It had been more than a week since she had started her business. Everything was falling into place, even with a few hiccups here and there. However, during this whole time, something was egging her in the back of her mind.
I hadn’t properly thanked Kyverian yet.
However, given that he only shared by word of mouth that he was staying a while longer, she couldn’t recall when he would be leaving.
Such a thought sent her into a small panic. He couldn’t have left yet, could he? It’s been more than a week!
“Janette,” the Madame leaned against the second floor railing, calling to the receptionist on the first floor tavern hall, “I’ll be out, possibly for a while. Please take over the inn for a while, would you?”
“As you wish, Madame!” replied Janette with a bouncing curtsey, “I’ll make sure things stay sane.”
“That’s my girl!” Straightaway the Madame turned and headed to the rooftop. Her dress turned a shade of green, and she leapt across the rooftops with one eye to the street below.

Thankfully, it wasn't time to head out from Marcarth just yet. The captain was busy making his rounds, patrolling the marketplace with his usual gaze that few would dare to meet. At his back was a whole squadron, some new faces, some old. The patrolling squadron numbered at eight, with Kyverian included at the front. The knightly purple plume made it easy to spot him from above. Fortunately for The Madame , she was catching the patrol at the end of their route, as they headed closer towards the barracks, the squadron had entered, except for Kyverian.
The captain pauses, standing aside to let all seven of his soldiers enter, while he made sure to take a headcount of each face that passed him by. Once all of them had entered, the captain decided to tap his armored forehead towards the door guards. "I will be heading out now. Donovan has the report." The guards make their salute, as the captain briskly marches away, back to the marketplace. His movements, however, seemed to be questionable, at best. From stall to stall, he seemed to be examining the items, only to shake his head and move away. Many stalls were inspected over the course of his 'self-imposed' patrol.
Baked goods, candies, meat, and from the looks of it, flowers.
"Ahhh... Trying to impress a special someone, captain?" The flower merchant's eyes turn to Kyverian, a pleasant smile was aimed his way, but the captain only diverted his attention from off the white lilies and up to the merchant. "No." That was all Kyverian said before they make eye contact, staring at one another until the merchant looks away uncomfortably. Once the staring is broken off, the captain marches away, moving off from the market and towards the less traveled paths. Eventually, he makes his way into an alleyway, disappearing around the corner, as if to hide from something.

The Madame discovered the patrol as they had broken off into the barracks. The woman had expected him to follow them in, but to her surprise, the captain had embarked on his own.
Now, where is he off to? she wondered. Naturally, she followed after him with speed, that is, until he had come to the marketplace once again. He was... scanning the stalls until he had stopped at the flower stall, at which point in time the Madame had hunkered down to peer over the side of the roof.
Eventually, he left the stall, shifting his course into the alleys. It seems that this was the perfect time to make her appearance!
The woman diligently followed him, tracing after his movements until he finally stopped to hide. Perfect, and there was no one around!
With a self-assuring nod, the Madame alighted the roof, her dress blowing out quietly as to cause her to glide down in silence. Eventually, she stood next to him with her hands behind her back.

The tensed stare is soon shifted onto The Madame as he stares, un-impressed with her landing. But moreso to do with her following, than her landing. He slowly clamps a hand onto her shoulder, leaning in just slightly, as if he was expecting someone to eavesdrop on them. The meaningful, stoic yet annoyed stare is interrupted by the sound of his voice. "You could have sent someone for me instead of tailing after me. I thought I was being stalked by an assassin."
Thankfully, he didn't make the fool's error of thinking his blade or a dagger could harm her. It'd be a waste of cheap metal if he did. "So, what brings you to me, hmm? I was planning to visit you after my patrol." But, she was here now. There was no sense in shooing the woman away.

The Madame let out a delighted laugh, “Ahaha! Well, I wanted to try surprising you as you got off of work, but I don’t know if I did...” She put a finger to her mouth as she bit her lip, giving her an endearing appearance, “Anyway, Kyverian, I was thinking about a stroll around Marcarth. I haven’t completely explored this city since I’ve come here, so maybe you can take me to places you’ve been?” She wrapped her arm around his and stood next to him in such a way that they appeared to be familiar. “I’ve a lot of gold to spend, but I have no idea where to spend it~.”

A stroll through Marcarth didn't sound so bad, until he felt her arm hooking around his. It felt strange, as if he should break away from her grasp so he didn't feel like he was being taken hostage. His arm moves to de-tangle from her limb, but Kyverian soon decides against it. Having his arm ripped off sounded far more unpleasant than a stroll through Marcarth. "Hmm... I'm very clearly the wrong person to ask about what to spend gold on but... I suppose I can humor you..." His footsteps soon guide the pair, an uncertain captain figuring out where they should head to first.
"I suppose our first destination could be the armor smith. I need to reinforce my platemail to last longer."
The one thing that The Madame could tell was the many battles he had survived were etched as dents and scratches upon the suit. He looked like he could use a new set, or at the very least, bang out the old damages.

