"Indeed, Valentine!" West cheered, "It is a pleasure to accommodate you both for the evening. I hope you have a most excellent rest for the adventure tomorrow!" With that, he gave them a servant-like bow, excused himself from their presence, and closed the door behind him.
Now outside, West stared down the door on the other side, while the eyes of another woman stared back.
"... Hmph," West placed his hands on his hips, "... Go back to sleep, Fierre."
Northella had let the blond haired girl go along with brother so that they could do as they pleased, within reason, the result was West allowing them to stay at their abode util tomorrow. He seemed to cheerfully bow as he headed out of their room and stepped outside. Northella looked towards the door he exited through then opened it herself and followed him out. She wasn't necessarily happy with the situation because as his body guard he was letting in quite a few strangers recently ranging from elves looking to maps to these people asking about dragon stones and shelter.
She'd step out into the open environment outside their traveling shop and witness him place his hands on his hips quipping at another person they usually dealt with it was hard to say who for it was dark and hard to hear him as she walked up behind him as best she could with her heavy footsteps. She prayed he wouldn't throw her about just because she was attempting to speak to him. To make sure he didn't she kept her arms as close to her burly body as possible.
"Sir," she uttered trying to get his attention and not scare him, "I'm not really sure about those two. They passed the spoken password test we have, however, to talk of our more illicit goods doesn't feel right to me on our first meeting."
West turned at Northella's voice and slipped his hands behind his back, "... Well, if you remember, we didn't even present the catchphrase to them. They passed by you the moment you opened the door." The elf shook his head and sighed, "Ah, no matter... goodness me. I'm growing softer by the years, aren't I?" He shrugged his shoulders and flashed a long smile. "This should be fine, though! I like her enough, so I might give her her own little phrase later on. Make it something she'd never forget, yet... cryptic enough so that it wouldn't make much sense to other people..."
A loud, long sigh escaped his lips, "Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh... right... I could really care little with the goods... that's Wealth's problem. After all, you know what we're after, my dear little, Northella..." He tapped her forehead with a cheeky grin on his face, "C'mon, you know what it iiiiis! Let me hear you say it!" @writer
"You're really okay with doing that West after you've even said you have gotten soft?" Northella stated now scratching her head. She didn't want just anyone stepping into the caravan store with their own personal password.
She listened to her boss sigh and noticed via his words he really wasn't worried about goods or money. Placing her hands on the sides of her flaud then suddenly felt one of his fingers fly up against her face and flick her. She grit her teeth and growled, "If we're not after goods for Wealth then what are we after? Hm... Is it knowledge?"
She wasn't sure this was the right answer. But if she was wrong she was going to be a bit more peeved then she already was. Little girl or not here she never liked it when West really acted up, like these specific times, unless there was good reason. This time around she didn't see a reason to keeping a little girl around who in her opinion was smart but didn't have the kind of info either of them likely needed to the extent they needed it.
"Ding-ding-ding!" West cheered with a small and frivolous applause, "I'm glad I hired a smart mercenary like you! Quite the cut above the regular meatheads! Hoo-hoo!" He passed her to plop himself back down on his seat behind the counter, "Hmmm! Now... let's see... oh, yes, I have to write a notice for that silly Fierre..." He pulled a piece of parchment from his side and took a feather pen from an inkwell.
As the elf wrote, he spoke up suddenly, "... Oh, yes... my softness is born of empathy, @writer. I was a lost child once, thus whenever I see children of similar circumstance, I can't help myself. Every glacier melts under the right conditions, so it is with the hardest of men."
Northella giggled then answered him as he sat down to write some notes, "I read books you know. I planned to be a Malig Knight for the Nohrian army but since they kicked me out of Nohr I might as well look into something different. I love lances so... I'm surer then most there's something as a merc. for me."
She bent over his desk as he wrote, placing her hands on the edge of the wooden frame then stated, "I'm going to bed West. I'm done patrolling for the night and since that girl's asleep we should get some sleep too."
Northella's back returned to an upright position. She gave the elf one last glance then walked off for the night to change into her night clothes, slip into bed and get some sleep in her quarters near the far side of the caravan. She could feel a yawn rising in her throat but forcibly kept it down by keeping her mouth closed. She wasn't going to show signs of sleep before her employer after all since they'd just finished up business. She had heard him speak about glaciers and melting hearts but for now refused to answer him for in her tired state words would not come out right.
