Starring Mitsuko Nakajima and West Aldanier. Windmire. Early evening.
It had been two weeks since Miss Nakajima left for Hoshido on what seemed like a normal intel gathering assignment. Mitsuko sent letters back to her employers on the black market on a daily basis, depicting her progress by using a code which needed to be deciphered. It would take days for those letters to arrive but she hoped to give the people responsible for writing her checks a good idea of what she was up to.
Mitsuko never got too much into specifics even though all the writing was in code. After several days of painstaking effort she returned to Nohr via air using her credentials as a Nohrian mercenary. She'd also informed her employers at the PMC firm of some of the progress she'd made tearing apart the Hoshidan country side so by the time Kurogane showed up at the Nohrian border she was taken in to get paid.
By the late afternoon of that day Mitsuko was already back in Windmire, wearing a fancy new dress she bought using the blood money she got from the military contractors. Her Pegasus now being pampered on the stables in the outskirts of the city reserved for obnoxiously wealthy people and members of the black market.
The raven haired young lady was different at a glance, she'd gotten a haircut getting rid of her long twin tails entirely. On her left hand she carried a leather portfolio full of scrolls and their translations she'd wrote while on duty. Her reports would amount to nothing if showed no proof of her exploits. On her other hand there was a larger duffel bag loaded with souvenirs for her work colleagues as well just as she'd promised.

As night fell over Windmire, a particular carriage arrived to the underground base of Black Market, where a line of mercenaries stood in wait. As the carriage became still, the door was kicked open, and the elf descended the staircase.
"Boss!" the mercenaries saluted, "Glad to see you."
"Hm-hm, yes," West nodded, "Anything to report?"
One fellow approached him, "Ms. Nakajima has returned from Hoshido with a lot of stuff."
"... A lot of stuff," the elf furrowed his brow and smirked, "Come now! I'm sure you can come up with a better word for 'stuff!'"
"Uhhh..." the mercenary scratched his temple with his finger, "... Intel...?"
"Gooooood!" West patted the man's bald head ingratiatingly, "Very good! I see progress with our pupil department! A little, but at least it's something..." He slid his hands in his pockets and proceeded with slumped shoulders into the headquarters.
Now in his office, the elf sat down and sunk into his armchair. Hopefully Mitsuko's trip yielded some fruit...
Since everyone was aware of her return no one really stopped Mitsuko on her way down to the catacombs. If this cargo she was now carrying was less important then she would have gotten someone to carry them but she didn't trust any of these people with that responsibility.
Out of breath she arrived at West's office, taking a seat, Mitsuko was well aware her boss was a busy man so there was no need to interrupt any other important business he might or might not be currently attending.
After a minute or two of silence she stood up from her seat going over the door to knock it. " May I come in, sir? " She called out after knocking twice. Once access was granted Mitsuko slowly opened door presenting herself to West with her new much shorter hair style.
" I got something you might like, boss. " Since West was more or less aware of that assignment she skipped the formalities and began rummaging around the bag packed with souvenirs. From there she retrieved a neatly tied up box which contained a brand new porcelain set and two cups for the traditional Hoshidan tea ceremony.
There where also three packages of ingredients for old fashioned bitter Hoshidan tea and all the utensils used in its making. " These are all for you. " In the bag there where also new Hoshidan style parasols- one pink and a blue one all beautifully decorated and some of those creepy Geisha wearing Hoshidan dolls but those where meant for Fierre.

