Diligence The Black Knight and Esquire Tenebres Forest Trail near Port Dia Morning
The groggy elf woke up with a start, clutching his sore ribs with clenched eyes, then released a long, irritable groan. He had been laid to rest on hard dirt, which worked reverse wonders on his spine. Worse, the blows he had sustained yesterday had turned into some terrible bruises...
Ah!
That’s right, yesterday. He had decided to follow the Black Knight, and he was whisked away out of the city into...
... A forest? The very sight of it caused him to lose his sense of direction.
“Sir Black Knight?” Tenebres called nervously as he pulled himself onto his knees. He glanced to his side and, to his shock and relief, saw the Black Knight sitting on a tree’s roots, keeping watch as it were. “Ah, g-good morning.”Kazmael
For a moment there would be silence before a response is given. "Good morning. Did you rest well?"
Asking the elf this he'd not turn to look at him as he seems to continue keeping watch. Though if Tenebres happens to move closer they would most likely hear that the knight is breathing very lightly as if asleep. But that is impossible since he just responded, right?
Another thing to note would be that there is a sword laying on the ground in it's sheath near the elf. And since the Black knight still has his own blade at his side it can be assumed that it was given to the boy. Luther
There was more he could have said, such as the ongoing ache running down his back muscles, the fact that his fatigue had not completely left him, or simply that he was in a consistent state of dull pain, yet that would not be admitted to his liege.
“If I may ask, where are we now? I cannot see a town for miles with these trees about us...” He glanced down at the ground and spotted a sheathed sword by his side. Of course, upon seeing it he checked to see if the knight had his own weapon before taking the sword to fasten to his belt.Kazmael
"That's good, and right now we are going up the mountains north east of Goldoa. First off I apologize for bringing you all this way with me, but I have something to show you and say whenever we get to our destination milady."
All illusion of him being awake would be shattered as he says two odd things. One would be talking about someplace called Goldoa that most definitely does not exist in Nohr. And the other would be saying milady rather than boy or Tenebres. It seems that this black knight may be decent at sleep talking. If only he got the gender right...
What on earth was he talking about? Where was Goldoa?! Just how far did the Black Knight warp them last night?
Ah, wait...
Tenebres drew close to Black Knight’s helmet and waved his hand before his face.
“... Could it be that...” he whispered to himself, “... maybe... maybe it is that... my apologies, sire. I shall let you rest.” Thus, the lad left the knight to himself. Surely he would need as much rest as he could get.
In the meantime, Tenebres figured he could attempt his regular strength training. The elf walked a little ways before discovering a small clearing not far from where the Black Knight slept. He unsheathed his sword and gripped the hilt firmly in his hands. He crouched down to press his feet firmly into the dirt, then slowly and steadily moved his arms in a swinging motion.
No pain just yet. Good.
He withdrew his right leg toward himself as he stood on one leg, then lifted his weapon gracefully in the air and over his head, then thrust the sword forward.
Agh.
The elf’s arms dropped, causing the tip of the blade to dig into the ground. With his left arm, he reached back and rubbed his sore spine.Kazmael
Several seconds after Tenebres left, the black knight would open his eyes as he wakes up. "Sire..? That wasn't what she said back then. Also I was awake..." Speaking to himself quietly so as not to wake up Tenebr-... Oh, they aren't there anymore... Perhaps? "Ah, that might explain it. Though sire is a strong word since I'm just a knight."
After another few moments he'd finally stand up and would look around to see if he could find out which way the boy went. "Hmm.. Though I don't know much about him, he is probably training since he'd do so often and early in Macarath." Musing to himself he'd walk a ways until he comes to the same clearing where the elf is. Thinking for a few moments the knight would decide to watch over them for a bit to see how he fights in the light.
Eventually, Tenebres pulled his hand away from his backside and wrapped his fingers firmly around the sword handle.
I suppose it is worth keeping in mind that my liege speaks in his dreams, he thought to himself as he rose his sword to waist level, ... Goldoa... milady... could he have been reliving a past memory?
He raised his sword over his head, bringing it down with a slight bounce. He must be burdened by more things than I can conceive... and to think that I wish to place the burden of my presence on him... His eyes closed as a weighty sigh left his chest.
To be absent from the military without official leave... did I do the right thing? I just can’t rationalize this...
The lad breathed in and out more as he steadied his arms, and in a single instant, a whirlwind of movement. With legs swift and sword true, the lad dashed between the trees, striking their throats and dismembering thin limbs. Even with the shallow slices upon their surface, the victims slowly bled sap in response.
With cold eyes, Tenebres continued to wreak havoc upon the faceless soldiers that surrounded him until he had come full circle back into the clearing. As he returned, he twisted his body violently, flinging the blade toward a tree, causing it to lodge itself deeply into the bark.
In that moment, he froze mid-pose, spotting his liege standing a few inches away from the tree that was struck.
“... Ah,” he cleared his throat, “... G... good morning, Sir Black Knight.” He straightened his body in acknowledgement of his presence.Kazmael
Kaz would watch as the elf fights many surrounding trees as if they are his opponents like a whirlwind, or maybe an assassin? Now that's an interesting thought. Filing away the idea for some other time Tenebre's blade impacts and stabs into the tree adjacent to his own person. the black knight wouldn't even seem to flinch or move for now.
