Valentine glanced around curiously, as she walked along the road, her head darted back and forth rapidly, half of her expression looked rather excitable, the other half... Put frankly, did not share the same optimism.
"Look brother! A flower!" The girl exclaimed, as she glanced off of the road, and dashed over there, before leaning down and poking the flower.
"Sister... That's a weed."
"Huh? No it's not, see its a flower!" She yanked it out of the grand to try and prove it.
"Blow on it?"
"Huh...?"
She blew on the flower, and watched the white of it spread out into the wind, her expression seemed a little less enthusiastic.
"You made us kill the flower!"
"It wasn't a flower, sister."
She huffed, before folding her arms, and grabbing another one of those weeds, while sitting right off of the road. The girl continued to argue with herself, pretty loudly, to be entirely honest.
Her pack was heavy. The road was uncertain. Crusted wagon tracks, solidified by yesterday's rain, streaked it. Her mood was crumbling. The grand notion of adventure to the staged city, started looking like a stupid fantasy. Yet here she was, living the dream. The dream of an aching back and tired legs. Her attitude was rescued by the flying particles of someone's wish. And that someone was up ahead. A child? Alone?
Fae glanced around, seeing that the only people here was her and the girl. Her voice was echoed against nothing and she seemed to be playing pretend. Strange? Maybe she lived nearby. Lifting the tone of her voice, Fae said "Hey there little girl!"

As a voice seemed to ring out, Valentine looked in curiosity, as she stopped mid sentence from talking to her 'brother'. "Do we know that person, brother?"
"She probably would've called... That name, if we knew her." Was muttered from the same mouth in response.
She began to walk towards the figure, as the same deeper voice as before, rang out, "Hey, we're not going over there!" Was stated quite aggressively, but the child kept walking on over, before halting to a stop.
"Hello miss! Did you need something?" The child seemed to act sweetly, she seemed nice-ish... However half her face seemed a bit annoyed, as a whispered voice escaped the child. "Sister... We need to leave... Now."
Fae's mouth stood open as she drew closer. The child was talking to herself, shifting voices and answering her own inquiries. How was the dancer supposed to even reply to her. Was it a her? What if the child freaked out at being called a her? Fae drew a deep breath and closed her eyes. She told herself anything could happen on the road, but boy was anything strange sometimes.
"No.. I didn't need anything.. I'm just checking on you... Um are your parents nearby?"

The child looked straight at her. Her visible eyebrow furrowed. "We don't have parents, so please leave us alone..." The more masculine voice muttered, before closing an eye.
"Brother doesn't mean... Well he means part of it-Wait! Actually he meant all of that!" The child suddenly exclaimed, "He was just being a meanie!" The child folded their arms and pouted, before the eye that had closed, reopened.
"Why exactly are you here?"
"We don't own the road brother, don't be so rude, but so what are you doing here miss?"
Fae stared, dumbstruck. How was she supposed to respond to that? This girls shifting tones danced between warm and cold. What kind of response could she give? Fae thought about just walking off. Let someone else deal with it. This might be something she didn't need or want to be a part of. However, this was a child. A confused child.
"Look, I'm just passing by. You don't seem okay. Are you fine? Or maybe I should take you to the nearest town? You have a name child? Mine is Fae." She offered a smile.

The child seemed completely oblivious, at least half of them did. The other half seemed notably reluctant, and a bit irritable. "Oh yeah, of course, of course! Brother and I are totally fine!" The child chirped energetically, giving a spin as she spoke.
"Oh by the way, my name is Valentine~! It's a really pretty name huh? You have a pretty name too, miss!" She seemed to speak rather quickly, full of energy as well.
"... It's useless to tell you to stop using that name, isn't it, sister?"
"Mhm! But er anyway, oh brother can we go to the nearest town with her?"
"Of course not." Her left eye gave an eyeroll, as she gave a pout in response.
"Well where does your brother want to go?" Fae asked. "Um, maybe I could take you there?"
It still wasn't too late to walk away. The child didn't even seem to want her help. In fact,Valentine was messing around and talking to herself. Maybe it was some sort of game, in fact it more than likely was that. Just a child with an overactive imagination. She could deal with that. Maybe this kid was scared and pretending to be fine.
"How about we get to the town and I buy you candy or something?"

"Candy?!" The girl exclaimed ever so loudly, her eye brightening. "Wah, I want candy, brother, brother, let's go get candy!" The girl seemed super excited, as she began to bounce in place.
"Wh-What?! No... Sister, you can't just accept candy from a stranger!" He seemed very bothered by the notion, as he retorted. "You better not give her candy..."
"Awww! Come on brother...! She's being really nice!" She halted on the ground, before huffing and folding her arms. "We're getting candy whether you wanna or not!"
"Fine, whatever... Don't cry to me, when I'm right."
A dumb look overtook her face and Fae laughed at herself. "Okay, I admit that sounds bad." She chuckled. "Candy.. From.. A stranger. Oh man that's one for the books. Though, you don't have to worry. The candy won't specifically come from me. You two can be there when I buy it. I can promise that it won't be tempered with. So what do you say? It wont be bad."
Fae twirled about, stepping lightly as she pranced. "Do you know how to dance?"

"See? I told you sister. Even she agrees it sounds bad, but very well, whatever." Brother seemed to mutter, before giving an eye roll. "It probably will be fine in that case..."
"Wait but the people we buy it from are strangers too..." Sister mumbled curiously, before darting her attention to the next point their companion made. "Dance? Oh! I can dance!"
The child started bouncing, and jumping from foot to foot, while waving their arms around... They clearly weren't that good at dancing. The expression that sister had, seemed pretty cheery to be entirely honest, and as she jumped to a stop, she folded her arms behind her back.
Fae twirled to a halt, flourishing her arms and twirling the key to her side. "You are a lovely dancer." She said. It was always best to encourage children. "Where did you learn such wonderful moves?"
The touchy ground cracked beneath her steps and occasionally the ground was deceptively muddy. Her worn shoes took on splotches of mud and her white socks were turning darker. The road had been unkind and even the woman's hair was left in splinter. Still, she had a child to watch over.
Fae straightened out her gait and brushed her hair back. She took to more solid grounds and walked with more caution. "So tell me." She said. "Why were you out here just kinda wandering?"

"Hehe~! I know right, wait where would we learn... Huh... I just knew it since I was born!" The girl chuckled in response to the lady's question, having stopped her silly childish dance.
"Um, sister... When you were born, you couldn't walk, so you couldn't exactly... Dance." Brother said, with a sigh, Valentine really didn't always say the smartest things.
As the child followed along, they seemed a bit quicker and more energetic than Fae, practically skipping along. They were clearly a bit dirty, and it was honestly hard to tell if they even bathed lately.
"Oh ummm... Wait brother, why were we wandering?" Valentine mumbled out, in thought, before her tone intensified into a whine, "I just remember you were being mean to my flowers, you butt!"
"Why would I know? You seriously just go wherever you please, without a care..." He groaned, a bit annoyed. "Honestly, I'm probably the only reason you aren't dead..."
