An Open Roleplay with a most unsavory Fierre Bergstrom La Faucon Rouge, Notre Sagesse
Night
Evening had fallen over Notre Sagesse as a lone cloaked figure proceeded into the town. There was a heaviness to their steps, but not in the sense of weakness or dread.
No, there was anger, wrath, even. Something had awoken within, a resentful beast with a growing appetite for retribution.
The dudgeon had festered, and it was time for recompense.
At this hour, the tavern was loud and boisterous, filled with unruly folk that were armed to the teeth. In one sense, the town had been invaded by bandits and brigands who chased out and/or murdered resistance, but to the person who arrived, they were sent from a specific party to occupy.
The door of the tavern was swung open with two hands and the slam of wood, and instantly the tavern became hushed. Gazes, inquiring, inebriated, and irritable, crossed over to the doorway at the figure. A woman, dressed in a scarlet frock and a long dark mantle, with eyes lit with the hue of blood, curled hair like untarnished gold, and irate brow wrinkled with the grudge of weeks upon weeks of sleepless nights.
“Oooh, lookit what we ‘ave ‘ere,” said a large-bellied man with an intoxicated drawl, “Y’want to ’ave a little fun, luv?”
The woman flexed her fingers as her body arched forward, cloak dropping like a weight on the ground, “Fun is a relative term, and I’m about to have mine.”

Even as the woman entered the bar, a hooded figure was hunched over a table, tye remaints of their drink in a mug no longer in their grasp. The mystery woman's entrance did not draw their attention, for indeed it seemed they had passed out. Indeed, even as she spoke there was on the barest of a twitch from beneath that hood. So silent were they, they almost appeared dead.
That was, until a drunkard staggered into them, a hand trying to snag the coin purse that hung from their waist. There was barely a movement, and the figure was standing, sword in hand and pressed against the drunkards throat. "I wouldn't try that," came the deadly whisper.
Pushing her hood back with her free hand, the face of the figure was revealed, a slightly haggard looking kitsune, hair cut short, and not well maintained. "You know what they say about foxes..."

“Aw, c’mon now,” the plump sot burped as he clumsily staggered toward her, “I ain’t ‘eard o’ wimmen takin’ the lead ‘ere…”
The irate woman’s eyes shifted to the movement within her peripheral vision as another person stood out of their seat. White was the hair of the mercenary, and while she looked a little out of sorts, the scarred face was quickly recognizable. Far more recognizable, amidst the odorous reeking of the unclean sort, was the scent of the fox.
Leliana? So this is where you ended up…?
“Oy, ahm talkin’ to ya’!” The drunkard’s grimy hand reached up and grasped onto her shoulder, and in that instant, the hand was swiftly arrested as he was flung into the air like a ragdoll, then slammed back into the ground with a satisfying crash. The sound had a sobering effect as certain mercenaries began to pull out of their seats with their weapons drawn.
“The hell!? Who are you?!”
With a slam of her foot on the backside of the unconscious, prostrated man, the woman saucily shifted her hip, placed her hands upon them, and tilted her head back with a condescending glare. A second later, her clothes melded into her skin, forming hard scarlet scales. Her skirt split gracefully apart into sinewy, arm-like wings with hands that tore into the floorboards. Finally, a talon-tipped tail whipped side to side and horns like sharpened forks arose from the crown of her head.
“You will call me...” she hissed as her crimson eyes burned with rage, “... Madame.”Leliana

The last few jobs had... to say they had gone poorly would be a grave understatement. Not bad enough to make her quit the business, but enough that she hadn't bothered grabbing any new jobs in awhile. Best to let the heat die down, but that in turn left her without a steady supply of coin.
Right now she was sitting in a corner of the dingy tavern, veils of magic surrounding her to give the appearance of just another drunkard. She didn't want any attention, especially not from the other mercenaries. She couldn't deal with their mockery right now; she wanted to get black-out drunk and hope things were better in the morning.
That all changed when a certain figure burst in the doors. Fila jolted to full focus. 'Fierre?' What was the Madame doing here? And Leliana too, based on the murmurs she could hear from a nearby table. The violent display in front of her was no concern; if the Madame was here, then that meant there was the potential for paying work. Fila let the illusion drop, the longcoat and wide-brimmed had shifting into view. She tiled her hat up from the back corner, watching the Madame.
It was a very good day for Fila.

Making a noise before a grumble and pleading for mercy, the drunken man raised his hands defensively. Releasing him, the fox turned her attention to the Madame, and the scene evolving in front of her. Even as the mercenaries drew their swords, a fell light seemed to fall over Leliana's eyes, her lips widening into a twisted smile.
The first mercenary didn't even have time to scream as Leliana fell upon him, her blade wounding and disabling, but not killing as she left him bleeding on the floor. Her gait was bestial, loping as she launched herself into the fray. Her blade met her second foe's own, before she dropped her guard and darted beneath his, hilt slamming into his head.