After the elf speaks he'd nod his head lightly in greeting and places a gauntlet on the blades handle."At ease, and good morning.. Though I have a feeling you've already gone through greetings today." Pulling Tenebres' blade from the tree he'd look it over in silence for a few moments.
"Perhaps a lighter yet sturdier blade would be good to get in the future? ...Yes. A brave sword or killing edge would compliment you better than bronze, iron, steel or silver." Saying this both to himself and Tenebres he'd walk over before holding the blade out to him hilt first just like in the training grounds at Macarath.
"Since passage of time is a fickle thing when asleep. How long ago did you wake up, and were any names of people mentioned by me? I already know from previous times that I sometimes seem to be awake whenever I'm not ever since a, past event." Even though some people would most likely be more violent or threatening in times like this. The knight would instead seem to be his usual calm and commanding self. Though not being able to see their face clearly does make reading the black knight difficult nonetheless.
Right, he’s not like the soldiers at the barracks.
Even so, he seemed completely aware of what he spoke as he dreamt...
“Ah, yes, sir,” the lad nodded as he received his blade from the knight, “I woke up about fifteen or so minutes ago and greeted you, thinking you were awake. You, ah, did respond to me, though.” He tilted his head inquisitively, “Something about Goldoa and a ‘milady.’” He looked back up to the knight, “It brought questions to me about you, but... I will refrain unless you are comfortable with sharing.”Kazmael
Kaz would listen in silence before finally nodding slightly once Tenebres finishes.
"I see. Then nothing has been said that could possibly endanger me or them." Stating this he'd seem to turn his helmeted gaze to the sky for a couple moments as if thinking. "... Since your with me I don't see any harm in questions being asked. After all, I am still quite unknown to you which could cause problems in the future."
Sighing lightly he'd turn his gaze back to the elf. "As long as what you ask isn't about them, then you can ask questions boy.. However, I will ask questions about you once your finished since learning is a two way path."
“That sounds fair,” nodded Tenebres, “Allow me a second to consider something first, then.”
Striking an inquisitive pose with his thumb to his chin and left arm against his waist, the elf quietly considered his options. It wasn’t as if he couldn’t ask more than one, and perhaps, in turn, he would have to respond to a coordinating question.
That is, he felt that he could freely express himself to his liege, so any questions he would ask would be answered with little scrutiny.
Since he is considerate of… whomever it is he desires to keep secret, perhaps I may ask about his origins.
"Of course." Nodding slightly in response along with those words, the black knight would go back to looking to the sky for a bit.
Though once Tenebres seems finished with his thinking and asks their first question, Kazmael take his blade out of it's sheath and holds it out to show to the other soldier. On doing so it would quickly be seen that his blade, even though it's obviously also made out of bronze, would look completely different then bronze swords made in Nohr or Hoshido. In fact it would be shaped more like a steel sword and would have a Daein crest on it. "As you can probably tell, this is a bronze sword. In fact, if you haven't noticed it yet the one I gave you is made the same way as mine."
Stating this he'd return his blade to it's sheath. "But to answer your question I must ask one as well since it's a word I learned in my time here. What do you know of the outrealms, Tenebres?" Luther

Tenebres glanced the sword up and down in the brief moment it was presented to him.
He’s right. Why haven’t I noticed it before? The feeling is the same, but the make is foreign.
As the blade is withdrawn, the elf stared back at the knight for his question.
The Outrealm. He had indeed heard of it, but such a place was strange ground, enticing only the hardiest of explorers.
“I hear of few who dare enter its ethereal gate, and fewer who come out alive to speak the tales of their findings,” he responded, “Those who return speak of monsters and demons among the promises of wealth. Admittedly, I couldn’t… could not perceive myself to be so brave to enter it…”
Suddenly, the thought struck him, and this time, he could not hide his surprise.
“… Wait, are you saying that you come from inside of the Outrealm?!” he quite nearly exclaimed.Kazmael
At the final exclamation, the knight would raise his right gauntlet-ed hand as if to ask for silence or for Tenebres to calm himself. Though he would also chuckle very lightly. "The answer to that would be yes and no. The gate that your talking about most likely leads to various places and realms rather than just one. And though I didn't come from that larger gate itself, I did arrive via a smaller one."
With this said he'd bring his gauntlet back to his side. "Now to finish answering your first question. I originally came from the kingdom of Daein in a land called Tellius." Letting all that was said sink in for a few moments, he'd then gesture to the elf.
"And where are you from? Your appearance doesn't match the people in Macarath, also while I carried you the other night I could feel the cold radiating off of you through my armor." Luther

So... there are realms other than their own. There was no denying that.
Tenebres could feel his mind frying from the revelation. Really, that was unbelievable. No, it was truly inconceivable. His liege came from one of these foreign lands, one with a kingdom of Daein, in a land by the name of Tellius.
The mental stress manifested itself physically on Tenebres’ face by way of eye twitching and profuse sweating.
Eventually, the knight posed his question. The lad mumbled words from the still-functioning part of his brain, “F... from here, er, more specifically... the... the Ice Tribe.” He raised a shaky hand to run through his pink hair in an attempt to regain collectedness. When that did not work, he inhaled sharply and exhaled, “... The Ice Tribe. It is southwest of Macarath.” He let lowered his sweat-infused hand to stare at it briefly before wiping it on his pant leg.
Question. Right, it was his turn again.
“What, um, why are you here? Did you come by mistake or fate?”Kazmael
