Ash scanned the ground from from atop Albert. It wasn't something that could truly be enjoyed. He had no time to space out because it was not his time. Not truly. It was annoying, but nothing could be done.
A hand ran up and down the shaft of his spear just to keep themselves busy. He could have done something about his hair in his face but at this height there was no point. No danger would come, and if it did he'd be unprepared and die horribly. Not like he would let that happen, but if it came to a real battle of wills it was probably best his role was limited to giving reports.
Black Rabbit hummed as his horse trotted along, humming a tune quietly as he fell into an easy rhythm. There was a flapping of wings overhead, and he smiled, looking up to see a pegasus flying overhead. They weren't uncommon in these parts, and he raised a hand cheerfully. "Ho," he shouted, the wind carrying his voice up to the rider. Pulling his horse over to a tree, he hopped down and waved some more, hoping the rider would land.
Ash almost let the spear slide from out of his hand as he heard the voice. He'd seen the lady, but the voice still managed to startle him. He sighed as he began to circle, slowly lowering. He wasn't paid for socials, but it was rare people actually took the time to say hello. He also had a duty to listen to any problems that were in his power, which was rather limited. He could send it up though, where it would get lost or ignored in favour of something from someone more important.
Black Rabbit watched as the pegasus descended and he smiled, glad to have some company on the road, even if it was for a moment. He slowed his horse, the beast neighing happily at the chance to rest. Waiting until the pegasus and their rider had landed, her raised a delicate hand again, smiling broadly. "Good Morning, how are you?" He asked, still smiling as he turned to face the new person. "Sorry to call you down, but it is so lonely on the road, you know?"

“Good morning...If it is a good morning, which I doubt.” There was a long sigh as Ash dismounted. He then have a weak grunt as he stretched out, before nodding meekly at the lady. As they had asked, he began listing his feelings. “Mediocre, melancholic…” He stopped as soon as he released how embarrassing he was being. “I wouldn't know…about travelling. Not too much anyway. The weather is nice though?” What did one say to a lady? No one wanted his company, he just made them sad.
"Every morning is a good morning," Black Rabbit replied, watching as he dismounted, replicating the action so they were on even footing, if not even height. Even with the heel on his shoe, Black Rabbit was still much shorter than the new person, and hummed as he was forced to look up. "Meh?" He asked, teasingly as they began to rattle off their emotions, sticking his tongue out and grinning. "The weather is nice, yes," he purred, taking a step closer.
Ash was skeptical that the early hours had any special power that made them more or less bearable. “If that's true then days go downhill very fast. Meh?” Who'd use such a phrase. He took offense that his attitude was so easily parodied, but not enough so to defend his position with much conviction. He was probably going to be told he was wrong again anyway. “I wouldn't say it like that. The word lacks a kind of...depth? It's sort of lazy. Lack-lackadaisical W-would be be-tter.” He shifted a little, taking a slow and uncomfortable half step back as his voice cracked a little and the lady approached.“Yesverybrightweather.”
Black Rabbit purred as the young man began to speak. "Or, perhaps rather, you should consider that after a good morning, the day only tends to get better and better. Take today, for example. Black Rabbit woke up, and she was happy, for it was a good morning. Then she met you, and it was even better." He smiled, pursing his lips as he took another step forward, closing the gap between them. "Lackadaisical? Black Rabbit has never heard this word. She will have to make a note of it so she can use it in the future."
It was a good morning because she was happy about how good the morning was? Ash wasn't quite sure he understood that line of thought. The lady, Miss Rabbit? Was already showing herself to be a quirky character with a strange outlook. “That's an optimistic outlook…You should keep it. It's better than the other thing.” His attempts to keep a professional distance away were proving futile, as he now stepped back to the point he was rubbing against his pegasus. Maybe the traveller was just looking for closer contact after a period of isolation. He felt like he needed a hug sometimes. Often in fact. Too often. But such closeness to strangers was inappropriate, and he was at work and she was being a distraction from that work if she didn't need anything important. “Y-yeah, it means lazy. It’s a lazy word to say too. R-really nice.”
"Black Rabbit did not plan on losing it anytime soon." He replied, taking another step closer to the young man, a smirk growing wider on her lips. "Well, I must say, it has quite an interesting meaning for a word as long as it is. Black Rabbit must thank you again for landing, she was getting so terribly lonely out here on the open road. Where are you headed, Mr...?" He paused, realising he didn't know the young man's name. "My goodness, Black Rabbit has been so incredibly rude." Taking a step back, he twirled, before curtsying deeply. "Black Rabbit is Black Rabbit, a pleasure to make you acquaintance."
As the distance between them grew bearable once more, Ash drank in some deep breaths of oxygen to feed his unsteady heart. Albert nickered at the fact he was being grabbed too tightly by their nervous master by their back. Realising this, he quickly let go. “Ahh...Your name wasn't that big of a secret,” If that even was her name. “But in the interest of fairness, I'm Ashielia Satoshi...Ash is a perfectly acceptable boys name!” He made sure to anticipate any comment with an amount of firmness so thick it was obviously masking obscurity. “I'm heading in one big circle, and getting paid for it."
Black Rabbit giggled as he gripped his horse, before letting go nervously. "Black Rabbit will not hurt you, Ash," she replied, studying him carefully. "You would make a pretty girl, Black Rabbit thinks..." he trailed off for a moment, "But that is besides the point. Black Rabbit would like to get paid to walk in a big circle, but Black Rabbit has to walk from town to town to heal people to get paid. Black Rabbit enjoys it though, so Black Rabbit does not mind," he continued. "Is Ash is a soldier proper?"
Ash instead tightened his weapon grip as he once more began to slide it up and down. He nervously met the analytical eye, assuming it was looking for the worst, rather than the softness of his features. “N-no it wasn't anything to do with you. I don't think you're a threat. It was just something else. Of course I'm a proper soldier, I'm called better than a proper soldier. I've gotten promotions that under normal circumstances someone with twice the experience wouldn't have gotten.” He left out the grim reality that he was all too aware of about why he was being rushed through the system.“W-would a pretty girl be able manage that, Miss Rabbit?”
As tempted as he was to offer the young man a make over immediately, Black Rabbit managed to restrain himself. "Black Rabbit is sure, which is why you are gripping your weapon like that," he replied, before nodding at his next question. "Of course. Nothing stopping a pretty girl from being a soldier. Would you like to be a pretty girl? It's a lot of fun," he smirked and took a step closer to Ash, before blowing him a kiss and spinning on the heel of his boot. "Where does your circle take you next?"
Ash actually had to consider the answer to the question. About the limits of a pretty girl, not if he'd like to become one. “I guess there isn't anything stopping them, they could do anything they want. So why would they choose this?” It wasn't bad at the moment, but that was only due to the mercy of Nohr. Such mercy would be revoked without warning at some point.
“Be a pretty girl? I think you do it better.” His face started to redden a moment after as he realised his unintentional compliment. He rubbed his face with the back of his hand, as though trying to scrub out the cheek-seeking kiss. “The next settlement I will pass? W-why?” He had to at least take a rudimentary check of if he was dealing with a spy.
