The thick crowd seemed to move in on all sides, as the boy walked, an upbeat pace to his motions. The feeling of being just one in the crowd, one of the many, caused the young man to branch off to a little bit less dense a part of the streets. His eyes couldn't help but wander, as a light smile dusted his face.
There was a reason he came to Cyrkensia...
Cute girls of course! The thought made him giddy, as he peeked around, till he was in a decent spot. A number of cute girls were around, and not many men, so he indeed hoped he could attract the attention of such a person.
Taking another step forward, his body went flying flat onto the ground, as he let out a yelp in pain. As a result of this, his face got a bit more scratched up as usual, as well as his hands, and knees. "I-It hurts..." A whine emitted from his grounded body.
Cas didn't enjoy venturing past Izumo. Heck, she didn't even enjoy venturing past her room sometimes! Yet here she was, in the middle of Cyrkensia. Lost and wide-eyed and overwhelmed by the amounts of people. Izumo had great numbers but this port city seemed to be filled with them. She had been there on business, and business was the only thing keeping her there. There was going to be a new shipment of plants and flowers she could use for remedies. Of course she had no idea when the shipment would arrive. That was something she kicked herself in the knee for; coming without knowing if they were actually going to be arriving on this day. She sighed. This was something one of her guardians would do, and Cas put it off for as long as she could but there was no avoiding it anymore.
She waited in an area that wasn't too packed with people. It amazed her to see so many different people in one area. Cas almost got lost in people watching when she heard the sound of something solid hitting the ground and a yelp that was followed by a small whine. The noise startled her more than it should and she looked around, with a hand over her heart, for the source. A boy had fallen flat on the ground. She couldn't help but wince at the sight. There was no way he'd get up without a scrape or two. Or more.. Cas maneuvered her way to the boy and knelt down.
"Are you okay?" //Of course he's not okay, the guy just landed face first into the ground!// "Did you hurt yourself?"
Pushing himself up a bit, his face scrunched up slightly in pain, as he gave a sniffle, his face turning towards the girl. "M-Mhm..." He whimpered lightly, as one of his hand balled into a little fist, and rubbed at his face. His face was a bit reddened, and his palms were kind of scraped up. If one paid close attention, they'd notice a number of the scrapes weren't that new.
"S-Sorry..." He mumbled, he knew that a person who really just got hurt on accident, wouldn't have to apologize for their actions... However his apology was meant to make it seem as though he felt bad for bothering someone with him getting hurt. Of course that wasn't how he felt, but he wanted that to be how it seemed.
"That really hurt..." He mumbled out, as his eyes looked downcast. He gave another sniffle, he hoped this little act would work on this girl. She clearly got concerned when he hurt himself, so he hoped he'd have further luck.
"It looked like it hurt." Cas moved from kneeling to sitting. The boy's face was a little red, almost like he was about to start crying or was embarrassed. Poor thing, apologizing to her for tripping like it caused some great inconvenience. As bad as it may seem, she was happy he fell. She didn't feel so anxious when she had something to do or, in this case, someone to care for. It was at someone's expense and she felt bad, but she was thankful.
"Now now, there's no need to apologize. Can I see your palms? I want to check the scratches and make sure they are too bad." She said gently. Scratches couldn't be that bad, right. Not from a fall like that. If anything, there would be a little blood but nothing serious. Or she hoped it wasn't serious. Cas didn't bring any supplies with her and Cyrkensia was unknown territory. Oh, she hated how quickly she jumped to the worst case scenario.
He nodded his head gently, as she began to speak, his expression pitiful. He made the kind of face you'd expect from a sad little puppy, who had been left out in the cold. He wiped at his eyes with one hand, before rotating his hands forward. There were just a variety of scratches, and he had a bandaid covering one of his thumbs, and another along the edge of his other hand.
"Do they look alright, ma'am?" He said in a light tone, as he glanced at her. He didn't let his glance seem too intense, but he quietly observed Cas. Her clothing was rather plain, but she had pretty features, and it intrigued the boy, to see how someone's eyes could be two different colors.
One of his hands went to rub at his other palm, "It kinda stings..." He whimpered, as he closed his hands back up. "It's probably gonna hurt for a few days... Ow..."
"Yes, I think they look quite alright." Cas reassured with a smile. The scratches on her hands were deep and there had been no blood drawn, but they were a little red from scraping against the rough ground. There had been other scars too. Little white lines here and there, but she paid no mind to them. The band-aids on his thumb and the side of his other hand were worrying. Poor thing was probably so clumsy.
"Looks like we have a little stumblebum here." She laughed lightly, trying to get him to laugh along. She didn't want to see him cry, if only because she was terrible with comforting crying people. He seemed young however, and Cas usually handled younger people better than those in her own age group. "We can find you some water to chill the sting away. Would you like that?"
