starting to eat it in silence, his eyes stared straight at Hadassah.
Hadassah's eyes moved to the side to stare back at him, and there he was with the cake.
Hm. It looks well-made. Very high end and delectable. Is that a strawberry slice on top? Weren't those hard to procure in Nohr given the colder weather? Despite the war, was there still trade going about between the two countries?
... That cake looks very good, but she couldn't get distracted by that just yet.
"I..." she said, "... appreciate your concern for my well-being, regardless if self-interest is involved or not..."
Suddenly, her stomach churned, and the roar was so great that it resounded in the room.
Guruguruguruguru...!
Her face turned a shade of red as she tried to continue.
"... I... I..." Hadassah stuttered, "... I hope to somehow... ah, pay you back for this kindness..."
GURUGURUGURUGURUGURU...!
"Uuuugh..." she groaned as she placed her hands on her stomach, "... I'm sorry, Asinine... just seeing your cake made me think of food." Her blush deepened, "... not just cake... real food..."

"... Cake is real food..." He seemed to mutter, as he took another bite, ever so quietly. He glanced to the door. "Get her... Dragon food, or something." He stated bluntly, having to take a pause for a moment, before looking towards her. "What, pray tell, do dragons eat?"
It was strange she was wanting to pay back his kindness or something of that sort. If she wanted to impose a need to be indebted to him, however, he was unlikely to complain. After all, having people indebted to him could be useful...
No, cake was not real food. It was air. Air was nothing. Nothing was nothing, and nothing doesn't feed the appetite of a dragon.
"Hehe, dragon food... dragon's eat meat, Asinine," giggled Hadassah with a nod, "I particularly like fish, but anything is fine with me. Besides, food tastes delicious when you're hungry!" Another stomach growl resounded from her, "Uuuurgh... anything. I'll even eat spare parts that no one usually eats. Just... just nothing rotten. Cow heads, sheep's liver, I don't care..."

Asinine seemed perplexed at the sorts of food this person wanted... So strange, it must be disgusting to be a dragon. "If a cow head entered this home, the servant who brought it in, would... Never set foot in here again..." He muttered, with a roll of the eyes. "You heard her." He stated back to his servant who ran off.
"So you only eat meat? Carnivorous nature, I see..." Asinine tried to gather what knowledge he could from this.
"Weeell..." Hadassah drawled, she shrugged her shoulders, "Consider that most dragons don't particularly care about taste. The only sauce they need is the blood of their enemies." This she said with a cold look in her eyes, but they softened, "I jest. My particular tribe loved fish because of the differences in flavor for each one. When we discovered seasoning and other kinds of ingredients to go with the meat, it was flavor heaven for us..." A sad look came on her face, "... but... it's been so long since I've tasted my culture's cuisine... and... and..."
The manakete hadn't thought about that before. As far as she knew, she was the last survivor of her culture. Her father passed down so many recipes, but as time wore on, she had forgotten them. Sorrow suddenly rushed into her chest, and before she knew it, tears had streamed down the side of her face. She hadn't shared this much of herself to anyone, let alone a stranger who could care less about her life story.
She turned her head to wipe her tears on the pillow beneath her head, "... I'm sorry, Asinine. It... it seems the vulnerary has worn off... it hurts." That was an excuse for herself, of course.

"Oh... I see... So fish was a big part of your culture..." He stated ever so simply, he didn't really care. However, perhaps it was beneficial knowledge, in some stupid way. As she started to cry however, he let out a small sigh... He was going to ask how old she was, but... Most likely that wouldn't end well until she felt better.
"Hmmm... Understood." Rolling out the door a bit, he spoke to someone, "Please bring the nurses back..."
He glanced back into the room, "Should I leave for now?" He stated rather bluntly, no sensitivity within his voice. "Or would you like me to stay, as they tend to you?" If she wanted him to stay, it was likely she'd get questioned extensively, while she was crying.
"Ah... um..." the woman mumbled, she reached up to her eyes and wiped her tears, "I'm sure you've better things to do than ask me questions." She turned her head and fixed her eyes on Asinine's, "... you can... come back later after to watch me eat, but I'm sure you've seen a human eating meat before, so it might not help you much to see the exact same thing." She moved her hand in the air to shoo him away, "Besides... I think these bandages on my chest need to be replaced. We certainly can't have you inside this room at that time unless you're feeling adventurous."

