Just outside of the reach of civilized people, an opening in some brush reveals the flickering light of what appears to a campfire. The white noise crackling of the burning wood plays peacefully, making the ambiance rather relaxing. On a log facing the campfire, a young man rests, elbows against his legs as support. His eyes land directly on the dancing flames.
Quiet, this one is. Perhaps it's because he has to company with him at this time. A sword of bronze make rests against his back, tied on. A maturing voice speaks out, seeming to come from the young man.
"So, this is Nohr, one of the lands outside of my region. I wonder if any of his tales come from here.. I doubt it, this is so far from home. So far I can't really tell if there's anything to be seen in this land. Not even a fight with local brigands yet. I still don't quite understand why in order to become a great fighter I need to travel."
A light breeze passes over the small opening, rustling the several plants growing in the area. Naius reaches into his travelling pouch and removes a drink. He twists the top, creating an opening. The refreshing feeling of water entering his system passes through him. With a sharp slide, his sword is drawn. The bright reflections of light adorn the weapon's blade as Naius looks it over, inspecting it.
"I'm going to be a Hero someday, and this is merely the first chapter. I wonder who my first challenger will be."
Arthur grumbled as he trudged through the woods, kicking at sticks and under brush. "Stupid soldiers... eating all of Roshi's lettuce..." he broke a stick underneath his boot and kicked away the pieces. He had bought a fresh head of lettuce that day to feed his pet turtle with that evening only to find his comrades chowing down on it in their sandwiches and salads, leaving him with nothing to feed Roshi with and no way to get more since the markets had closed already. So now he was left scrounging for something in the woods to feed his pet with.
It didn't take long for him to see the light of a campfire as he trudged around. For a moment, concern for his pet disappeared, replaced instead with uneasiness. Slowly, he drew his sword and slowed his pace. He approached the light of the campfire, where he could hear the man sitting next to it mumbling to himself. Arthur lifted his sword up and leveled it right next to the man's neck. "State your business before you find yourself short an appendage."
The night seemed to be going fine. That is, until someone came trying to sneak up on him. Naius shifts his eyes to the right a moment before the blade reaches him, and remains silent for a moment. Judging by the context, it seems as if the guy is insisting that by being here, a trespass has been made. It could reveal the person's status, perhaps as an employed patrolman. Naius investigates.
"You sneak up on me and ask that I state my business? You know, it's more common to make friends by greeting them first."
Arthur scowled at the man's sarcastic remark towards him. He dug the blade into the man's neck a little more, his eyes flashing with annoyance. "You would do well to avoid making me mad, seeing as I have a sword at your neck," the young man replied. "Now, answer my question: who are you and why are you out here? Answer quickly. I've got stuff I have to take care of and I don't need any possible Hoshidan spies taking up my time."
Naius leans his head opposite to the blade once it presses against his neck. The cold metal is uncomfortable, but at least he isn't getting injured, right? His eyes shift towards the invader, even though he can't physically see him from this perspective. "Just a guy trying to stay warm, if that's alright with you."
His words seem to emphasize the last part, feeling agitated by the sudden forceful entrance into his camp, and the request for information. Surely now the guy will ease up, unless he came intent on doing harm.
Arthur hesitated for a moment, though he didn't move his sword away from the other man's neck. "A war is going on and you decide to go camping? Not a very wise move." He studied the man for a few moments. The man didn't look much like a Hoshidan soldier. Come to think of it, his clothes didn't seem to match the styles of Hoshidans or Nohrians. A foreigner, it seemed, though that didn't mean Arthur would just let it go. He wasn't sure of how willing the Hoshidans were of hiring foreign mercenaries.
"Just answer the question and I'll leave you along. I don't particularly enjoy bloodying my sword against anyone and I'd like to not have to act out my orders of killing suspicious persons."
Looks down to the ground, processing the information given to him. He revealed he takes orders, and seems to be carrying out some task. It seems fairly certain that this is a patrolman making his rounds, and by the importance he puts on knowing who is doing what in this area, it's likely the war he mentioned is a pretty serious one. Naius isn't one to patronize those who serve their home, and so he complies for the sake of peace. "My name is Naius, I come from a far-away continent named Tellius. My journey here is solely for the sake of growth."
Arthur paused for a moment before sheathing his sword and relaxing a bit. "Alright. You do not seem like a threat," he said. The young soldier walked around Naius and sat down across from him at the other side of the fire, resting his head in one hand and sighing. "Thanks for not being a Hoshidan. I really don't want to fight anyone right now. Tell me about this Tellius place. I've never heard of it before."
(I'm so sorry for this late reply. I didn't have my laptop for a while and was super busy)
