Fort Dragonfall. Starring @mrcamm4 and Mitsuko ' Lily Marleen' Nakajima Early morning.
Mitsuko was able to land herself a position of a junior officer at Fort Dragonfall using some of the connections she'd made while working for the black market. Nohr's system was corrupt to the core and she exploited this to her own benefit. The young woman arrived that morning riding her trusty black Pegasus Kurogane. Mitsuko was all geared up for the occasion , using a mask to hide her visage. It had been the same black carnival mask she'd worn during her days as a mercenary doing oddjobs along the border.
" This place is a mess! " She'd heard stories of this seemingly legendary fortress but the whole thing looked in dire need of an authority figure. There was no semblance of order amongst the troops and when she asked a guard to meet the commanding officer she got the following reply:
" I suppose that would be you, Lieutenant." Answered the spear wielding soldier standing at the gate of the fortress.
" Unbelievable! now how am I supposed to know which unit i'm assigned to." Deciding it would be pointless to leave she ventured further, leaving her Pegasus in the care of the fort veterinary. From the entrance she could see the lack of discipline of some of these men.
Darting Blow: Learned at level 1 When this unit initiates battles, their SPEED is increased by 5 for that battle.
Arthur lay spread out on his cot, his arms crossed behind his head as he slipped in and out of consciousness. He could hear Roshi in his tank chewing on a piece of lettuce slowly. He sighed, letting out a long breath through his nose. For a military fort, this place was really boring. Probably the reason he got moved out there. He had been labelled by many of his superiors as a "wild card" and thus, was constantly shifted from post to post to find somewhere that he would fit with. That was the worst part for Arti. He wanted to try and live up to his father's legacy, but his own nature led him to being less willing to act in a subordinate way. That must be why the higher ups were trying something new by putting him in charge of his own squad this time around. Maybe the responsibility would finally shape him up into a proper soldier.
The higher ups ended up stabbing themselves in the foot with this move, however. Where they gave him a squad was one of the least active areas at this time and it didn't take long for Arthur to realize that making Roshi sprint was easier than trying to make his men actually do something.
The swordsman was just beginning to nod off when he heard a loud voice shouting at the guard outside. He opened up one eye and looked in the direction of the shouting. Must be someone knew to run their unit, seeing as their last lieutenant had been promoted and moved to greener pastures. Arthur sighed again and got up out of his bed, strapping his sword to his waist as he rose to his feet. He walked outside, rolling one shoulder to loosen it up as he searched around for their new commander. It didn't take long to find them. The frustrated woman stomping around hadn't been there before and she didn't have the same lethargy the rest of the soldiers did around here.
"Afternoon, lieutenant," Arthur greeted the woman, giving a lazy salute. "What can I do you for?"
Few things enraged Mitsuko as much as undisciplined troops. She'd seen better drilled teenage cadets than this supposed garrison of ' professionals'. It was then when she realized her connections had sent her to the regiment where all the troublemakers and slackers where dumped into.
' I guess i'll have to start this from the very bottom. these so called soldiers are not better than the brigands terrorizing the countryside.' Mitsuko's lack of faith on these people was granted a physical form in the shape of a disheveled swordsman. Arthur's salute was half-assed, his expression looked almost as if he'd been napping not to long ago- those where minor details she could overlook, what she simply couldn't ignore and was the most offensive detail of it all was his unbuttoned collar. Good NCOs where instrumental in keeping the morale of the unit high- a trait these people certainly lacked.
" Good afternoon, soldier. Where is your sergeant or whichever NCO is on charge?" She inquired, saluting back at Arthur as it was customary. There was no need for her to yell after just arriving here, she would rather save her energies for the person ' in charge' whoever that was.
Damn. Not even five minutes she had been here and Arthur had already earned himself a grilling simply by being the new guy in charge. He scratched the side of his head and smiled sheepishly, his mind racing as he tried to think of a way to avoid getting he and his men's ass chewed out for being lazy. "That would be me, ma'am," he replied, shifting from foot to foot uncomfortably. "You'll have to excuse the men for their current state. It's been quite a while since of them were sent to do anything."
Arthur gave her another well meaning grin before gesturing behind him. "Would you like a tour of the premises? Get you acquainted with the space and introduce you to a few of the men?"
" Its a soldiers duty to always be prim and proper no matter what." Now that Arthur had identified himself as the man in charge it was time for disciplinary action. Mitsuko recognized him from that bounty the other day now but he probably couldn't since she'd cut her hair shorter and that happened a few weeks or so ago.
" This place is a complete and utter mess, how can you people call this your barracks? What you are going to do is assemble all of them men and give them mops and buckets. We're going to spend what's left of this morning cleaning this god damned hen house and your filthy uniforms. then in the afternoon we're doing a ruck march with all of our gear and you will lead the men. As long as i'm assigned to this post I wont tolerate any slacking off. If I catch anyone messing around when on duty that person will be severely punished and that is not an empty threat I one hundred percent assure you." Mitsuko was not pleased with the nonchalant attitude of these people, they had more in common with a third rate, rowdy militia group than a proper standing army.
" I don't care that there's no fighting to go around! You will make certain everyone here occupies its time doing something productive." Mitsuko might have been an Hoshidan officer but the lack of decorum of this soldier was an offense to anyone serving in whichever branch of service of the armed forces.
