After weeks of being on the open road Virna was running low on food and supplies. She hated to admit it but now would probably be a good time to stop in the closest village and hunker down for a while. She passed freshly tilled fields and thought of taking some of the greens sprouting from the tops of the earthy mounds, but her mama didn't raise a thief. Passing fields was a good sign though, it meant that there was likely a village of some sort up ahead. She picked up her pace a bit and winced as she slung her pack over her shoulder. She had gotten into a small tussle with two traveling merchants claiming she had rigged a round of dice, but it wasn't her fault the dice weren't in their favor. They did not like that explanation, and instead tried to get their money back using force. She was able to outrun them, using Soultan as a distraction, but not without getting a decent sized lance welt on her left arm.
"Hey Soul, are you sure you can't learn to use a staff? I'm still convinced you're a wolfskin in hiding." She chuckled as the lumbering wolf rolled his eyes and padded ahead of her. "Oh take a joke!" She called after him, her light accent rolling off her tongue.
Not too much longer down the road she found a small village that was bustling with all sorts of life, and she had to keep her wolf close by to keep him away from a few loose roaming chickens. She walked up to a small group of women as she entered the center of the town.
"Excuse me ladies." Their gazes were skeptical, but not unkind. She sort of stuck out like a sore thumb in the north since her bright yellow clothes and hijab were not common garb in this region, not to mention her large, pointed ears. She didn't let it get to her, she was use to having eyes on her, she was a dancer after all. "Do you know where I can find a healer in these parts?" Her stomach interrupted her with a large growl and she blushed and grew a guilty smirk. "And maybe a chef?"

The women glanced to each other, unsure what to answer her.
"... In this town?" said an older woman, "A healer and a cook? That is too specific for us to say."
"Wasn't there a priestess who just passed us by?" a younger woman added, "She went to the market! You could probably get taken care of first."
"Enough now," the older began to usher themselves away, "Good luck on your quest, stranger."
"I hope this wok serves you well." "Oh, thank you." "Onee-san, please take these veggies!" "Er, onee-sa-?" "Priestess, please take this meat!" "V-very well..." "It looks like you're over-encumbered, priestess. Please take this bag!"
The priestess stole away into a small alley with a heavy bag upon her shoulders, then leaned with hands against a wall.
Alas, she was not priestess, neither was she a she. He was a monk, with a rather feminine appeal.
"Priestess..." he whimpered, "What is wrong with these people..." Virna Sainz
"Thank you!" Virna watched the women walk away and she shrugged before she headed down the streets, looking for the market. She was trying her best to ignore the stinging in her arm as she looked for anyone that appeared to be a priestess. Honestly, should would be happy just to find someone who had a bandage at this point. Anything more was just a plus.
She asked a few more people, mostly shop vendors, to point her in the direction of anyone who could help her and she sighed at their vague answers. One person said that a priestess had just walked by, but now they couldn't see them. She paced a bit faster as she saw a small group of people surrounding one person. Maybe one of them will know where to find this priestess.
As soon as she caught up to them, they said that the priestess had vanished in plain sight and they weren't sure of where they went. She was starting to get a little angry now. Was this some sort of joke to keep bad guys out of their city? She saw a small alley way and she huffed into it, approaching the slight women who was slumped against the wall.
"Hey lady!" She started, putting her hands up in a harmless gesture. "Do you happen to know of some sneaky priestess in the area? I've been sent on a wild goose chase to find her and I swear everyone in this town is crazy." She chuckled lightly before leaning against the wall across from the woman. She couldn't help but notice that she had beautiful eyes, but she didn't want to stare for too long and make her uncomfortable. "I'm just a dancer looking for my next gig, nothing shady, I swear."

The sudden voice caused the monk to instantly shirk and face the speaker.
Whoa-whoa-whoa! Just who was this?! Overriding the fact that she had called him a lady, the question stood: what woman in her right mind would show off so much skin? The eyes of the monk were wide as they traveled up and down the stranger’s figure like quick strokes of a calligraphy brush.
Stop, stop, relax. It is clear that this person is not from here. He needed to get himself under control.
The ground end of his staff was stabbed into the ground as he shut his eyes briefly.
“A priestess, you said...” the monk lowered his head, “I apologize to disappoint you, but there is no such priestess in this town.” He placed a hand to his chest, “But there is a monk in town.” Virna Sainz
One of Virna's white brows arched as she watched the priestess' eyes gaze over her body. She smirked as she gave her a once over as well, putting her hand on her hip in a playfully suggestive manner.
"You like what you see? You know, I don't know how your mama raised you, but I'm not afraid of flirting with ladies." She laughed until she choked upon hearing that she wasn't in fact, not a she, but actually a he. Her cheeks instantly grew red, showing stark against her dark freckles. "Oh what?" She coughed as shook her head hard and gave the stranger another glance.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were a man. You're just... so pretty." She rubbed the back of her neck nervously and kicked a small rock near her foot. "Well that's one way to start off on a bad foot." She laughed, nervously this time before she looked back to the monk and held her arm out, bangles jingling at her wrist.
"Let's start over shall we? My name's Virna. I'm a traveling dancer and I am in moderate need of a healer. A monk would work too, I guess." She winked at him playfully as she looked into the monk's eyes, trying to get a read for his character. "Have you never seen a desert woman before, monk? It seems that I'm making you nervous." She tilted her head slightly and her left ear gave a small twitch as she did so.

