What had appeared to be a deadly situation just turned into a comical act for anyone to witness. One moment the two had been close to killing one another, then the next he was put back into the cart as if he was nothing but a sack of potatoes, it was really quite interesting that she had that much power, in such a tiny little body. As he was launched backward, he rolled a little bit coming to an upright position looking like he was about to spring once more, however, he held his pose like a small graceful cat.
It wouldn't be good to rush into a situation without knowing full well what to expect from them, after all, it was as if the gods themselves had decided that the two should part ways, but the fact that she had called him a country bumpkin? Well, it wasn't too far off, he had grown up in a rather tiny village in the middle of Nohr. A small chuckle escaped as he looked down at the poor fool that was pleading for his life at the feet of the woman that had just apologized to him. Perhaps he should just be on his way.
Then again she had gotten a rather close look at his face, his eyes shifting over her ever so slightly. She was still enveloped in the ice like dress, perhaps it was a defensive mechanism for her? Either way, as long as that was active, there was little chance of him actually getting the jump on her again. "Hey... Vincent is what she called ya right? I thought you told me she was a merciless wench, that worked ya to the bone. And that she was an evil being that was hell-bent on destroying your soul."
Deciding to have a little fun with it he looked down at the man, his voice serious without a crack in it, he might as well make the man pay. "I thought, I was getting four hundred gold, to take down a horribly disfigured, foul-smelling, cracked skin, dirt old hag. That by your words stunk worse than a dead mule on the side of the road. And was built like an ogre." Turning his gaze back to the woman he didn't even crack a smile at his own little jokes to get the man in trouble, his face looking as serious as trader.
"I think you fed me some false information, she doesn't smell that bad, and she's not that bad looking either... Though I don't know about her work ethics, though she was apologizing to you for something, now I feel a bit bad, for being tricked into jumping her. Just what was going on in your mind?" He said standing up fully and placing his sword back into the sheath hanging on his hip, just for the extra benefit of it looking believable. "Man... This is why crooked merchants are always the easiest to steal from..." His ice glare freezing on Vincent, with a small look of to try and challenge him.

Hm. What colorful words being used to describe her, perhaps more vibrantly than the ever-paling face of Vincent. The man looked close to fainting as drool began to fall from his lips, and in the face of this deathly figure, he had already relieved himself before them.
“... Well,” the woman sighed as she appeared to readjust the train of her dress, “Words are only words, especially in the mouth of fools. They can say whatever they like, but mean none of what they say.” She folded her arms and glanced to the tall man, “As for yourself, I’d like to know why you’re so emboldened to add fuel to a dead fire?” Her finger reached up to her bangs as she began twisting her hair around it. “I’m sure that even Vincent himself couldn’t think of a more beautiful, elaborate description of a rather insidious-sounding woman! Could you?”
The merchant shakily nodded.
“There! Now, I’d like to know something of you, my pet,” she faced the thief completely, “You mentioned that he was going to pay you?” art

Artimus seemed to watch as the man turned into the ghostly shell of what he had once been. As if he was about to simply die from the utter shock of betrayal that had come from Artimus. However, his little play was cut short by the woman, asking why he was so emboldened to add more fuel to the small dispute. A small shrug of his shoulders with a rather small grin on his face seemed to be masking exactly how he felt. "Well, for that reason ma'am I don't really care for merchants so seeing one suffer is actually rather enjoyable."
His eyes turning back to Vincent as he seemed to be staring a hole in the shattered man that shook his head. "Plus, I don't exactly like being lied too, especially about a target that he intended for me to get rid of. I may be a for-hire thief, assassin, rogue whatever you want to call me for the espionage. But I also still got some shred of honor in this body of mine." He said in a rather ominous tone as he starred down the ever-shrinking rounded man known as Vincent. However, his thoughts were once again interrupted by the woman.
Did she just call him a pet? Turning his attention back to the woman at the present, Artimus shook his head. "I must be hearing wrong, I don't think I was just referred too as a pet right? I do believe I'm still human to a degree, I may be a thief and a thug, but even I still have a human nature about me no?" He said with a bit of a smart mouth as he smiled. Truth be told, it didn't bother him at all, she could probably tell that by the way he spoke.
Hoping down off of the wagon, he stood there looking down at Vincent. "Anyway, it's as you've heard. He offered me four hundred gold to take care of you but seeing as I have been lied too, I do believe that a contract is voided." He walked over towards Vincent who was still white as a ghost, even if he was getting better. "And as a thief's honor, those that lie to their employer and vice versa, most give up something." Everyone knew what that was in this day... A contract between assassins was honored, given by the king's decree. And those that should lie about the contract lost their tongues.

