Clothing: Xylis has a rather eccentric style of clothing. He chooses to wear what one could alike to a formal dress suit, laced with a ruffle under shirt. Along the upper portion of the shirt is laced with a golden chains that connect to a large flowing dark robe. But what attracts the most attention to the daunting man besides for his sheer height, happens to be the rather grotesque looking elk skull that he sports around as a mask. Attached to the back of it, is a red cloth in which he can adjust to cover up the bones in case he wishes to talk to another without frightening them.
About
Profession: EscortXylis was born within Nestra, a small northern territory within the tips of the Nohrian boundaries. Nestra is almost unlivable for most of the people from Nohr, those that dwell there happen to be only those from the ice tribe, and those that belonged to the wolfskin race. Being a young pup born into a brutal wilderness, race nearly extinct from being hunted by those interested in their fur, he had grown up sheltered from the perpetrators, the wolfskin tribes believing that all the humans being consumed with a black heart, and a corrupted soul, not caring whether the race went extinct.
Alliance: Nohrian
Hometown: Nestra
Likes: Xylis has a small soft spot for soft things.
He loves to read books.
Nadeshiko.
Calm and collected allies. (But for some reason is attracted to hot headed partners.)
Loves to tell horror story to new recruits, so that they show a bit of fear on the battlefield. (Keeps them alive longer.)
Dislikes:Sweet foods, he always gets a stomach ache.
Irrational people, they make the worst deals.
Nobles, end of the story.
Churches, they're always a pain in his ass chasing him away.
Seeing villages destroyed in the time of war. It's uncalled for.
Personality:Xylis personality is a fickle one. Whenever he speaks to the fellow soldiers under his guidance, or is speaking to fellow officers, he seems to be distant and cold. But when talking to someone he cares about, or is coddling he seems like the father type... Or at least someone of interest. Xylis is known to be calm and stoic during all of his engagements, never once raising his voice, almost as if he has a superiority complex compared to others, but this isn't the case. It's more of a hassle and a waste of his energy to get loud with an individual. The time he lost arguing, is the time he could of spent trying to solve another problem.
Xylis has a soft spot for things that are soft, if someone or something has an object that is nice and plush, he will attempt to persuade them to give it over, or will often exchange his services for the said object. It's a bad habit, as he is known to fall for things like that fairly easily. So lord have mercy if he ever ran into a kitsune, or a taguel who are known to have very soft fur.
Another favorite past time of Xylis is to tell stories to those under his command, or within the same station as him. Because he believes that people instilled with fear, have a higher chance of surviving the upcoming battles. They won't try to be hero's, but instead look for a way to make sure that they can survive. The better a missions survival rate the better, it can always be turned into an honorable war story later one, as the tales often woven by the poets had been mocked or changed in one way or another... Just like everything else.
Biography:
However, there was something off about Xylis, when he was born he had been physically weak, unable to even walk normally by himself. His body had a disease within it, a disease that made him grow at a rate in which his bones had been unable to keep up with. Thus it began to label him as an outcast even within his own tribe, he was a freak of nature, something to be tossed away. Wolfskin needed strong offspring's in order to keep their population from dwindling so to waste the limit resources that they had on a child that was labeled as slow.
Was not going to be a possibility, that's when they left the boy off at a church... The people confused as to why a rather large child was left upon their door steps, however with the defining details of his ears and tail, along with the claws it was easy to depict just what the young man was... The church hesitant at first to take in the growing pup, decided that it wouldn't be too harmful. Thus this was how Xylis came to gain his name, a human name granted by the ladies of the church.
By the time he was a young child, roughly around the age of four or so, he was already as tall as some of the thirteen year olds, and perhaps a bit bigger than them. This had begun to cause a small concern for the nuns, as they wondered if they had invited a monster into their home. However, over the years his body began to adjust, his muscles redefining themselves, relaying their structure over his bones... That's when the growth truly began to take place. By the time he was a young teen, he looked as big as a full grown man.
This got him in trouble sometimes around town, as the officials wouldn't believe him when he stated he was a child at the church, and would often need to be bailed out of the situations by the heads of the church. There was another things that the church had become a bit afraid of, the child started showing signs of being able to command the shadows around him, shaping and playing with them at the whim of his boredom. Shaping them, making small little figurines, taking precautions, and the weird display of the child having a surprising affinity towards magic, they sent him off to a mage's academy.
