Oliver leaned against the table, left elbow up on the wooden surface, his hand up against his face. He adopted his serious listening pose: index finger up near the end of his eye, thumb pressed up against the underside of his chin and middle finger over his upper lip, just under his nostrils. Such a violent outlook on life.
Two things came to Oliver's mind: Who hurt you? Though what came out was, "How do you do that odd sound effect when you mean to swear?" He referenced the noise that seemed to chime out whenever Rui wanted to swear and was phonetically replaced with garbled static.
"I can't say that you are my type, but I would be happy to pay for a drink as thanks for your time. I'm passing through for now, looking to see if I can run into someone worth writing about as I have said already. But I am looking for people to travel with so I could continue to write about them.

"..." Rui's eyebrows furrowed at that little mention... "So wait, you're saying $%$^ doesn't sound like $%^%? Sounds fine to me..." He seemed rather confused, as his forevz twelve author laughed at the joke. Rui sighed, completely disregarding this, after all, his companion was weird.
As the man continued, Rui responded immediately to the first part. "$%$hole is seldom anyone's type." He smirked, he had no issues with that. "But eh, regardless, I don't drink for personal reasons." He didn't phrase any sort of thank you for the other's asking.
But as he tried to respond to hearing the man talking about looking for people to travel with... His immediate interpretation was of course he mainly wanted decent people. A scoundrel like Rui, who kills whoever he pleases... Haha that'd be unfortunate. All in all though, if he actually assumed the man was referring to him joining as well, he was contemplating saying yes.
"No, I hear some sort of bleeping nose whenever you are attempting to swear." Oliver spoke with his palm upwards, bent at the wrist as he looked at Rui. "If I could describe it, it would sound as if someone were trying to use a bunch of written symbols for speech at once."
Moving on, Oliver picked up his tankard, bringing it to his mouth and tipping it back, drinking out of the tankard. "Sometimes, you need someone who is willing to say what needs to be said. Though I fill that role quite nicely, people don't seem to understand me some of the time. Go figure." Putting the tankard back down, Oliver brought his fingers together, palms apart, making a little canopy with his hands and over his brow to think a moment.
"If you'd like to travel together, I am sure that my mannerisms will irritate all kinds of highwaymen as well as my joy for indiscriminately hunting monsters. The offer's always there." Oliver said and thought to add an anecdote, "Splitting ways sometimes and meeting up. Two groups moving from place to place for their own goals and a common interest. But oh what tragedy it would be were they to be pitted against one another. Could they overcome their lords and work together? At the risk of treason?" Oliver was waxing poetic like an author again, strap in folks.

Rui shrugged a bit, as the man spoke on the cursing thing. He didn't really get it, after all, he was in control of his mouth, not somebody who couldn't handle typing a swear word. No way, not one bit.
"Eh, maybe sometime." Rui stated bluntly, before letting out a chuckle, as he leaned back in his seat. "Really a good idea, to ask a nameless thug to travel with you?" He gave a small smirk, as he couldn't help but roll his eyes at the stupid poetic stuff. He didn't get the point of it.
"But regardless, can't go traveling all the time, maybe a bit though..." He slipped out the necklace he stole earlier, showing a tiny little bit of it, "It'll be my neck, if I can't get some of this kind of stuff in my spare time. Stole it from some chick, probably worth a decent amount."
Oliver gave a deadpan look at the necklace as Rui pulled it out. The elf openly admitted to having stolen it but to Oliver it was at least from the standpoint, honesty was nice? Looking around the area at some of the folks looking over their shoulders at him, Oliver could only wave with his eyes closed and a smile on his face, seemingly a naive fool for what was going on around him.
"Well I'm sure she must not have cared much about it to not hold it closer to her heart. Or you are just a brutish rogue Nameless Ninja." Oliver spoke a bit loud, getting the attention of a thug or two from the other end of the tavern that were interested in the glinting coloration of the necklace.
Oliver opened his eyes with a devious look in them, hands folded like a canopy over his lips, "I wonder--Are elves unassumingly strong compared to their sizes?" He made a motion with his shoulders, hinting at the two men that were coming over to try and converse with the lithe frames belonging to Oliver and Rui.

