It was a place a little off of the main road, an inn that was once called “The Tender Hearth.” A great deal of money was invested, and ownership was shifted, even while the new proprietor had not arrived. The floor plan was about the same at the L’Auberge du Faucon Rouge over in Notre Sagesse, thus fitting in wouldn’t be a hard task.
Just days after the new proprietor arrived, everything immediately changed to her new standards. This inn was designed to be a gathering hall for mercenaries of all walks of life. Granted, every man and woman here had to manage their own security, given the open forum nature of the tavern. Sure, there were some here that were just toughs looking for a fight, but they were a proud group, and pretty damn good at what they did.
This was a change of pace for Riley the bartender. The re-opening night for the tavern was booming, even if they had already served the lucky first fifty free meals. Many of the mercenaries gambled amongst each other, performed tests of strengths through arm wrestling, and for the more daring, dexterous types, played the hazardous knife game in the corner of the room. Of course, there were those that simply drunk themselves into a stupor, nevertheless, the coffers of the bartender were filling up once again.
“Y’know, you gotta hand it to her,” the bartender chuckled as she wiped down a spot on the counter, “She really revived this rut.”
An old gaffer by the name of Bert glanced to her and chuckled, “Ye, s’been a while since we’ve ‘ad this many people... even if they’re a bunch of meat’eads.”
“Hey, Riley!” a merc yelled from down the row, “Bring me another!”
“Yeah, coming right up,” she replied as she retrieved his mug. Before she would leave, the young mercenary tugged at her, “Hey, uh... so, when is this Madame going to show herself?”
“Hey, yeah, yeah,” another fellow spoke up, “She sounds like a gem giving us mercs an exclusive place to slum it up. When can we see her?”
“Heck, I dunno,” Riley shrugged, “It’s still pretty early.” She tossed a glance to the gaffer at the other side, but he raised his shoulders also. “Well, just be good and patient, and maybe she’ll show up.”
“Aww, but I wanna see ‘er!” “Heh, maybe she’s scared seeing all these big scary men.” “Heheh, yeah! Lot of folks cross the walk when they see a merc comin’ down the street!”
“Eh, just wait,” she replied with another shoulder lift, “Just don’t make a ruckus, whatever you do.”

Fila glances to the side at the rest of the bar, quietly nursing her own mug. She was looking forward to a talk with 'Madame'... And maybe some work as well. Even if Madame didn't have a job for her, she might have some connections Fila desperately needed. With the war going on, Mercenaries were flooding the market. Getting good deals had gotten a bit harder, due to the surplus of drudge jobs and competition. The Madame

Leliana smiled as she looked up the Inn, her gloved hands twitching. She hadn't been expecting the invitation, but she took it all the same. Striding up the steps, she pushed the door open and looked around. She caught the tail end of the conversation as she approached the bar, and she couldn't help but laugh. "Oh, I can assure you gentlemen, she is not afraid of you, or indeed, anyone else in this bar. But the barkeep speaks true. I would not raise a ruckus if you can at all help it. I would hate for you to ruin what is clearly a fantastic establishment."

