As Asinine rolled his way out of a rather large temple, he couldn't help but find himself intensely annoyed. He scheduled a meeting, months in advance, to converse with a person who resides there, however they were busy? This incredibly so bothered him, as the man he was to meet with, suggested to come again tomorrow. That meant he had to attempt to, 'kill time', until then.
His eyes rolled, the idea of staying here for any extended period of time, disgusted him. He glanced around the streets, with a blank expression, as he just stopped where he was. He was getting really sick of all this, having to go through unordinary... No... Horribly unusual forms of torture, to gather knowledge.
He just wanted to go home. There was no point to this, at least none that appealed to him. If only he could just... Just play with his dolls.
It never ceased to amazed Cas just how pretty- and big- the capital city was. She could spend hours walking through the streets and admiring the temples and rivers that flowed throughout Shirasagi, but sadly that would have to be saved for another day. Or, at least later in this day. She was suppose to be meeting someone here for a trade. There was still plenty of time until they were suppose to meet, however, so it seemed only natural to waste the remaining hour or two by taking a stroll through the area.
Not much had changed since the last time she had visited. Of course she was still a child the last time she was here and her memory of the city was hazy, but she digresses. The pack she carried, which contained the goods she was to trade, swung slightly with the movement of her arm. It would have been better to carry it with both arms or even hold it to her chest. The thought had come too late as the pack had already connected with something. The contents of the pack weren’t heavy, and by no means was she swinging it hard enough to knock something or someone over, but a bump was a bump.
Cas quickly lifted the bag up and held it close as apology after apology spilled out. The thing the pack had bumped was a shoulder of someone who looked too familiar. She stopped mid-sentence and blinked. It took her only a few second to register where she had seen the young man before, then it hit her.
“Oh, it’s you again.” Cas said, making no attempt to hide the surprised tone in her voice.
The young man seemed unfazed by the bump, at most he figured it was an idiot, who couldn't just keep to themselves. When he noticed the herbalist from before, his assumption did not waver. He briefly contemplated if he forgot her name... Yes he would commonly forget names he held no importance to, but as he thought back to that encounter, he couldn't recall ever introducing himself. Not that it mattered.
"Yes, it's me again." He stated ever so blankly, as he rested his elbow on the arm of his chair, cupping his face in his hand. He sighed a bit loudly, "I had a meeting here today, however some idiot clearly can't keep track of his appointments... What are you doing here? I don't recall your establishment being centered in Shirasagi."
Despite his general apathetic-ness, there was a slightly grumpy feel to his words.
"I'm here for a trade. Seedlings for seedlings, Extracts and tinctures for Spagyric remedies. I arrived earlier than expected, however, so now I have some open time before the trade takes place." Cas explained while feeling the outside of her pack for any breaks or overturned sprouts. Thankfully, she felt none of these things. She breathed a sigh of relief then turned all of her attention to the man. He didn't look much better than the last time she saw him, still as grumpy looking and uninterested sounding as before. Which reminded her...
"Did the tea help at all? I've been testing new remedies if you still need the boost. None of them in the form of tea this time." After his reaction to the tea Cas thought it beneficial to try testing out new forms for the medicine to be taken. Tea, as she learned on that day, wasn’t as easy to hold down for others as it was for her.
Asinine looked blankly at the maiden, as she spoke, absorbing the information, but displaying no proper techniques to look anything more than zoned out. This person was very different from him, she had a different outlook on life, and in his eyes, it seemed as though she was happy with her life. Though such a possibility didn't matter, well shouldn't matter to him. "Hm." He didn't even say a word follow up on her things she was doing, his rudeness quite clear.
"Not as much as my usual Nohrian medications." He stated in a blunt tone, as he robotically fidgeted with the cape that draped over him. "Hopefully your future concoctions have a less putrid taste." It seemed like a sentence that a normal person would sneer while saying, yet he said it as though there was nothing to it.
"My meeting? Hm... I don't believe I cared enough to ask my father..." He mumbled, as a hand scratched at his forehead. "Regardless... It was today... Unfortunately due to the man's inability to keep appointments, I have to waste a day in this dreaded place..."
Cas was beginning to think that the only expressions this man was capable of were those on the solemn side. Did he ever smile? Or make any other facial expression? Looking back into her memory, even his expression of illness wasn't very expressive. How curious. Plenty of people, including herself, go days without being expressive. The young man in front of her looked like he had gone longer than a few days without cracking his mask. What must it be like to be so serious of a person?
She gave a short hum as her response. She couldn't imagine Nohr coming up with such effective medicine, but what did she know? Perhaps they were far more advanced in that area than she believed. There could be something to learn from them if that were the case. The hard words caused her to laugh nervously. The man's straight face and the ease of the word's delivery had confused her. There was no reason for the confusion really, there were no hidden messages or anything of the sort. Maybe it was the overall bluntness of the young man. "Hopefully they do."