Pretty. What a cursed word to his ears. Surely the gods who thunk it funny to make a man look like a woman are laughing.
The monk glanced at the hand that was extended to him. This was a form of greeting that he was none too familiar with.
“Hrm,” he shifted slightly in his place, “Virna-san, is it...” He studied her hand a little while longer before his eyes wandered back up to her face. Now that he thought about it, she had pointed ears. “I will admit, I’ve never seen the likes of a desert woman before, l... let alone an elven desert woman.” His eyes diverted away before he bowed toward her, “Er... I am Akamizu Atsushi. I am an itinerant monk.”
Having had bowed, the heavy backpack on his back sagged forward, but his bend remained resolute. Virna Sainz
Virna's face stayed a deep shade of red as she watched the monk bow to her and she felt like smacking herself in the head. She was near the heart of Hoshido, people had manners here and didn't go around shaking hands. She had spent too much time traveling to be able to keep the culture differences apart from Hoshido and Nohr. She put her hands lightly on her side and gave the beautiful man a deep bow.
"Allow me to apologize, I forgot that Hoshidans don't shake hands." She grew a wide grin as he mentioned her being an elf and she poked one of her long ears. "Yeah, we're pretty unusual around these parts. My dad just couldn't resist my mom's cute little ears."
She gave a light chuckle before standing upright and watching as Atsushi struggled with his backpack. She tilted her head slightly and let out a small "tsk" and a click of her tongue.
"Tell you what, Akamizu Atsushi. It looks like you need a bit of help, and I'm in need of some help myself. I will help you carry your pack wherever it needs to go, and you can help me fix up this arm." She nodded down to her bandaged appendage and gave him a big smile. "And maybe you can help me find some cheap food to eat until I can dance again." She put her hand on her hip before looking back at Atsushi, smiling as she saw her big wolf lumbering down the alleyway, happy to be reunited with his owner.
"Oh hey Soultan, I wondered where you ran off to."

Atsushi’s body swung back up at the mention of the backpack. “Oh, no, the pack is fine. I’m used to carrying heavy things.” Granted, he had been traveling rather light lately. “As far as healing you and getting food goes, well...”
Just as he spoke, a large wolf appeared down the alleyway. The monk let out a frightful, high-pitched squeak before he pressed up against the wall, although his backpack prohibited him from going full flush. However, Virna had greeted the mangy animal with a familiarity in her voice.
“Ch-chotto, that okami is yours?” Atsushi stammered as he held his staff as if it were a barrier between him and the wolf. Virna Sainz
Virna rolled her eyes at the monk refusing to allow her to help him out. He was obviously carrying a heavy load of.. well she couldn't see it exactly, but it couldn't anything too fragile otherwise he would be much more protective of it.
"What exactly do you have in there anyway? Are you a traveling merchant as well as a monk?" She chuckled as she bent down to give Soultan a tight hug and she beamed, her energy in that moment matching the bright yellow hues of her clothes. "Mhmm. His name is Soultan. He's a good boy, you don't have to be afraid of him." She looked up at him clutching his staff and her face dropped. Was this guy for real? It was just a wolf, which are basically just toothy dogs.
"You don't get out much, do you? We have plenty of these guys in the desert." She patted her wolf's head before standing back up and putting her hand on her hip. She started giggling lightly and she gave him an incredulous smile. "Atsushi-san, I have a lot of things to warn you about if this big fur ball frightens you so much."