“Hey, hey, I’m not looking to make any trouble, lady,” the young merc replied with his hands in the air, “But some idiot will. There always is that one guy that makes a mess of things.”
Riley squinted at the newcomer and proceeded to pull a mug out from beneath a seat, filling it to the brim with a certain ale. “Hey, there, take a load off,” she greeted, “Welcome to the Wyvern’s Rest. The Dame said your first ale’s on her. Enjoy.” She placed the mug where the hooded woman would take it, then proceeded down to the other end of the bar to serve other customers.
All the while, the Madame herself observed the scene from the second floor, scanning the tavern level with certain scrutiny. All these mercenaries were a true menagerie of sorts and specialties, but really, they all sort of looked... disappointing. Even so, she saw a familiar figure among them, and that was enough to bring herself to light.
“Good evening,” she spoke with a volume that carried through the room, “Good evening, I say, good evening.” The voices on the floor quieted as they looked up to where she stood. “Welcome to my little haven, my darlings. I trust you’re all enjoying the food and drink?” At her question, a jovial cheer boomed through the gathering hall. “That is wonderful to hear, but I shan’t go on without introducing myself.”
She placed her hands on her hips and tilted her head up slightly in the air, giving off an air of superiority, “You will call me Madame, the Madame, if you are so inclined. This establishment was created with the sole purpose of being a place where you, my dear mercenaries, may rest away your weariness. Under no circumstances will I turn away a well-behaved merc, but on that note, I will make this one thing clear...” She stepped atop the railing of the second floor, then suddenly dropped onto the first, landing on both of her feet with a loud stomp, causing many of them to suddenly jolt in shock of what they just witnessed. “I will not tolerate those who start fights for fun. Rest assured, my darlings, my staff will see to it that you do not quarrel with little things, and, please, be evermore considerate if I am present with you?” She walked down the middle of the hall and stared in the direction of some rather roughed up mercs, “It would truly break my heart to have to discipline you.” Those in her general gaze nodded their heads with intent, thus she turned around to face the other side of the tavern.
“Well, that’s all from me, dears,” she concluded with a smile, “Please, enjoy the rest of the evening, and do let me know if you are dissatisfied with anything!” With that, she proceeded to stand behind the bar next to Riley.
“Evenin’, Dame,” the bartender greeted.
“Evening, Riley,” was her reply, she glanced to a mercenary with tattered clothes and elf ears and slid before her, “Hello there. Need a refill?” FilaLeliana

Fila looks up as Madame appears before her, having been thoroughly ensconced in her own thoughts. The business problems and her past coming up to haunt her... She had far too much on her plate. Best thing to do then, was to focus on what she could deal with right this moment.
Either way, someone was talking to her, and it would be rude not to answer. Fila gives a short nod, clearing her throat and sliding her mug forward before replying "Ah, yes please."
"That was very well done. The speech, and the performance." From her tone, it is meant as a guileless compliment. She coughs nervously, evidently worried she had worded it poorly.

The Madame chuckled as she retrieved the mercenary’s tankard, “Well, I’m glad you were entertained, dear. I find it difficult to be less eloquent when it comes to dealing with mercenaries.” She knelt down to refill the cup to the brim, then stood back up, “I find that there are multiple flavors of them, thus it pays to be a little bit of everything, wouldn’t you say?”
The mug was placed before the woman again as she gave her a friendly smile, “Say, I didn’t get your name. I don’t need to remind you of mine, do I?” Fila

Fila certainly new the value of tailoring your performance; she had used many different masks in her career, after all. Boring ones to move unnoticed, cheerful ones to raise morale, and fierce ones to intimidate. The Madame took subscribed to the other extreme, apparently, which was equally effective in its own way.
"You're not wrong. Not how I usually do it, but its rare I have to deal with more than one person at a time." Fila gratefully takes the tankard back, a small amount of coin appearing on the bar. "No, Madame. I'm Fila, Fila Filigree. If you've heard of me, I'm doing considerably better in life than I thought I was." The Madame

“Hoho,” the woman chuckled, “I hope you can fix that by your own two hands, Fila, and I certainly hope you make a name for yourself within my little corner of heaven.”
“Well, I’m for sure making a name for myself!” the man next to Fila butted in, he suddenly stood up atop his seat and placed his foot on the countertop, “The whole world’s gonna hear about Argil the Big Fist and Pecs! Check me out!” He immediately flexed, causing the surface of his skin to bulge, “Hahahaaaa!”
“Hey, siddown, Argil!” a masked fellow beside him yelled, he stood up on his chair and placed a foot on the bar as well, “The guy everyone’s gonna hear about is Vern the Hawk-Shot! I got me three gooses-g-geeses in one shot!”
“Oh, settle down, you idiots!” Riley spat as she whipped a towel across their legs. The two men let out a yelp as they tumbled back on the ground, causing the witnessing mercenaries to guffaw and slap various surfaces.
“Hohoho, what rowdy gentlemen,” the Madame giggled, she leaned against the counter to look at their confused faces, “Please don’t pull such a stunt again. I would hate for anyone’s career to cut short from a silly accident.” Fila