Shortly after she had entered, she wasted no time in presenting her gifts, and in turn West's face brightened with cheer. "My! You've been busy this last week, haven't you!" Before him was laid a beautifully handcrafted tea cup set. He recognized this! Were not these particular items used for tea ceremonies? And this tea! The aroma was ever so pleasantly welcomed.
"How absolutely splendid!" the elf expressed with a gleeful smile, "To have gone out of your way to collect these souvenirs... ah, I am absolutely touched. Absolutely touched!" The latter end was spoken with such emphasis that his head moved with each syllable. He carefully took one of the tea cups into his hand and held it up to view it. What marvelous creativity! Such intricate beauty! Surely Mitsuko isn't after a raise or a place of higher position?
"Ohoho..." he chortled, "This is a most valuable gift, Ms. Nakajima. I don't suppose you wish to get on my good side with this?" One of his eyes opened cheekily, "After all, it's a little known fact in the company that I am an absolute aficionado of tea. Very few people know about that except for a choice few. Did someone let you in on it?"
" You seem like a refined gentleman and a tea connoisseur yourself. I could tell straight away." Mitsuko might have been a traitor to her country but she wasn't going to rat out on Fierre. Not to mention this way she would look better in West eyes.
Weston was in such good spirits she couldn't help but snatch his glasses only to take a good look at them and then back at his expression with those excited red eyes.
" Any man that carries himself with your level of composure and stature must certainly be a tea fanatic. " One of the few perks of being a snob herself was that she knew exactly how to praise people with similar cultured tastes. She already knew from her blonde friend their boss was all about herbal mixtures so it was only a matter to present him a truly exotic gift. The girl returned the elf's glasses with no further delay finding him to be more attractive with those on.
" Think nothing of this. This is mere proof I was out on my assignment, sir." While she wanted to please West this gesture was her way of showing appreciation for being given an opportunity. In no way she expected to get more than a few kind words.
" This is what really matters." Now that he was finished reviewing the souvenirs it was time to take a close look at all the documents she had stolen from the center of government that had been unfortunate enough to lay in her path. Prior to committing those act of sabotage Mitsuko had gathered all sort of documents from regional institutions. Everything from amount of taxes collected, the number of crops harvested in each particular farm and even reports with information regarding Hoshidan troop movement she'd manage to put together by listening in to careless drunken soldiers.
There where also maps of all four major military Hoshidan districts along the border and the road layout that connected all the forts to the capital, the number of defensive position and a more or less accurate estimate of the size of those units.
West froze in place as his spectacles left his nose. His eyes squinted briefly as he attempted to make out her figure.
Ah, truly, eye sight was a troubling thing.
When the glasses were returned to him, he readjusted them onto his nose bridge, "... Mmm, yes... indeed." He took the dossier from her and scanned it briefly.
Suddenly, a long, wicked smile crept on his face and both hands grasped the sides of the document gleefully. "Hmmmmm! Fascinating. You've certainly done your damage! King Garon would kiss rings for this kind of information." A deep-throated chuckle reverberated in the room, "... Oho... ohohohohohoho, yes... very good. VERY good."
However, the document was put aside, and his visage faded back to his regular cheerful self, "Wonderful job, Mitsuko. I'll need to scan through this a little bit more in-depth, but I'd say you deserve a break from your work. As always, expect your payment to arrive while you rest."
" There's no telling when this information might become outdated. My countrymen can be quite unpredictable, especially if they suspect there's a leak somewhere. " The problem with Intelligence was that it was subject to change. Too many factors had to be accounted for and even then these numbers where mere estimates based on her observations from the air and a few other documents she'd managed to steal.
" Indeed! i'm quite exhausted. I've been on the road since yesterday morning so I could use a break." She was already quite at peace with the idea of this information reaching the mad king of Nohr. If there was someone who would exploit this it was that decrepit ruler. As much as Mitsuko despised the king she hated the arrogant Samurai class even more.
Seeing that maniac grin on West face brought a satisfied feeling to Mitsuko. Her entire face turned red all of a sudden but she wasn't exactly embarrassed. This warm feeling tingled deep within her soul, what could it possible mean?
" Actually before I leave ... I was wondering if you would be interested to join me in a tea ceremony. I would be honored to count with your presence, sir. That could be my ' reward ' for bringing you this new set." Before leaving for Hoshido she'd noticed that Fierre was flirting around with some Knight so that meant West was more than probably 'available'.

"A perceptive concern," spoke West with a nod, "Military information runs risk of being irrelevant in a matter of days, hours, and even minutes! Who knows, even as we speak, the information within your dossier could have changed dramatically!" He waved his hand in the air as he readjusted his glasses, "But we'll let our brighter comrades parse this information and compare it with what is known of Hoshido's military thought patterns."
Her last inquiry was of some intrigue. A traditional tea ceremony?
"Hmmm..." the elf placed his hands together and puckered his lips, "... While the gesture is most wonderful and I would never hesitate under regular circumstances, I may have to get back to you on that." He ran a hand through his hair, "When your work ends, mine begins. My partner heads are to be updated with any new information that you and the rest of my dear laborers dig up. After all, we are 'Knowledge.'" Yet, he smiled once more, "When that is all done, I will not hesitate to oblige your offer." Mitsuko
" Of course, sir." It was understandable to think that her boss of all people would have a full schedule for the rest of the day.
" We can do it anytime you desire. I will be awaiting for your next instructions. now, if you would excuse me. " Now that Mitsuko was done reporting her findings it was time to be on her way and leave West to tend whatever business where pending.
The only things Mitsuko picked up was that bag full of souvenirs. The elegantly dressed young woman walked out with the same cadence in her step, not showing even the slightest sign of disappointment as she closed the door of his office behind her. after all, West expressed interest in attending the tea ceremony.
Now that Mitsuko was free of her duties it was time to rest. " I guess i'll go home and lay down all day! " She sighed quite relieved to have made it in and out of that assignment without harm and injury. The cargo she was hauling was much lighter now to say the least.