“J... just things the people donated to me,” the monk replied, he gave the wolf a wary glance, “... It is common practice for this village to give a part of their harvest to monks and priestesses...” His hands wrapped nervously around his staff, “... And for your information, I’ve only traveled around Hoshido. We have wolves around here too, you know... big ones.” He shook his head, “Ne... so long as he doesn’t bite, it’s fine.”
The fellow hopped in place as he readjusted the straps on his shoulders, “Oof. Well, let’s get your wounds healed.” He held his staff up in the air, whispering a gentle chant, thus from the club end a bright glow enveloped and fell upon the wounds that Virna sustained.
Eventually, the wounds were healed, and the staff was put aside as he began to walk down the alley, “Let’s go.” Virna Sainz
"Awww, that's really sweet. We didn't have too many monks where I came from. Most of the people went off and became warriors." She gave him a sideways glance when he said that he had never left Hoshido. What a boring life! There was so much to explore in other parts of the world. "Really? Only ever in Hoshido? Have you ever considered crossing the border? The wolves out here are pretty big. Besides, don't tell Soultan that he's kind of small." She bent down to cover the wolf's ears. "He's a bit sensitive about it. Do you guys get any big spiders out this way?"
She nodded and stood still so he could heal her. She couldn't help but giggle at the slight tickling sensation that fell upon her skin as it stitched itself back together. She bowed deeply when he lowered his staff and she gave him a bright smile. "Thank you so much. I promise, once I'm able to dance a bit, I'll pay you in full. Unfortunately I'm a little low on funds right now." She paced after him as he began walking and she began to hum a bit before she met his stride and glanced at his fair face.
"So what's your story, monk? Why do you like healing people? Have you ever considered traveling?"

“It’s fine, you don’t need to pay me for anything,” Atsushi waved his hand. “I will always have provision in abundance and poverty.” They went a little ways before he considered her next question. “My story... ne, my story is not a happy one. I have no home, nor do I have a master. Traveling is my only option as far as I am concerned. I won’t bore you.”
They came to an open street, thus the monk turned southward, “What about you, Virna-san? What is your reason for coming to Hoshido besides... whatever it is you do?” Virna Sainz
Virna paced after him quickly, brows furrowing at the mention of her not paying him. "But, if you're providing me with a service, I should pay you. Hopefully I could possibly keep you from ever experiencing poverty. Take it from me, it's not fun." She met his pace easily, her limber legs meeting his strides. Her head tilted and she pouted a bit as she listened to him speak. It must have been so lonely for him, nowhere to go and no master.
"Don't you ever get tired of being by yourself Atsushi-san? Also, you're not boring me. Just don't start talking about radish harvests and you'll keep me interested." She chuckled and she put her arms behind her back and stretched while they walked.
"Oh me? I'm just your typical traveling dancer. I hop from town to town, dancing while people pay me, and leaving when they stop. Sometimes I get hired to dance for a small skirmish to help foot soldiers out, but normally I just dance for any patron willing to watch. My hometown is actually in Hoshido, just very far south. I just headed north to see what the capital holds for me, and plus I was hoping to find the mysterious blue haired dancer I always hear rumors about." Her cheeks flushed at the mention of her, feeling like a child searching for their hero.
"But, I'm just happy to travel. Where do you normally travel to? What do you do to pass the time?"

The very words brought the image of a wide field of beautiful purple radishes to his mind...
Ah... no, put away that thought! There was no need to remember dead things in the past!
The monk shook his head once again and cleared his throat. There was something Virna-san was talking about... oh, yes, her occupation. A dancer. That should’ve been really obvious, although there were a number of less graceful guesses in the back of his mind.
“I see, a dancer,” Atsushi nodded, “Yes, traveling is good for the spirit. I, ah, never really traveled so heavily until recently... er, and time is precious to me. I do not see the purpose of letting time run without having proper reason to.” His eyes trailed across the ground, “... not since... things happened. Anyway.” He pointed to a patch of dirt by the side of the road, “We’ll set down there. I’ve enough ingredients to feed us substantially.” He made his way to the clear ground and set his pack and staff down. Virna Sainz
Virna watched the odd monk as he seemed to flutter between being in this world and one of his own mind. He sure what a spacey character, or perhaps deep-thinking is how most people would describe it. He seemed as though the things in his past were still shadowing over him and weighing him down.
"What sort of things happened Atsushi-san?" She tried to pick up his formalities as to not offend him as she sat next to him on the ground, ordering Soultan to lay behind her as to not scare the monk. She was never one to dodge major questions, if she wanted an answer she would take the easiest way to get it. "Why exactly are you traveling? Are you running away from something?"
She leaned closer to the monk to get a better look at him and she blushed as her stomach let out a loud grumble. She put her hands over her exposed midriff and she chuckled. "Sorry about that, I haven't eaten in almost two days." She glanced at him pulling things out of his pack and her eyes widened in wonder at all of the delicious looking items. "Wow, people must really like you around here. That stuff looks amazing!"