“Th... that’s her!” said one with a look of pure terror, “Is he serious?! We’re just supposed to subdue her?!”
Just as he spoke, it seemed that Leliana made the first move, plunging herself into a beast-like frenzy on one side of the tavern, throwing the rest of the brigands in a minor panic. Those who did not want to be involved in the tussle pressed themselves against the walls, and some put up fortifications with tables to protect themselves with should objects start flying.
“You three! Take care of the kitsune!” cried the centermost man, “The rest of us, take down the manakete!”
A shrill battle cry followed as the mercenaries advanced upon the Madame from all sides, weapons raised and eyes full of bold fear.
For a brief moment, it felt as if time slowed, a second of hesitation.
Surely there are some here that would be useful to me... she thought, ... Alas, a shame that they would raise arms against me for the sake of my brother’s gold.
... Ah, yes.
Let’s not forget why I’m so angry.
With the approaching fighters upon her, the Madame folded her arms and caused the delicate membrane of her wings to into her back limbs, claws on the ends curled into fists, and with her body leaned forward, she began her retaliation with ravenous rancor. Powerful strikes like thunderous steel war hammers assailed the bodies of the frontmost warriors, crushing metal, flesh, and bone with each wild swing.
“Get back! Get back you idiots!” the leader roared, “Forget subduing her! Kill her! Kill her before she kills us!”

A few mercenaries hit the floor without breathing their last, much to their good fortune. Sadly, a shredding fog of dark magic, lobbed from the back of the tavern, ensured they would not rejoin the battle. Fila stands up from her seat, but doesn't leave her shadowed corner just yet. She liked watching the Madame fight, and she didn't want to become one of Leiliana's targets. It was hard to tell how much discretion her fellow mercenary was picking her targets with.
Best let the Madame of Leliana deal with this rabble, then Fila could approach. She did want to catch up with her employer, after all. It wasn't every day a manakete walked into a bar to pick a fight, not that Fila minded killing a few of the doctor's associates.
>Heartseeker: This unit receives bonuses when attacking opponents in defensive support and guard. +10 HIT on defensive supporting units. +20 HIT for guarding unit. +15 HIT for guarded unit.
One of the men was being unusually loud. A leader, of some description then. Or a fool. It didn't matter to Leliana, for he had made himself a target to her all the same.
Bounding across the room, she ignored those who tried to attack her, either outpacing them, or simply blocking their attacks where they fell. She had no hesitation, no reprieve as she struck him, sword lancing into whatever meagre guard he might have mustered.
The kitsune was closer to a wild animal than a fighter, her short, sharp actions guided by some instinct rather than any semblance of fighting style.
Once he was dealt with, unconscious not dead, she howled, the sound echoing in the tight space as she dived back into her mercenary foe.

As Leliana continued her attack, the Madame’s barrage on the frontal team caused them to falter. Before she would arrive to their leading figure, a pair of strong men appeared on both her sides and bravely wrapped their burly arms around her titanic wrists, weighing them down and causing her assault to relent.
“Strong!” the Madame smiled as her legs bent from their weight, “I do wish you boys weren’t working for your client. I could’ve made good use of this muscle of yours...”
The brigand captain drew his blade and chuckled, “Shame, really! You’d probably make a terrible, but beautiful wife!”
“A few hundred years too late for that.”
The woman’s larger limbs began to pulsate as the surface of the scales became an iridescent white, and the men holding her arms were slowly lifted from off of the ground.
Seeing this growth in strength, the captain roared and ran forward, thrusting his blade to her face with reckless abandon. The clang of metal resounded in the room, causing a brief serenity to follow.
Then, a low hiss. The snout of a dragon had appeared on her face.
The old blade was caught, snagged between ivory fangs in the draconic mouth of the Madame. The captain pulled his arms away frantically, leaving his sword planted where it was. Rifts began to visibly run across the steel surface until the weapon burst from the strength of her maw. She spat out what shards ended up in her mouth, and with a great heave of her larger arms, smashed the heads of her captors into each other, causing their grip to falter.
When their bodies thumped onto the ground, the Madame folded her arms and spoke thus, “As landowner of this establishment and proprietor of L’Faucon Rouge, I have the entitlement whereby I may forcefully evict individuals from the premises. This is an entitlement that I hold with incredible reverence and esteem.”
Suddenly, a sense of cheerful derision, “Ah, but there’s no fun in that, is there?” Her eyes wandered across the room in no particular direction, “My trusted friends, my closest allies, I call you hither for the first contract since our parting.” Her eyes focused on the brigand captain before her, “I promise a sum of gold to the one who brings me the head of this man before me, as I have researched beforehand that he is indeed a murderer of innocent blood!”
The brigand captain let out a nervous chuckle, “H... hah! Who would stand with you, monster?!”LelianaFila