Rui snickered ever so slightly. Of course he was a brutish rogue, if this fellow expected anything else, he was kidding himself. Rui pocketed his treasure, as he glanced at the people. "Did you guys want me to beat the #$%$ out of you, or something?" Rui stated ever so plainly. He wasn't that positive he'd be able to take these people down... But he was going to try his best, that was for damn sure.
He stood to his feet, his hands at either side of himself. He didn't answer such a question, as he glanced over to Oliver. He didn't know if this guy was also going to fight, but he did know that either way, he couldn't accept defeat, against these opponents, in front of this guy.
Turning about on his seat as Rui stood up and approached the two brutes, Oliver sat with his left elbow on the table, right arm folded across his lap. On his face his left hand rested, index finger pointed up near the corner of his eye, thumb pressed up and curled under his chin, and his middle finger curled underneath his lower lip. A sneer on his face with a sly look in his eyes, almost as if his amber eyes looked more auburn. "Careful Ninja, you don't want to make the first blow. It wouldn't be justified."
He had a feeling that Rui was more than eager to slaughter these men in cold blood purely for threatening the ownership of the necklace. But Oliver tried to hint that slaying for defending yourself was justified. But slaying in public might not be the best thing to do.
Thankfully, Oliver's glare provoked one of them, who would swing for Oliver with a wide berth. Ollie hoisted himself up into a hand stand on the table, pulling himself up over with his arms folded up on the table, bringing his heels up to strike the first thug under the chin and send him staggering back a moment before Oliver rolled forwar,d grabbed his cane off the side of the table and hook the pointed end into the thug's shirt, using the momentum he had built up and the stringy muscles hidden under his flesh to hoist up and throw the guy over the table and skidding across the floor a foot and a half.
While Rui would likely deal with the other one, Oliver stood up on the table and looked at the servers of the tavern, "Wot? They were trying to take my friend's necklace?" He stated plainly. As a result of all this, he might have shown the ninja that he wasn't as predictable and an idiot as first thought.

Rui honestly didn't give a crap about justification, but as one of the people attacked Oliver, he glanced over. A decent attack, he had to admit. Though that little reference to being friends... Eh. Glancing towards the remaining opponent, Rui adopted a casual pose, he wanted to beat this guy to death, a smirk grew upon his face, as he slipped out two daggers.
The opponent, a spear fighter, charged at Rui, weapon in hand.
HRbxCEkI1-100 (Must be under 87)
As the opponent charged, Rui barely didn't dodge in time, he grunted in annoyance. Either way, this would win in his victory. From within the air, he jumped down, his sting shuriken in hand.
(Rui's hp -4) (New stats: hp = 12)
1-100 (Must be under 92)
His first attack missed, but he had already planned out his second attack, he went through using the iron shuriken held within his other hand. This wasn't the best spot for him to be in, when he wanted to prove that he could beat the crap out of an opponent.
1-100 (Must be under 87)
His next hit sent caused pain to jolt through his opponent, and a sudden weakness to make itself known.
(Enemy's hp -2 def/res -2) (New stats: hp = 15, def = 5, res = 0)
Rui jumped himself back as he glared at his opponent casually, he needed to win this battle.
Oliver watched as Rui fought, sitting down on the table with his legs crossed, his cane splayed across his lap. Now normally Oliver would be more than happy to jump in and help out with the fight. But knowing this ninja, whose name he had still yet to be given, was a proud one it seemed.
Unless he was needed absolutely, Oliver would remain outside of the battle. After his little cinematic battle, as if it were scripted by the cosmos, Oliver was only needed to take his cane and bonk the other thug on the head whenever he tried to pull himself up. There would be the sound of would -thunk- making that noise on the head of a person every so often as a result.
"Let me know if you want some help Ninja, it'd just mean you agreed to us working together." Smiling with his eyes looking on, the message behind them one as if he had planned this entire thing.

1-100 (Must be under 87)
Rui quickly went forth, smashing his iron shuriken against the opponent, twice. As he jumped back, a grin made its way onto his face... It couldn't be too hard to beat this opponent.
(Opponent's hp - 8) (New stats: hp = 7)
1-100 (Must be under 85)
Responding in rage, the enemy charged forth, and attempted his stabs at Rui.
(Rui's hp - 8) (New stats: hp = 4)

Rui dashed back, and with a with a slash, and then a slam, he jabbed his shuriken deep within his opponents chest. He kicked the man off to the side, with a thud, before leaning against a chair, ever so casually. That battle was way closer than his composure let on.
"That was pretty fun... I guess.." He muttered, with an eye roll, the only satisfying part was as he saw the life drain out of his opponent. People There wasn't enough despair within his opponent.
Nohrian solider class wants to battle with Oliver! Oliver sighed and rolled off the table as the guy refused to stay on the ground. Kicking his cane up into the air by bringing his foot down on the portion that hung off, Oliver grabbed his weapon out of the air as his opponent readied their spear.