“W-w-wait, please... no...” the weakened merchant stammered, he began to crawl slowly away. His loathsome sobbing was accompanied by great streams of tears.
“That is quite enough.” The woman stomped into the ground, causing a small gust of wind and a minor tremor within the small vicinity, “If there is anyone to punish him, it would be me. I am his employer, after all, and if you were to lay a hand on him, you would be liable to face my wrath.”
The wind cried as she whipped her hand to point at the thief. “Ergo, you, sir! If the local rumors are true, then you must be the thief whose allegiance is made by the higher offer. His contract is not at all void, not even by a lie! Thus, I will offer you the finest of deals!”
She aggressively pointed behind her with her thumb to the inn, “Inside of this inn is a warmth hearth, food, beds, and company. In contest with his measily 400 gold, which, I will admit, will only last you a month in this city. I will offer you a chance to take names and accumulate more gold than you know what to deal with!” Her arms folded once more, “Room and board are on the house for working mercenaries at the Wyvern’s Rest! What say you, sir?”

Artimus was enjoying watching the man grovel and flee because he had known that it was true that a lie had been told about the woman. However, in the end, she had to stop and go interrupting him once more. Which caused the man to stop his pursuit and turn to face her, a strong wind seemed to escape from her stomp, along with the earth underneath them begin to tremble ever so slightly. At first, he seemed to just stare at her with a look of disappointment, was she really going to take away an honored contract between two people?
When she spoke about her wrath, the man just simply stared at her for a moment, he had faced many peoples wrath in the past. He wasn't the strongest, nor had he always been on top in fights so that threat did little to him. With a small scoff he turned towards the woman. "Someone's wrath is of no concern to me. Because, one way or another, Karma is a bitch and it'll come back and bite them, it always does." He said with a small smirk on his face as he watched her point back to the inn behind her.
He wasn't expecting her to actually know him though... Even if he had made a name for himself in this big town, talking about how he was a thief that would often go to the man that was the higher bidder. So she was simply just going to play his own game. Crossing his arms in front of him, there was no need to keep the cloak on now, she already knows that it was the thief named Oak. A man that was tall, and broad like an oak tree, hence the name of Oak... Something that sort of just stuck with him.
Reaching up he removed the small tie keeping it around him, letting it drop to the ground beside him. "I guess you're correct in that assumption... I am that 'Thief.'" His words were a little hollow, his gig was up after all, so it took all the fun out of this little play that he was doing. Instead, his voice had turned to a slightly icy one, it basically meant he was ready to talk business. Thinking about her offer for a moment he didn't know what exactly she meant by 'company', it didn't look like that type of establishment. "I guess it can't hurt..." He said simply skipping over towards the woman... If there was one thing she'd notice about the distance he closed between them in such a short time, this tall man was fast if anything.

“Naturally, karma will come and throttle every unfaithful fellow that brings himself to light, notwithstanding his desire to repent...” the woman glanced to Vincent, “Vincent, you sorry sap, pull yourself together and clean yourself up! I won’t have you laying around smelling like piss and liquor, what with your reputation as bad as it already is.”
“Sniff... sniff... y-yes, Madame...” the soiled merchant sobbed as he wobbled back onto his feet.
With a sigh, the woman looks up to the tall man before her. “Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, I would like your name, dear. And for both our sakes, you would do well to tell me what it is in full.” art

The chubby merchant that happened to be sobbing simply wobble to his feet, it was true that he reeked of piss and liquor but at the same time... Artimus himself smelt like liquor himself, however that was a ploy to cover his own scent to a degree. Looking at the woman as she took a more serious turn towards Artimus, he couldn't help but smile a little bit, as she asked for him to speak in full of his name. Looking at her for a moment he shook his head side to side as if to dismiss a thought that came to mind.
"Well, you see ma'am that's like a double edge sword... I think it'd be better if you just called me my street name of Oak. That way nothing can really be tied to ya if I do get caught. If you know my name, I'm more likely to turn you in, if you just know me as Oak, well then you can claim in self-defense everyone knows the street name." He was pretty serious about this for the moment, as he seemed to relax ever so slightly around her, perhaps it was for the best in this scenario.
"Sides, I believe it's only fair if the Employer gives their name before striking the deal because depending on how you answer who you are, is how I'm going to reply to you. If you tell me your true name I'll tell ya mine. But I don't think you want that on your mind all the time." He said with a smug little look on his face. "Cause then you'll truly be in cahoots with me, and it won't be pretty business if one of your targets does manage to nab me or something."