"No matter, I apologize for your unfavorable situation." Cas wanted to question why on earth he came for a meeting he had no knowledge about. It was laughable, and she fought hard to keep her face from showing signs of it, but bringing it up to the young man made her feel uneasy. "How do you intend to pass the time?"
Asinine shifted lightly in his chair, as he glanced downward. He desperately wished he could be free from his bothersome duties. "It can't be helped." He responded to her apology, as he looked upward again, as he rested his head against his hand. Her inquiry caused him to think for a bit. While usually his responses were shift, he couldn't think of anything to say.
"I'll probably get a room at the inn, and just... Wait." He mumbled, the thought bothering him. He was capable of staring into space, and doing nothing for long periods of time, regardless off how aggravating an action that would be. "Since my plans are clearly meaningless, did you have plans, for before your trade?" His voice didn't shift in tone. It was strange to comprehend the fact that others could find ways to enjoy themselves, even in such circumstances.
That would be a long wait, Cas thought. Granted the day was almost halfway done, time moved slow when the mind had nothing to focus on. She had the feeling someone like him would become bored after only a few minutes of it. Seconds even. Then again the young man seemed bored with just about anything and everything, so maybe it wouldn't be much of a change.
"I was going to take a look around the city. Nothing really exciting, but there's a lot to see and it'll help pass the time." She gave a small shrug before adjusting the pack in her arms. "Would you like to join me? It might be a bit more enjoyable than waiting at the inn."
Asinine thought for a moment, as he lowered his hand back into his lap, and looked blankly her way. "I suppose." He stated, the words making it uncertain if he actually thought it'd be a good idea to join, or if he was very reluctant. He was very hard to read, because it was hard to think there was no feelings beneath any of his words, but it sounded as though.
"Hoshidan cities sound dull in theory." He said plainly, as he started rolling his wheelchair to look around.
Another blank delivery. Was there anything that could make him give even the slightest reaction? Cas wanted to say that if he didn’t want to come along, he didn’t have to. It was only suppose to help replace some of the empty time with, hopefully, more pleasant empty time. He was already wheeling himself around to get a better look of the city before she could ask.
“In theory.” She echoed. “Lots of places sound dull in theory but it can be different when one is actually there. Besides, dull is nice sometimes. I assume then cities in Nohr are much more livelier?” The man spoke quite a bit of Nohr. It wasn’t much but what was said led her to believe that he preferred the western kingdom.
The lady's words reached him, and the point she held, actually was decent. He meant dull as a descriptive point, however, he didn't think which was preferable. "Dull is quieter, I suppose." Asinine replied, giving a very slight shrug. "Nohr's architecture is more intricate, I'd say, and there's less greenery. Perhaps preference play a part in this."
He glanced back her way, wondering if she had the intention of following. "You know the way around, correct?"
“Perhaps it does.” Cas agreed. She couldn’t see herself liking a city that was more on architecture based. Having a place like that, with the addition of their lack of plant-life, felt cold to her. Of course those were just her thoughts and, like the man said, preference played a part.
“More or less. It’s been a long time since I’ve been here last so my memory of this place is hazy,” Cas took this as her cue to begin walking, so she did at a slow pace. “But there’s no harm in getting lost. I’ve heard people say that some of the best things can be discovered after losing one’s way.” Whether or not she believed that was left unsaid.
Hazy... He couldn't blame her, fortunately she was gifted with the ability to grow up being as much of a dullard as she so desired. Someone like him was quite different, expected to remember everything after one viewing, from a young age. It'd be fascinating to understand what it was like for someone less like him, and more like her. He doubted her life could be very difficult.
"Perhaps one of the things that might be discovered, is the proper way to find your way around?" He suggested, as he waited temporarily for her to catch up, before continuing to proceed upon his wheelchair. "Finding the quickest path, is the most efficient route, however... As we're just wandering, I suppose that's not the point."
“That’s very possible.” She couldn’t help the small laugh that followed the words. “And you’re correct. The point is to just… look, to put it simply. See all the city has to offer. Well, all that it has to offer in the limit of an hour or two.”
If she had to guess, an hour or two would be enough to see a good part of the city. They could visit some of the district fountains. If she could remember where they were exactly.. She always thought they were a pretty sight. The temples were also something to behold. Of course that was her. Cas felt that it would take something grant to get the young man to show some sign of emotion, let alone admit to finding something impressive. He seemed so unhappy in Hoshido. Unfortunate.
"Hmm..." Asinine brushed some of his hair to the side, as he kept his gaze straight forward, with only one, maybe two quick glances to the side. Such an action would seldom happen, but as the purpose of this walk, was to look around, there could simply be no better thing to do. It seemed quite laidback, the woman's approach to life, he wanted to scoff.
"Well if that's the goal of this, I suppose I'll participate in such a pointless exercise. I have nothing better to do, unfortunately."
He stated, in his overly negative way. He didn't even view this as anything else than a way to waste time. "Do you wander often?"
