"Excellent," Hadassah nodded. She spread her large wings and began to beat the air.
The manateke had taken flight many times before in her normal form, except flying in itself was no easy practice. She had new mental imagery, an instinct on the patterns of the wind and warm updrafts.
Of course, this was her first time flying with someone riding upon her back. She had to be extra careful.
"Hold on tight," she spoke, and shortly after, she turned toward the canyon.
Perhaps Grant had figured it out by now... but the cliff was a perfect take off platform. She immediately broke into a waddling run, shifting her great weight with little effort. Her wings spread, and she leapt off of the precipice, making a smooth transition from land to air. A twist of her head and tail and gentle lift of her wings caused her to pivot southward, directly toward Izumo.
"How are we, Grant?" she asked, "Envious of the Manateke yet?"

The phrase ‘hold on tight’ and the motion of taking off was enough to force him forward and onto his chest. In a mild panic, he wrapped his arms around the surface of the back in a hug to secure himself. Truth be told, he did not have a fear of heights at all. The butler’s sanity found tall structures quite fine- good even, for it allowed him to see the land in a way that not everybody could.
This, in contrast, was quite different from how he imagined flying to be.
“Not quite,” was the muffled response which came from him. Usually he would very much like to view the scenery from a grand vantage point. Yet it would be awfully hard to see just about anything when he had his cheeks buried tightly against scales.
“Please do tell me when we arrive there,” he added after clearing his throat in an attempt to sound calm. “I am awfully excited to arrive there.”
Line by line could be heard as if a mechanical being was reciting it. Perhaps by trying to come off as cool and collected he had accidentally forsaken the flair of human wit and warmth in his tone.
Good, Grant was still holding on, albeit his temperament has changed to something more stoic.
"Oh, don't be like that," Hadassah cooed, "Flying on one's own is much more exhilarating than flying on another's back! Long ago when I was but a fledgling, my father would often take me upon his wing when our people were to move to a different place upon the coast or a lake inland." Her tone became slightly gloomy, "... Ah, but that was so very long ago..."

“Miss Hadassah,” he spoke suddenly. “I must apologise for interrupting you. However, I have a confession.” Grant took a deep breath of air in as he turned his head to rest it’s side upon the wyvern’s back. At last he could speak clearly without the abundance of scales as hard as steel pressing against his face.
“I have not adjusted to flying in the slightest,” the butler’s hug tightened against the scale-lined surface. “Truth be told, I am more accustomed to being assaulted by stranger whom I do not even know than to flying.”
He opened his eyes for a few seconds only to close them to protect himself from the strong air resistance heading towards him.
“Do you happen to have any advice on coping?” The butler asked through gritted teeth.
The poor thing! Here he was probably with his heart already in the pit of his stomach while she was taking a trip down her road of memories.
Without wasting another moment, Hadassah touched down on the edge of Hoshido's border. The landing was smooth on her end, although she couldn't say the same for her partner.
"I'm afraid I lack experience with others riding upon my wing," she confessed with a dip of her head, "You're the second person to have ridden upon my back. The thing is that he went unconscious at the time, so he didn't actually give me any suggestions on how to accommodate other people, not even as I took him to a clinic."
Her form morphed back to human. Naturally, Grant ended up lying on top of her. "Maybe you can suggest some things, hm?"

Steadying himself on the ground using his hands was an easy matter. In spite of that, he was not prepared for her to return to a human form so very soon. It left him close- too close for his comfort.
Odd was how he perceived his situation more than anything else. From this range it was much easier to gaze into her eyes. A pair of golden irises amidst two separate canvases of white. They laid ever so invitingly. All the more reason for the butler to quickly retreat backwards onto his feet and away from her.
“There does not seem to be anything wrong, Miss Hadassah,” he answered after a long period of inhalation took place. The tempo of his heart started to pick up. One thump. Two thumps. Three thumps. Four. Even he could feel it’s ever-growing strength. Not a good thing in the slightest for an air of professionalism needed to be present even if they were now friends.
One thing that bothered him mildly was that she did not seem to have have any sort of feeling towards it. Could she be used to that sort of situation? It was even worse when he considered she had a stronger reaction towards his gift of all things.
“My only qualm is that I have never travelled atop a being capable of flight in my entire life.” He sighed as a hand raised to the bottom of his chin to rub. “Nevertheless, please do not let this dissuade you. I am able to endure much more than a mere flight.” A light smile graced his face.
“It is comforting that you would allow me to experience the world like no any other human would- from the wings of a true dragon.” Almost poetically put by the young man.
Hm, that position was a bit compromising, wasn't it? Grant was quick to leap off and away from her to give himself a fair amount of distance. Best to leave it alone for both their sakes.
"My only wish is that you would have experienced it a little more comfortably!" spoke the manateke as she stood back up, "Of course, my proud brethren of old have considered it a taboo to allow anyone to ride upon our backs that aren't manateke, and even then, it's extremely rare for us to come across each other nowadays." She shook her head, "That's a whole other discussion, I think. Now that we're in Hoshido, let us head southward to Izumo!" She pointed southward and started walking with a carefree gait.
