Location: A tavern near the foot of Kitsuki.
Time: Night
Weather: Raining
Between: Ethan and @tsukime
The long road to Kitsuki had been composed of winding trails, ruined with mud. The sudden and heavy storm created makeshift rivers through various hills. And though his lantern had been extinguished, Ethan was able to enjoy the walk. The more time he spent in Hoshido, the more he grew used to rain. It wouldn't replace snow and the low chill falling water gave brought memories of his distant home. That's what made traveling hardest.
Despite the rain, Kitsuki's streets were full. Men still peddled goods, women still shared gossiped, and children played their imaginative games. It was heartwarming and in a way, exactly what Ethan needed to see. He passed the strangers without word or second thought. The rain's constant scratching dimmed into a soft patter when Ethan walked into a tired looking tavern.
The warming scent of burning wood made Ethan realize how tired he really was. Trudging passed several people playing cards, he approached the counter.
"Evening." He said in his most friendly voice.
"What can I get for you?" The keep asked. He was a rougher fellow. Slightly overweight, with a thick beard.
"I'll be straight with you." Ethan said "I need a room and I don't have any gold left. It's been a long trip. Well, it's been a long couple of months."
"Well buddy, you can wash some dishes. I like travelers. Tell you what, wash for two hours and I'll give you a room for the night."
Ethan set his pack down "I don't want to deny your offer, but I was hoping I can tell a story."
"You any good?"
"Been told I was."
The keep thought for a moment before nodding "Alright guy. You get everyone's attention and entertain them, I'll give you a room. BUT, no quick tale. I want a real story from you."
"You'll get one." Ethan assured, stepping away.
The wanderer stepped to a stage built into the tavern's corner. He cleared his throat, calling attention to himself.
"Many miles from here, in a corner of the world best left forgotten, stands a peaceful village bound by aeons of frost. The people there were immune to the bitter winds and chilling waters that surrounded them. Now, this land was self-sufficient. They caught their own fish, made their own clothes, and trained their own people. They had wondrous hymns heard nowhere else and songs telling of things no one but them would remember. I came from this wonderful place and am here to tell you of a peace that we once knew."