"Alright then, let's have some fun eh?" Oliver asked the guy with his eyes seeming to have that menacing red glow in their gaze, looking at the man. Oliver was the first to move and strike! CPkIAWxu1-100 {Needs 90 or lower} [Attack strikes, dealing 9 damage to enemy, enemy hp remaining: 8]
Oliver spun around on his feet, twirling his cane overhead before bringing it around overhead, making his opponent try to lift their weapon up to block Oliver. The cane wielding spear fighter promptly pulled back and gut punched the enemy fighter.
The man cursed Oliver and made an attempt for the bard! 1-100 {Most roll an 87 or lower} [Attack strikes, Oliver remaining hp is 10]
The man rushed Oliver, bringing the underside of his spear upwards and striking Oliver up across the chin. It sent Oliver reeling and spinning about on his feet, turning around and bringing his cane around, the look in his eyes still just as menacing and the smile on his face overjoyed. 1-100 {Need 90 or lower} [The attack strikes, enemy has lost 9 hp. Hp remaining: 0]
Oliver's cane hooked the back of the man's foot, and was promptly yanked out, resulting in the man toppling backwards and knocking the back of his head against the table, promptly KO'ing the foe. Turning back toward Rui, Oliver put his cane over his shoulder, "Well, that was fun."

Rui let out a laugh, as his hand tightened around the rim of his chair. "Not too shabby, kid." Was his ever so casual response, he still wanted to kill Oliver someday though. At least... Provided he could beat some begging out of the guy. Taking a moment before popping out of his seat, he walked over to his own victim, and started to search through his clothing for any valuables.
Pulling free a small sack of gold, the thief pocketed it, before going towards Oliver's victim and doing pretty much the exact same thing.
"These guys are pretty poor, don't ya think?" He stated casually, as he swung back into his seat.
Scratching the side of his cheek while watching Rui go to work pillaging the men of their pocketed coffers, he couldn't help but feel a bit like a bystander. If this were some sort of animation, he'd be a chibi version of himself with a large sweat drop flowing down the back of his head.
When Rui took his seat again, Oliver slumped forward, arms hanging down before lifting his gaze up to the elf, approaching the table and sitting down.
"Back to our previous topic--there is another reason I am looking for people to travel with. I wanna find New Haven." He spoke with a hushed tone to Rui, his gaze being shadows as he lowered his head but glanced up at the ninja. "See, I'm from Old Haven and I got separated from the lot when Old Haven got toppled over by thieves and monsters. So finding my home's new location would be greatly appreciated.

"Huh, gotcha." Rui stated, as he leaned back into his seat. Rui wasn't really the best at sympathizing with people, so to him this issue seemed pretty much meaningless. "So basically you're all upset like a little baby, because you don't have a home anymore." He responded ever so bluntly.
Rui lifted a hand of his, and started to examine it, his other hand clawing at it, just hard enough to draw a bit of blood. Glancing back at his companion, he sighed, "If you want me to tell you how to get there, let's just say, I don't give a crap about exploring, so I wouldn't have a clue."
"Are all elves this dense?" Oliver couldn't help but ask out loud, his eyes closed and his mouth tilted in a frustrated manner. His elbow was on the table and his fingers were curled into his palm save for the index finger driving into his temple. His other hand had its palm upward at the ceiling, just sighing.
"You've never heard of the nomadic merchants of Haven? No, I'm not looking for someone to tell me how to get there. I am looking for someone to travel with, make some money along the way, get a reward if we find New Haven. I'm looking to return this book my grandfather wrote to the library there." He took out the leather casing and opened it up, revealing the one-of-a-kind book inside.
"I thought someone like yourself would be elated at the prospect of a pay day. Oh well." Oliver sat up from his seat, collecting his cane and started to make his way out toward the door, leaving Rui behind.