“Goodies! Let’s go there, then!” the Madame cheered with a happy shake of her fists. Knowing where a smithy is was valuable knowledge for an entrepreneur of hired swords, and would also give insight to the quality of the equipment that the tavern mercenaries possessed.
That said, as they strolled along a thought popped into the woman’s mind.
“Say, there is something I’ve yet to hear of far as smithing is concerned,” said she, “Do you think mages and smiths would ever come together to make armor that is resistant to magical power? Imagine how useful that would be to help reduce the impact of spells!” Kyverian

The thought of armor that could resist magic sounded like a splendid idea. Far too many times, have good men fallen at the hands of some foul magic that was tossed at them. But on the other side of the spectrum, it would threaten the aristocracy that was Nohr's dark magic. That thought alone had brought the slight twitch of a genuine smile back down into a frown. "That sounds like a dream too good to be true, Madame... The mages of Nohr would not accept it."
At least, crafted En masse and given to the common soldier. "Perhaps, some set of knights have such armor. But, I sincerely doubt it..." But there was still some hope for such an armor. Soon enough, Kyverian finds himself in front of the blacksmith's shop, the faint echo of hammer upon metal caught upon Kyverian's ear. With his untangled hand, he pushes open the door, showcasing to The Madame the many weapons, armors, and tools crafted by a well regarded smith's hands.
"Blacksmith." He calls out, taking a bold stride to the counter with his company, "I require some repairs on my armor. Dents need to be pushed out, holes patched up. The usual, really." A sack of gold is fished out from his satchel, dumping it onto the counter top as he turns back to the madame. "You should be careful about that idea of your's... You might attract that witch's attention..." Kyverian made sure to keep his murmuring between him and the Madame.

In spite of the truth of his statement, the Madame’s cheeks puffed up at his rebuttal. Mages have an aristocracy? Please! A good number of them were rotten apples, anyway. They could use a little competition to set their heads straight!
Naturally, this wasn’t something she’d just say in a Nohrian territory, much as she felt it was right.
“Just a thought,” she replied with a little sway of her head.
Within the smithy, an older man sitting upon a chair before an anvil raised his head, “Indy, git thet ge’l’man, would ya’? Me ‘ands ah full.”
“Coming.”
At that moment, a tall, somewhat-winsome and incredibly burly fellow with raven-black hair appeared before them. Dressed in a sleeveless shirt and baggy slacks, this person’s upper torso boasted great musculature.
“Hi, repairs?” spoke the young smithy, eyes glanced over the armor before looking up to the Kyverian.

The captain takes note of the assistant, having only recently entered the shop in what felt like forever. The old face of the smith, however, was still fondly remembered from the way back when. "Edelberg, a new apprentice? What happened to the old one?" While Kyverian sought to get the dented armor from his body, The smith soon pauses his hammering to pay Kyverian's words some mind.
"S'all quittin' when tha' job too much fer 'im."
The gauntlets, the chestplate, and the torso are soon put on the table, a gray shirt girded his torso, the sleeves covering his arms. But even The Madame could see that even his hands weren't sparred from a scar or two. The gold is gestured towards, the smith knew what to do from there, as did the smith's assistant, Indy.
"The armor just needs the usual repairs. Thankfully, my greaves are fine. This time around." Though Kyerian's upper armor had received the worst of it, his plate legs still had a few dents and scratches. But compared to the helmet, the chestplate, and the gauntlets, it was barely anything to concern himself with. His attention soon turns back to the Madame, however.
"See anything that you like? Perhaps, the metallurgy can fashion an iron cup or two for you."

Indy glanced to the smithy and scowled, "Hmph. Let each person speak for them-self." The young smithy lifted the damaged armor pieces and let out a quiet sigh, "... Sheesh... that's some damage..." Regardless, the gold was received and the pieces of armor were taken to the back to be worked on.
As for the Madame, she had wandered off to the side where there were iron armaments present, leaning over and studying the make and design as she awaited the conclusion of Kyverian's business.
"Oh, me?" she pointed to herself inquisitively, "A cup would be lovely, although I would rather garnish it with roses from my garden. Hmm..." She leaned back and crossed her arms loosely, "Perhaps something designed loosely off of wyvern's, hm? That would add a bit to the tavern decor."

A plain iron cup would have been enough for Kyverian. The austere design of things was what he truly favored most. But the thought of adding a Wyvern to it did sound somewhat appealing. Soon enough, before Kyverian could turn, Edelberg pauses his hammering to glance over towards the counter.
Kyverian doesn't provide any input to the Smith's words, merely shifting his attention back to The Madame before returning it to Edelberg.
"Fine, a wyvern's cup. One of us will return by sunset. I know you'll finish it, but, other places to go." A shiny coin is slid onto the table, his attention shifting back to the Madame. "A wyvern's cup. Peculiar but, I suppose a coin from my purse wouldn't hurt to have it made. Where's the next stop?"

Hoho. At least someone can relate to her aesthetic! There needs to be more things that related to wyverns at her inn, especially if it was called "Wyvern's Rest!"
The Madame hummed as she tapped her lips in contemplation on their next location. "Hmmm! I would like to go a little bit more north of the city, my dear. I'm not quite approving of gambling, but I would like to see what kind of people actually participate in that."
"I wouldn't waste your time, Madame," The voice of the younger smithy came from behind a wall. "There's been a lot more unruly folk of late. A flowery woman like yourself would only get the wrong kinds of attention."
"Hmm, posh, posh, Indy," the woman responded with a dismissive wave of her hand, "I can handle myself. I simply would like to see what's over there, that's all!" She had once again clung to Kyverian's arm. "Captain, be a dear and take me there!"

Indy's concerns were definitely shared. But not for the same reason, however. Kyverian was aware of what The Madame was capable of, but being associated with her if she's forced to resort to exposing herself would greatly damage his own reputation. Not to mention, the very fact that he'd be entering dangerous territory without all of his armor. But knowing the Madame, she was going to go anyway, whether he'd protest or not.
"As much as I agree with Indy... I know that you'll go there anyway. I will keep you safe."
He still had his sword, his wits, strength and skill. Though, fighting without armor did leave him seemingly insecure as a frown emerges on his face. His eyes dart over towards the Madame, his eyes squinted slightly in suspicion. "We'll return... Eventually..." Off they go, out the door and on their way to where criminals were sure to be watching. At least he had his sword.