Fila looks briefly furious at being jostled before instantly smoothing her expression into mild annoyance as the braggarts suddenly leap into the conversation, one after the other.
"Mm. How tragic that would be." Fila replies in a noncommittal deadpan. She was...not pleased with her conversation being interrupted, even if it would have been rude for her to hold the Madame's attention for too long; she was still unhappy about it.

“Now, now, I’m not an advocate for violence, Riley,” replied the proprietor with a gentle shake of her head, “Let them have their fun. It is a celebratory night after all!” She turned her head to Fila and smiled, “Say, I wouldn’t mind talking with you a little longer. We’ve a little nook in the corner.” Her eyelids closed halfway as her grin widened a further, “... I might have something for you to do to help kickstart your reputation. What do you say?” Fila

Fila perks up. Connections were good, and the Madame was reputable that she could trust she wasn't being taken outback to be killed. Fila stands up, setting her empty mug aside and giving a tired, but determined smile. "You do credit to say that, Madame. I wouldn't mind talking more." That fact that Madame was beautiful and utterly terrifying did not at all affect her interest in a private conversation. Or if it did, Fila did not admit that to herself. This was purely for business. "I appreciate any help in that regard I can get. With the war going on, its important for mercenaries to avoid getting hired as fodder."

“Yes, yes, we want to avoid raw talent being wasted like that! That said, there’s probably hundreds of ways anyone can profit from it on the sidelines,” the Madame nodded, she turned her head to the bartender, “Floor’s yours, Riley! Keep them entertained, will you? I’m going to the nook.”
“Right-o.”
The Madame beckoned for Fila to follow after her as she came around the bar, “Come along, now... oh?”
There was a familiar fluffy coat among the patrons. It seems Leliana had taken up her invitation! Thus, the Madame drew close and tapped her on the shoulder. “If you have time, the nook,” she whispered, “Ta!”
She continued along to lead Fila to the quieter nook area. The spot was uninhabited by the patrons, and its narrower space lent itself to more private conversation. There was a medium-sized table in the middle, with eight chairs surrounding it.
Naturally, the Madame took the furthermost seat toward the far wall.

Leliana had taken up a small drink, nursing it between her hands, and she waited. The moment the @madame tapped her shoulder she spun, taking the hand and spinning the woman it was attached to her, a fierce grin on her lips. She gave a bow, before the young woman vanished into the crowd as quickly as she had arrived. In the nook she reappeared, sitting down and waiting for the Madame to arrive, her legs crossed, and a playful smile upon her lips. "Well, hello there. It has been a little while, and you found yourself a new friend," she murmured, her lips pursed beneath her hood.

Something about the way she moved and held herself made her almost invisible to notice, like an empty presence totally out shined by the woman next to it. It wasn't until the nook that she seemed to 'pop' back into notice. She nods politely to Leliana, pulling out a chair as quietly as possible and sitting down.

“Hohoho,” the Madame laughed toward Leliana with the back of her fingers to her cheek, “I am simply a socialite climbing the rungs of the economical ladder, dear. I will always be making friends wherever I can find them.”
She looked to both the women in the room and snickered, their appearances considered. “My, my, my... you’re both ever so arcane! How am I supposed to know what you two are thinking if you remain so clandestine as you are? Hats and hoods off, darlings! I’ll at least close the nook off so that we may comfortably meet and greet!” Before her latter words were spoken, she rose from her spot and pressed her hand against the wall, sliding a panel into the other side of the wall and effectively closing the room for their privacy.
