ATSUSHI OF AKAMIZU IN...
~ THE PRINCELY RICE FARMER ~
An Open One-on-One Roleplay
Akamizu Village, 2:00 PM
As far as wars go, humans will be humans and desire sustenance to help them push forward against the enemy. If it were not for a stable supply of food, efforts will be crippled, research would seize, and the war would be lost. Even a tactician with great skill and ability would never forget to feed himself!
Akamizu Village, one of the many larger farming communities that supply the Hoshidan food stock and home to the proud rice farmers, known for their strong backs and excellent cooking. The Akamizu are responsible for supplying a nearly a third of edible resources to the capital, but they contribute more toward sustaining the war effort by keeping bellies full and spirits high.
Of course, there is more to just food than simply feeding. There is great pleasure to be had when tasting the multitudes of flavors a single bite may offer, this is why it is desired that food be savored and eaten slowly. Woe to the child who devours like a pig, for what comes in under-chewed may very well come out the same way!
"That's gross, Oji-sensei!" a little girl blurted out with her hand on her mouth. The rest of the children in the classroom, varying in ages and heights, giggled at her complaint.
Before them, their teacher lowered a scroll to reveal his kind and winsome face. He rolled the scroll together, then wiggled a finger at the girl.
"This is a wise saying, Ebi-chan," he replied with an elegant smile, "Food is to be treated like a royalty: polite, unhurried, and ever cautious. So it must be when you eat your food. Etiquette would suit the village princess well." At his response, the girl's eyes brightened and she nodded her head.
At this time, a gong resounded in the distance, signaling the turn of the sun on the afternoon hour. The young teacher clapped his hands twice to gather the attention of murmuring students.
"Children, our lesson is at a close. You may leave the school house."
Despite his words, the children tarried a little longer with their teacher even as he rose to walk back to the main house, bombarding him with every question they could think of.
"Oji-sensei! Did you meet any of the royal princesses in Kitsuki?" "Were there any samurai as handsome as you?" "Is it true that you met Lord Ryoma in the flesh while you were there?"
"Ehhhh..." he drawled with furrowed brows. His gaze had gone further down the road, landing on a peculiar sight. A cart was upside down with its wheels sticking up in the air, sitting motionless inside of a rice paddy.
"Everyone, stay back," he instructed with a small wave of his hand, "It looks like someone is in trouble." As the children stopped in their tracks, the teacher proceeded forth and came astride of the cart in the paddy. "Hello? Are you alright?"