Asinine listened casually, but at the end of what she said, his eyes widened, as his eyebrows began to furrow a bit. "... I have no interest in that..." He stated quite plainly, and started wheeling himself out. "Goodbye."
Adventurous? Asinine sighed, what an annoyance, the nurses would be in soon, and he could easily come by later, when she was feeling better... He certainly hoped to get rid of her relatively quickly. Dragon or not, this was someone he wasn't fond of...
The next day Asinine rolled back in, quite plainly, as a servant followed him, with a platter holding a ice cream cake. Another few followed with a table, and another with a chair. They seemed to set these up into place, and Asinine rolled to the end opposite the chair, another servant bringing forth silverware, and plates.
"You wanted to try cake, correct? Sit down, here." Asinine stated.
Last night she was given a warm bath. Regardless of her discomfort of her healing ribs, it was actually very comforting. Most times she's bathed in cold water.
I could get used to this bit.
Hadassah woke up the next morning feeling soreness in her ribcage. Upon inspection, her ribs weren't broken anymore, and all she was dealing with now was the aftereffect of her thrashing.
Suddenly, Asinine had come into the room followed by a good number of servants, carrying... a literal dining room with them. Her eyes snapped back and forth onto Asinine, the cake, then the servants.
"... Ah..." she scratched the back of her head and nodded, "If... if you say so, Asinine."
Cake. For breakfast. Sheesh, these nobles...
She got up from her bed and made her way to the other end of the table to sit down.

As the girl sat at the other end, Asinine watched as the servants started to cut slices onto two plates, and place them in front of the two. Alongside this, a knife and a fork were placed besides each. Asinine casually grabbed his, and began eating, in somewhat small bites.
He never spoke with his mouth full, but spoke in between bites. "I trust it'll taste well, if not feel free to vomit." He stated as if that was a relatively normal outcome. "They could get you... Food that'd make most others vomit, which would be more to your liking."
Asinine's words flew over Hadassah's head as she looked down at the plate of cake. What was in this thing? It looked soft and fluffy and had more colors than the Nohrian sky in a single day. It came from the same cake that Asinine was consuming now, so it was definitely safe to eat, not that she was suspicious that he would end her prematurely from petty dislike.
Hadassah picked up the fork and stared at it for a while. Four prongs... like four spears. That's not too bad an idea, actually! If she could find another bit of whale bone, maybe she could fashion it to become a four-pronged spear, only with a different design on the end. The knife was a blunt one, and definitely would deal little damage to Asinine... oh, bad thought! She shouldn't think of that.
"Here I go," she said almost as if to announce, "I'm going to try this for the first time." Some of the servants looked on in interest to the fact.
She gently lowered the fork down and cut a decent chunk of the cake out, then stabbed it with the end of her fork. With the cake within its prongs, the fork was lifted to Hadassah's mouth, and ever so slowly made its way inside. When it had eventually been put inside, the fork slid out from her lips and was put aside.
The manakete stared completely forward as she swirled the cake in her mouth.
"Hmmmmmmmmmmm..." her throat hummed and she closed her eyes, "Hmmmmmm...?"

Asinine observed with some curiosity, although this barely showed on his face. He was perplexed as to why she ate so strangely; she had seemed to savor her food more so than necessary, and he couldn't help but think of this as unusual behavior. It was possible that this trait belonged to manaketes, however, it was just as likely it was adopted from ordinary people. The mage found it bothersome to think about.
"It tastes good, correct?" He stated flippantly, "Swallowing is a thing, isn't it? Would this be something I need to take note on?" Asinine took another bite of cake, as he rested his face against his hand. He was observing the other's mannerisms, a little too closely.
