As the sun set and the residents of the hamlet withdrew into their homes, the chance of his success seemed as if it were waning. Perhaps he might have picked the wrong area where someone such as the target might hunt. Ultimately, the continent had a variety of places to explore- the village was only a small place. Nevertheless, he had been too far into it to pack up and leave. Committing to the bounty was now his priority.
Lo and behold, a hooded figure came appeared- not exactly too suspicious, but shifty enough to catch his attention. The butler had no one else as a suspect, so he decided to follow the person.
A lone pair of Kitsune with one arm entwined with the other wandered down a quiet lane. By the smiles on their faces, it would be delusional to assume they did not enjoy their time together.
Yet, they were not the only ones smiling. The hooded figure had his own, though barely noticeable in the moonlight. He drew his bow from his back. His quiver produced the arrow sorely needed. Sights clear and targets- unaware. A perfect moment for him to be carrying out what he aimed for, except one factor remained.
“Two less pieces of scum in his gods forsaken pit they call a village,” he muttered under his breath.
“False.” A voice chimed silently in a cold tone, causing him to pivot violently to face the source of it. “Only one- that being you.”

“And you’re going to stop me?” The archer laughed. “You gave away the advantage of stealth like an idiot!” The arrow he cocked was let loose straight for Grant.

The butler saw the glint of light against bronze as the projectile soared towards him. He attempted to shift his body to the side and while he succeeded in moving it away from his vitals, the very tip of it grazed his shoulder lightly. The time for words had passed faster than he thought, it seemed.
He raced forward to close the gap between the archer and himself, firing in such a close proximity was a hard task. Even worse for him, drawing an arrow would give him an opportunity to strike in turn. That he did and for Grant's response, he hoisted upwards from the side of his waist to across the man's chin to deliver a blunt impact using the pommel of his dagger.

Grant has the higher speed!
The area he had been struck on was already beginning to redden. He stumbled backwards, attempting to get away from the well-dressed man in his handicapped state.
It was futile. The butler took this as an opening to assault once more, this time by slamming the hilt into his chest.

Hunter gets [SPD -1, DEF/RES -2]!
Another precise strike. By targeting the unguarded diaphragm of the hunter, he had made it harder for him to breathe. The wind was quite literally knocked out of him.
In his hazy state of mind the man drew an arrow from his quiver and with shaky hands: pulled back the string. He struggled immensely with the task. In his eyes were fear.Fear of the person before him. How one such young man could outmatch him? He was an experienced hunter, a hunter of men no less!
The thought of losing to Grant infuriated him. It pushed him forward to try his hand at finally putting the butler down with a well placed shot.
1-100(Chance to hit: 85) (MISS!)
A well placed shot indeed.
Nevertheless, with the butler's almost inhuman speed, the arrow had missed. He had stepped inward, weaving past the arrow with a flowing movement as smooth as silk.

He stood firmly before the clearly beaten man. That of which was now scrambling to his feet, possessing bleeding gums and a spasming diaphragm. The hunter got onto his knees. His voice trembled. "P-Please spare me! I-I'll never kill a Kitsune again! I'll pay you!"
"Oh I shall spare you, no doubt," was Grant's reply to which the man seemed to calm down slightly. "Albeit, you should know. . ." He balanced the dagger by it's pommel on the tip of his index finger.
"The price you pay will be decided by the people of this continent." He said. The hunter's eyes widened with panic once again.
"The families of which you have robbed their member's lives from."
Justly, Grant would flip dagger he balanced up into the air before letting it fall back down to grab it by it's hilt and strike the man with it's blunt end.

The hunter is defeated!
The archer was now unconscious. Grant's work was almost done.
He sighed as he sealed his wounds. Peeking out of the alleyway, he could see that the two Kitsune were relaxing on a bench. They were unaware of the entire event that took place.
The couple appeared to be quite happy- content even. Their night was safe, joyful and young. He could not remember the last time he felt the same despite probably being younger than them. In all likeliness he had not ever felt it. At most, he smiled because the situation called for such social appropriateness, rather than having the actual emotion felt by him. For perhaps the slightest moment, Grant felt envious of them.
If anything he could at least comfort himself that he was a silent guardian on that night. He tied the archer up and headed off to turn him in.