For a brief minute, the Madame gave him a rather bland expression, seemingly unamused by his explanation.
“You’re quite a talker for a man who claims to thiefdom,” she said with a dry tone, “Well, I’ll tell you something, Mr. Oak, at the end of all things, the person who will be surprised of being in cahoots with whom will be you.” This she had said with am emphatic press of her finger upon his chest. She turned her body toward him, hands upon her hips, and her head tilting up in such a way that denoted a sense of superiority.
“You will call me Madame,” she spoke with a strong sense of dignity and poise, “Capiche, Mr. Oak?” art

Art just stood there for a moment, watching her for any signs of betrayal, mistrust, or simply anything that could come towards him with a rather opaque view upon their current discussion. However, when she spoke about how much he talked, and his thing for a thiefdom he could only help but chuckle ever so slightly. "Not all thieves are quiet." He stated with a bit of sarcasm, even as she poked his chest and made him move away ever so slightly. He didn't care to express that he didn't exactly care for being touched by people, that'd be a discussion for later.
However, when she said that she would be called Madame, all Art could do was raise his brow ever so slightly, and eventually he'd ask her about what she meant by whom she's in cahoots with. Notes that he was taking mentally but on the outside he merely shrugged towards the woman. "Alright Madame, now that pleasantries are out of the way." His tone seemed to shift ever so slightly, it wasn't icy like it had been, or teasing and or joyful as it had been previously. He was speaking in a manner that almost seemed professional?
"I won't question you in the reason why we're withholding our names. I gave you my answer, as for talking... You requested that we did, so... I obliged." His tone wasn't friendly, nor was it bashful. It almost seemed to be speaking to her on even grounds as he held out a hand towards her, in the hand came to lose a scroll, he hadn't done this with Vincent earlier, but for this moment it was needed. It was a thief's scroll, meant to make the two in a binding of their words. "All ya have to do is place your name and blood, I'll place mine as well. Then the scroll will seal. So no one else can view the contract written between employer, and employee."

Vincent shivered at the sight of the scroll, “A... a thief’s scroll...”
The Madame glanced down at the enchanted parchment, then back to his face. There was no shadow of childishness upon it.
“Not here,” she spoke with a tone most serious. Her eyes glanced to the little merchant, “Vincent, you can navigate yourself to the bathing house, yes?”
“O... of course, Madame,” he answered.
“You saw nothing,” the woman said, “And by your life, you will speak nothing of what you have seen here.”
The merchant nodded his head profusely, “M... may my life be forfeit if this happening e-escapes my lips...” He bowed toward them and wobbled off into the back door of the inn.
The woman glanced back to the thief, “Come, we won’t go through the tavern.” She gestured for him to follow as her dress suddenly became a shade of jade, “You and I are going to have a very important talk.” art

The contract was something moat people where afraid of in this time. It was a forgotten object to most. One that most had disregarded as a legend, or a folk tale, told as a horror story to those that had been younger or more suspectable to such a ghostly thing. Art himself had disregarded the contract as a myth himself. That was until he stumbled into the darkness of thiefdom himself. Vincent face was almost precious to look at.
It was as if the man had seen a ghost himself, it was rather entertaining in the long run, who would of suspected the man to even know what the contract entailed. But by the way he was responding to the scroll, it became written on his face. Proof that he had indeed seen such a contract in his past. However the glee he was getting to see from the wallowing man was cut short by the woman that had claimed herself to be Madame. Scoffing a little bit he awaited for Vincent to leave before nodding to his future employer.
"I suppose that it is a good thing the man fears you. Otherwise it would prove to bea little painful for him in the long run. Because only those signing the contract are suppose to be present, all other witnesses will be dealt with." The way art had said it, wasn't one that was threatening, or even a hint of being angered. She got to see the professional side of the assassin she was about to hire into her services. Instead the voice belonged to an icy realm, one tht had no remorse for anything around it. It was just strictly business like. "I digress lead the way, since you wish not to walkthrough the inn with prying eyes." a small smile on his face now.

