Personality:
Quiet and Aloof, Kasumi tends to have a mysterious feel to those that don't know her. Those that spend some time with her will notice a hardworking and gentle personality. While she doesn't speak a lot she tends to want the best for all parties involved. She's also very dutiful, both to her work and her kingdom. Though this doesn't mean she automatically hates any other countries. She's rather weak willed, and breaks easily under pressure. She also sees it as her greatest duty to heal everyone except people that could be directly dangerous to her, sometimes even extending to surrendered enemies.
She knows the story of her parents despite having no real memory of them since she was but an infant before they came to the monastery. She's still thankful that her parents never abandoned her, since it would have made their life much easier. She feels a little guilty that she caused her parents so much trouble, but realizes this was their choice and Kasumi herself couldn't change anything about it. It also helps it all turned out well in the end.
For all her serene demeanor there is one thing that surprises people a lot. She's not really smart. She's rather wise and practical but on from an academic point of view she could really learn a lot. Most people think such a diligent person would be studying a lot but she doesn't like books let alone study from them. She has some basic education but other that that she's not to bright.
Biography: Kasumi was born in an already poor family in Hoshido. Her parents weren't very skillful, smart or strong and so had to struggle to maintain an job. In the end this didn't work out and with another mouth the feed only made them more desperate. Eventually they lost their already modest house and only could survive by stealing food. With Hoshido's otherwise low crime rate it didn't take long before they were caught. Luckily the rules noticed their hardship, instead of punishment they were send to a monastery to work with the priests near the border with Nohr in the southwest.
It was strange at first, they lived in modest clothes and in a modest room, but they never were hungry thanks to the hard work of the monasteries inhabitants, which included them from now on. They didn't have much, but all they needed was provided by their own hand. The last tiny bits like clothes were leftovers traded with nearby villages. It was hard and the times they didn't spend working were spend in praying, silence and the occasional festival. Since there was no real treat from Nohr and Hoshido itself was peaceful there was no real danger. Though a few guards were always present just in case. Kasumi actually liked the place very much, but she couldn't really help her own curiosity with what was behind it all, both over the mountains in the west and over the plains in the east, having no real memories of the capital herself.
Over they year those thoughts diminished more as she grew older and had accepted her place as a shrine maiden in the monastery. With queen Mikoto's death however, the peace all over the world was in question and peril. Would her peaceful life remain, or would the war find it's way to her?