The years within the mage academy flew by, it was ridiculous, he had meet more people here that seemed just like him, than he had ever within his entire life... Or well, so he thought if he didn't grow head and shoulders taller than them, during his time within the academy, he had learned a few things. Like his affinity towards dark magic, it seemed that few mages now a days had the ability to wield the darkened tomes, considered to be far too powerful for the average users.
Little did Xylis know that he was being trained to work for the Nohrian army, it was around the time he hit eighteen or so, that he had been forcefully enlisted to join the army... Not that he minded, though fighting with humans, against other humanoid looking races, it felt weird for him. Often times he would be tasked with taking a few of them as prisoners, which would later be used as ransom... Perhaps this is where he started to learn of the necessities of living within Nohr, he wasn't the only one suffering, the entire population was, while the hoshidian side, had about almost everything easy... A small spark of jealous had started in the man.
By the time he had hit twenty he had been within the militant life for a while now... That's when one of his stations made him bump into a strange woman... Nadeshiko, the woman being roughly around the same age as him, during one of his routine patrols, he had caught a glimpse of her silver like hair, and her soft features. Needless to say she had taken his breathe away when he had spotted her, though boy was he in trouble.
Apparently, she was currently on an adventure, running away from some people that had been looking for her recently. At least that was the story he had been told at the time, Xylis offering to help the silver maiden escape from her hunters, had begun to lead her through the forest... Well, it didn't take long till the two of them got caught by some people dressed in church like attires. It was later revealed that Nadeshiko was actually just playing a game with them, while leading Xylis on, embarrassed by the interaction he had fired off some pretty harsh words at the church.
Which had lead to Nadeshiko firing off in retaliation guarding the others that had been playing the game with her. That was their first encounter, soon it became a regular thing for him to be annoyed with the shrine, and Nadeshiko at times as they continued to cause problems for the young dark mage. A bit annoying to say the least, but for some reason he found himself slowly adapting and enjoying the small joyous moments he had with Nadeshiko, she was kind and gentle when dealing with others, but often a spitfire when it came to dealing with Xylis.
No one could stop it, the small ball of snow, had soon turned into a rolling passionate boulder. The two often sneaking out and seeing one another. Enjoying each others company, the shrine not enjoying the idea of Nadeshiko being with a militant man, let alone one that happened to be a wolfskin, known to be violent beast in these times. But the two had already fallen in love, and perhaps had taken things a bit too far, for a couple that wasn't even married yet. No one really knew how far the two of them had went in their private meetings.
However, after a year and a half of being together, Xylis position was switched, he had been moved away by the Nohrian army, saddened by the thought of losing the one he loved, he made a promise to Nadeshiko that once this war was over, he would be back to make a true woman out of her, to hold up his end of the promise and make her a honest bride... However, little did he know he wouldn't get that chance within the future, nor did he know the pain he would feel later on.
The time between his separation from Nadeshiko, and his remaining time within the army became a blur, fifteen or so years passed with no problem... But on his mind the entire was just the thought of returning to Nadeshiko, finally making his way back to the shrine that she had been working for, he found that Nadeshiko had passed away years ago... Leaving behind a child that belonged to a man they couldn't really remember. Xylis standing at a staggering height by now, and being much larger than he had been when he had first encountered Nadeshiko, didn't even register on their radar... Just that he was big and frightening with the elk mask he had chosen to worn.
Seeing as that the child was the last thing left of his precious Nadeshiko, Xylis had inquired about the child's whereabouts, given only peaces of information, he had learned the child's name was Koume, and that she was living somewhere within the forest with other volunteers, though she was almost fully grown now, so she'd be difficult to find as Koume was known to be free willed. Taking in the information, the grown wolfskin, had one goal right about now.
That was to find the daughter of Nadeshiko... And if the timing was matching up, it meant that it was his daughter as well... He couldn't keep his promise to Nadeshiko, about making her into an honest woman... However, in his mind, there was one thing he could do. He could try to help out the woman's daughter... To help her grow into a fine young woman herself... No it wasn't just Nadeshiko's child... It was his, he owed it to the both of them to help the young pup feel loved, and know what her parents were like.