As those last few words are spoken by the brigand captain, the front door would open yet again as a figure with a dark red cloak would enter the tavern. Though the door didn't slam against the wall like it had done for Fierre, it still made a noise noticeable enough for every remaining person in the room to hear.
Upon entering the establishment the figure would look around, first seeing all of the chaos that had ensued before his arrival. Sighing lightly at this he'd then spot the cloak that the dragoness had shed upon entering the place, and leaning down he'd pick it up before holding it over his shoulder.
"Well... This will have been the second time I mostly missed out on a big battle.." Sighing lightly he'd start walking over toward Fierre and the brigand captain. To the keen eyed a slight movement would be noticed in the lower back of his cloak from his tail moving somewhat in excitement as he walks closer to his true employer. On being only a few feet from them both he'd glance to the captain for a moment, the 'human' that had been ordering him while he was gathering information. And pulling out his sword, Chrim would swiftly hold it at the man's neck as he reaches for his own hood and pulls it down, easily showing his kitsune features to everyone there now.
"I stand with her.. And you 'captain', are being relieved of your position and life for misconduct, murder of many innocents, stealing, raiding a few villages and a couple more things I shall not name... So with all this said, your judgement is far passed due and the madam's contract is accepted along with being completed." With those final words the mercenaries sword would quickly and efficiently cut off the man's head. Then sheathing his blade he'd let out another tired sigh. "I've been wanting to end his life and a few other people's while 'working' for the various 'humans' if you can call these beasts that.."
Good Fortune At the start of every round, this unit may roll under their SKILL stat. If the check succeeds, then this unit recovers five health points.
Fila watches Chrim walk to Fierre's side. Good, she'd have some people to physically stand with. In the meantime, Fila would do what she always did, slaughtering her enemies. A caress across her tome trails its usual dark mist, coiling into a ball of thrashing, black fog.
She pitches it at the back of the brigand captain. Call her an employer a 'monster', would he? Perhaps she was, but Fila would brook know insult against those who had her loyalty. Once more into the fray. Better than rotting away here, she'd tell herself.
Fila didn't consider herself above attacking someone without warning, after all.

The last few of the mercenaries fell to Leliana, her bounding gait guiding her to and fro, till she stood in front of the madame, her sword dripping crimson. Eyeing yhe woman, she moved fluidly, and placed the blade gently against the manakete's throat. "Well met, Madame. It has been, many moons since last we spoke. Do you still hunt fish?" She asked unbashed, staring at her piercingly.
Eventually, if the Madame gave her the answer she desired, the bestial light faded from her eyes, and she withdrew her sword, wiping the blood from it, and sheathing it. "It is good to see you, Madame. Sorry for the... suspicion, but these are strange times."

"W-Wait, wha--" and so the captain's head was lopped from his shoulders and landed before Chrim. At the same time, a dark bolt flew and crashed onto his body, consuming it within moments of impact.
The deed had been done. Those of the brigand party had been utterly slain.
"Well, you did a good job so far," said the Madame, "Not much else a mercenary can do but scoure for contracts, else you'd actually be participating in that good-for-nothing war..."
Then, Leliana finally finished her carnage, and, much to the Madame's visible displeasure, pointed her blade to her neck. Her eyes lit once more with emotion, "Leliana, a pursued bear has no time to hunt for fish. If you had known the tribulations I've gone through in the last few months, you would not dare ask such a question." She allowed the talons of her wings to rest on her shoulders, "My brother and I had a very long and very tumultuous disagreement, and while I did not prove my point to him, we left each other with something to think about."
Should they take a closer look, her left wing was missing a digit, and a three-claw scar ran across her shoulder to her backside.
"Let it be sufficient to say that all these here were small fry compared to him."FilaLelianachrim

"I suppose that is true... However compared to working for yourself, working for most humans is a horrible thing with how most of them I've met are..."
Just sighing at this as there is a somewhat tired expression on his face, it would quickly be replaced as this person holds their blade against his leaders throat... As he is about to have his own blade facing her, he'd quickly realize that she is also a kitsune. And so there would be a bit of hesitance as he is now met at a slight dilemma.
In that time Fierre had said some of what she'd gone through as a reply to the female kitsune's question, and seeming to be satisfied with the answer their blade would lower.
"... I agree that these are strange times. However, I suppose they could always be stranger.." Just saying these words, the kitsune mercenary heads over to one of the chairs, and sitting in it he'd take off the cloak he wore while walking into the building showing to the room that there is actually two kitsune's in the room along with the angry manakete.
"So... What's the plan now then?"
