About
Profession: Shrine Maiden and Priestess of Soten
Alliance: Hoshido
Hometown: Soten
Likes: Mochi Ice Cream, Drawing, and Swimming
Dislikes: "Short Sighted" People and Knights
Personality:
Generally, Ran is very sweet to almost everyone who comes her way. She cares for them, feeds them, and even lets them pray with her in her temple so long as she doesn't get upset by their actions or words. She pretty much is open to trusting anyone save people who pick on her small size or claim to be knights of Nohr or any other country hoping to bring change. On her days off from praying she usually can be found drawing or writing even though both activities are something she isn't great at. She gets along well with her sisters but doesn't like to see them too often because of how similar they are yet different in height they are.
Biography:
Ran is a sibling of three other twins who look exactly like her save for the fact she's the runt of the family. Her mother and father lived in a fishing village called Maki along the coast. It was invaded though by Nohrians nights who had crossed the sea, and therefore, burned. Her newly expecting parents ran inland towards the Bottomless Canyon fearing the capital, Sagishira Castle, had somehow gotten attacked if knights were suddenly appearing in their village. The couple was hounded for days and when they got near what they thought might be a Hoshidan outpost inside the canyon they slipped on the cliffs and fell hundreds of feet into a Deep Realm.
When they came to they were amazingly alive, however, could find no way out. Their pursuers though had no way in and considered them dead from the fall. The couple, seeing no way out, had only one choice and that was to survive their predicament. They lived there three years and in that time Ran and her sisters were quickly born and raised into adulthood by the odd effects of the realm's time differential and their parents' quick need to adapt to this odd situation. Eventually a group of Hoshidan soldiers found them three years later all by accident but at this point nine year old Ran did not know what to think.
Her parents told them all they would be going back to, "Civilization," but that word meant little to the young girl. Her only "Civilization" was her family. The soldiers urged them to leave and for that reason Ran ended up spending the rest of her life growing up like a normal... Wrong!
Apparently the soldiers wanted them to leave for they heard people who lived in Deep Realms absorbed their powers and good vibes. Ran never felt this way but had always noticed an odd diamond shaped marking on her forehead. It was just a birth mark but she thought it might be something special considering beyond her siblings' height differences this was one other thing that could tell them apart. It meant something to the Hosidan soldiers who took them with her too and gave the rest of her family and her separate housing in a mountainous village called Soten near Nohr's border. It was a holy village considered good place to commune with ancient magics for healing.
Ran learned to use this magic resulting in her becoming a proper shrine maiden. She was among many though who learned the same thing making her lose her perceived greatness. They just saw her eventually as a short yet kind shrine maiden and she became fine with that since she saw herself still as special and wanted to continue to make people happy as long as they did not make her mad. Nothing was worth more to her then helping heal people. In her free time, to avoid being seen often and receiving bad rep., she stayed within the temple, took to writing and drawing and intended to talk very little with her folks despite living near each other in the same village. When war broke out though between Nohr and Hoshido she was made to go to the front lines to help soldiers there. She lives and communes with other shrine maidens who have been brought into the war for the same purpose.