The Madame spoke nothing to him, saving her breath until a better time. She blinked a few times as she surveyed the surrounding area and, after confirming they were alone, proceeded to move a little toward the side of the building. A moment later, the skirt of her dress flared out as she bent down, like the webbing stretching between the tentacles of an octopus. If that wasn’t unusual enough for the thief, then in a single, powerful bound she leapt up several dozen feet in the air, pushing a gust of air through the alley, and landing upon the roof of the inn.
“Climb, little thief,” she said as her head bent down, “We’re on the clock!”
The wall before him was covered in multiple small crevices and footholds, sufficient enough for him to climb after her. art

He had followed the woman behind he strange alleyway... At first he just thought that the two of them where imply going to discuss business behind here, well at least that was no longer the case.Because as soon as she made sure that there was no one there to follow them. She seemed to squat down for a brief moment, what was confusing about the situation was that, the air around them began to swirl and shift. At first Art couldn't believe his eyes as the woman's dress had shifted right in front of him.
But then she just simply leapt into the air, leaving behind a gust of wind that almost blew him onto his ass. Shaking his head ever so slightly as she motioned for the boy to follow after her, Art jut couldn't get the fact tht she was able to leap upon the roof like it was childs play. Perhaps she was more mysterious than he was giving her credit for. Without saying anything the man started to climb up with her. It wasn't his first time climbing onto roofs, a few years of practice actually made it easier fr the young man.
He scaled the wall like a spider, leaping from one crevice to the other, without so muh as missing a heartbeat. It took him probably a good thirty seconds to scale the full building, pretty quick for the way it was designed, and not too many footholds for him to hold upon, or to place his feet. Coming to a stop right behind her as he finally reached the roof, he seemed to look around for a moment, he could still see the busy streets, ad the multiple nobles surrounding it. With a small shake of his head, they weren't even paying attention to people on the roofs, they had all been too busy checking to see, if there was a pickpocket amongst the crowds. Looking back to Madame, all Art did was nod hi head, to let her know that she could continue.
As far as he was concerned he was on the clock now, and when you're on the clock it was important to get the task done. All the idle chit chat from before had left the man, a sign that perhaps he was a little more mature than he had left the impression of earlier, it was handy when people tried to question about him, they'd always get the same response that he was a rather laid back and cheerful man... Little to none had actually seen him when it finally came down to business.

She figured him as agile, but to see it herself was far more convincing, not to mention amusing. He was like a monkey, hopping here and there to reach her!
“Bravo, my dear, bravo,” the Madame quietly and daintily applauded him, “It may not be the most elaborate obstacle course, but the point is across!” She proceeded to walk down the wide rooftop, but not before turning to face him once more. Her hands extended toward her sides, eyes still locked onto his, “Look around you, dear. Plenty of room to move about, no? What could he say, it appeared as if they where having a nice little chat, about his little contract moments ago, then suddenly they where climbing rooftops together. At first it seemed that it was just some childs play, especially when the woman began to clap her hands, and tell him bravo. It was almost like she was trying to ridicule him for the time being.. Perhaps he should wash his hands of her after all, if she wasn't taking this deal seriously, then why should he take it seriously himself? Well regardless of the situation it was probably better for him to simply walk away at this point.
Then the mood seemed to shift ever so slightly, as she got into a small combat stance, it betrayed her ever so slightly, due to the fact of being in the dress, it didn't seem like she had a lot of experience when it came to fighting, but there was an aura about her that made the mans kin crawl. And the way that she called out for him to try her, he simply raised a brow before placing a hand on his hip. His patience was kind of worn thin from their earlier conversation. It was almost as if she was really trying to push him into a confrontation with her. Letting a small sigh escape his lips, Art simply turned around and began heading towards the side of the building.
"Enough with the mocking Madame, that's what I feel has been happening since the earlier scenario, especially with you grabbing me in a hug. I'm not here to partake in an act of attacking someone without justification, earlier was a false justification, and it was proven wrong. Yet here you are, trying to get me to attack you without a reason at all. I'm sorry but it's not happening." He was done with this merry band of people he had run into, it seemed like it was just trying to test his patience, and make a running gag of a thief that was tricked into a ungodly annoying situation and then used as a play toy for a young mistress that had literally nothing better to do, He thought she actually had a proposition for him.
