Featured Characters:
Evelyn
Asinine
Summary:
After traveling to a no-name township in Nohr and spending the last of her spare money on armor for Mortimer, Evelyn was forced to seek out employment as a mercenary. To do so, she found a small tavern where various others in similar situations gathered. A young man in a wheelchair being pushed by a silent servant arrived looking for a bodyguard. Evelyn volunteered for the position, and after collecting Mortimer, they left.
Evelyn's employer was looking to collect an unknown item from a shady contact--a Dark Mage of unknown origin. To meet him, they went to an alley on the outskirts of town. As anticipated, a fight broke out. While Evelyn succeeded to protecting her charge from grievous harm, she was knocked out in the process and her charge was forced to finish off both the mage and his pet Bael.
Following the fight, her charge brought her to his home to be healed. There, she learned he was "Asinine" Eisle, heir to the Eisle family of scholars. When asked to introduce herself in turn, she gave the assumed name Evelyn Brandon. Once fully healed, she was given the agreed upon 400 gold and the two went their separate ways.
Battle Results:
Allies:
Asinine
Enemies:
Dark Mage
Bael
Battle Summary & Outcome
Partial Victory
Evelyn dealt two blows to the mage and one to the Bael. The Mage hit her once with a fireball in the shoulder, the Bael bit her once in an unspecified location (probably an arm), and the mage dealt a second fireball to the chest, rendering her unconscious. Asinine was forced to finish off both opponents. He missed one shot on the Mage, which allowed the mage to deal the finishing blow on Evelyn. The rest were all successful.
However, there were no ally deaths and both enemies were defeated.
Closing Remarks:
"I don't think it was a very auspicious start, both as a first meeting and as my first job as a mercenary. Even though I suppose I did protect Master Eisle in the end, it felt like I caused him more trouble than assistance. And he was so hard to read! I'm still not sure if he was mad at me, or if that's just how he is."