Harley gave a weak smile at her little joke, before gently nodding his head. "That could be good..." He mumbled as he remained parallel to her, before examining his own hand. If he wasn't already lightly smiling, he'd have been tempted to start, this had to be a pitiful sight to others, which certainly made him a bit happy.
"D'you think it'll help much, miss... Oh, what's your name?" His tone perked up a bit, as he introduced himself, "M'name's Harley!" He tilted his head to the side, and back, as a cute little motion.
"I'm Cas, it's a pleasure to meet you Harley. And yes, I think it would help a whole lot." It was hard for her not to smile even a little at the boy. His head motion was reminiscent of a small animal, and his chipper attitude seemed contagious. She had to push down the urge to pinch his cheek and ruffle his hair.
She stood, brushed her skirts, and offered Harley a hand, "How about we find you some water now. You can stand, right?"
His smile seemed to grow a bit, causing him to look a bit dorky, as he nodded his head, grabbing her hand, to gently reach his feet. Folding his other arm behind his back, he nodded his head, and laughed. "Sure, that'd be great~!" He said with a happy tone.
His hand didn't let go of hers immediately, and if she made no attempt to let go, it would remain that way. Though if she noticed something suspicious, he indeed intended to act innocent. It was so pleasant to have a girl completely buying his falsery!
Despite the confident steps her took, Cas was lost. There were places she could look into and people she could ask but there was something stopping her from doing so. Harley hadn't let go of her hand, something she was thankful for. It kept her grounded. After a few moments of aimlessly walking she paused.
Water was all they needed, right? There was water everywhere. Cas looked at the water gently rolling against stone. The water in Cyrkensia was pretty clean, and the scratches in questions were just that- scratches. It would just rinse of the dust and dirty, calm the redness, that's all. She rolled it over in her head before deciding that there wouldn't be any immediate harmful effects to the boy. She pulled Harley closer to the edge and knelt down.
"I hope you aren't against using sea water. I've thought it over a lot and it shouldn't hurt, since your hands are only scratched and not cut open." Cas spoke nervously as she reached down to cup some of the water.
Harley seemed a bit confused as to why she'd want to use this kind of water, but alas, he could pretend it only caused him more pain. Then she'd feel indebted to him, wouldn't she? He barely held back his giggles, at such a possibility. Maybe he could get her to buy him a stuffed animal, or some new clothes? Or maybe he could make her bring him home, to stay the night?
"Sea water...? Okay ma'am~" He smiled lightly, as he sat beside her, finally letting go of her hand, as he looked up at her, like that of a young child, watching a doctor.
Cas tried not to make the relief so obvious. She waited for Harley to sit down and smiled when she caught a look at him. Goodness, how adorable could he be? A handkerchief was pulled out and placed on top of her skirt. It would be good to have that out to prevent the water dripping onto his clothes. The water in her hands, held slightly away, was cool and clear. She turned to him and spoke seriously.
"You tell me right away if this hurts. We'll get it cleaned off and we can try something else, okay?" It shouldn't hurt. Cas prayed it wouldn't hurt. She couldn't do anything in this town, and causing pain to such an adorable kid would only make her feel more useless. "Bring your hands a little closer please."
"Yes ma'am." He said gently, he pulled his hands forward, palms up. With a sweet and seemingly innocent smile, he looked straight at her, making sure his eyes remained wide, and cute. Being cute was pretty hard work, but getting doted on, made it all worth it, he was happy to be attended to, by the lady. If it was a big burly man, he'd feel different.
"Is this okay?" He tilted his head lightly, as he kept his hands stilled. He giggled lightly, "Thanks so much for helping me... I don't really have anyone else who would..." He took a more somber note, before saying much louder, "I really appreciate it!"
"That's perfect, thank you." He didn't have anyone else? Thinking back Harley wasn't with anyone else when he had fallen. After being hurt surely a kid would want to go back with their parents or siblings, but he hadn't mentioned either. Cas looked to the boy, who had just thanked her kindly and watched with wide-eyed innocence, and wondered what caused him alone like this. No parent in their right mind would abandon such a sweet child, so what happened?
"You're very welcome. If you ever need help again come find me and we'll patch you up right quick, okay?" Cas smiled at Harley before bringing the water over his hands. She made sure the trickle of water was slow, and watched nervously for boy's reaction.
Harley tried to examine the lady a bit, as her focus drew back to his hand. Trying to see any hints of empathy that she might be showing, but when she looked back at him, he acted like he had been looking at his hand. His face tensed up in what seemed to be slight pain, as his hands wobbled ever so lightly.
"O-Okay ma'am!" He chirped out, as he acted like he was trying to hold back tears at the pain. Not that it actually hurt, now what hurt was when he ended up getting open wounds infected. He wasn't really that much of a crybaby, if he was, he wouldn't have gotten hurt in the first place. "Thank you... For your help!"
