GeneralRace: ElfAppearance
Gender: Female
Age: 29
Birthday: January 4Hair Color: Dark auburnAbout
Eye Color: Hazel gold
Height: 6'0" / 183cm
Weight: 157lbs / 71kg
Notable Features: Under each eye are three red dots that taper in size. Her upper lid is always lined with red ink - people believe it is actually a tattoo just like the dots.
Clothing:- dark, short-sleeved bodysuit made of stretch fabric which can be pulled up to also cover the lower half of her face as a sort of mask.
- dark gloves that reach to her biceps. only covers the pointer and thumb.
- a tattered ribbon holds her braid together. dawn is very protective of this ribbon.
- wears a red haori with golden trim (has a few similar looking haori's in her closet but some are missing a sleeve or two) over sleeveless turtleneck, closed and tucked into a dark purple sash around her waist. the inside of the sash has pockets for various poisons.
- a golden cord is tied over the sash with bells attached to the ends.
- red skirt that ends a little above her knees but has a slit on either side that reach her thighs. underneath, there are straps wrapped around her thighs where she keeps her weapons.
- white jikatabi with tactile soles. often wears them like socks with her okobo but can easily run through a forest in just the jikatabi.
- balances on okobo with a dark wooden base and red straps.
Dawn usually wears at least two "layers" at all time – one layer is very traditional (and formal) clothing in respect to her upbringing near the royal family, usually in red and golden colors. This usually consists of the highly impractical okobo, a red haori with golden trim that is closed to look more like a kimono with a purple sash, and a double-slit skirt. Removing the formal layer is intentionally simple. Untying the sash will release the haori and skirt, making them easy to shrug off, while the okobo can simply be kicked away. While Dawn is combat-capable in the full attire (always good to be prepared), it hinders her movements.
The other layer is a dark, formitting outfit that can handle the wear and tear of constant combat. A short-sleeved bodysuit made of stretch material that can be pulled up to cover the lower half of her face, straps along her thighs to hold her weaponry and poisons, and tactile jikatabi that minimize sound and grip well.
Two things Dawn will always have on her person are mementos from her time serving Queen Mikoto. One is a red ribbon, currently used to tie off her braid. It has obviously been with her a long time, tattered and worn out, but Dawn refuses to replace it. The other is a beautiful golden cord with bells attached to the end. Once upon a time, the bells used to ring, but ever since the Queen's death, the clappers have been removed, completely silencing them. Dawn is incredibly protective over these two items.Profession:OtherQueen Mikoto's retainerHoshidan Scout & Apothecary (poison speciality)
Alliance: Hoshido
Hometown: Kohga
Likes: Wood carving. Justice.
Dislikes: Those murdering bastard Nohrians. People that don't keep their word. Explaining or repeating herself. Being touched without permission.
Personality:- functions along a very strict personal code of honor. cares less about societal rules and more about adhering to her own code that she refines through experience and time. her first instinct is always justice > mercy. an eye for an eye, and all that, and a little bit of interest added on top.
- this works the other way around too - hates oweing a debt to anybody and will always try to pay them back in an equal fashion. bought her an apple when she's low on cash? she will buy you two apples - one to pay the favor, the other for taking so long to give you the first.
- incredibly devoted. she's a very territorial person, reacts negatively to any perceived slights against whatever is hers - "her land" "her people" "her beliefs" "her possesions" its all hers dont you dare touch it. these connections are few and far between, so she is extremely protective of them, sometimes to the point of being overbearing.
- hates breaking her word and hates it when others do it too. if you make a promise, you keep it. once you break that trust, dawn will hold that against a person forever, unable to fully trust them with any task. since she hates breaking a promise, she will go to the end's of the earth to fulfill any of her responsibilities - failure to do so will weigh down on her, sending dawn into a spiraling circle of self-hate, blaming herself.
- desperately bottles any of the less tangible emotions that can't be handled through physical means. anger? beat the shit out of something. sadness? get angry and repeat step one. because of this she throws her entire being into any tasks, and they consume her, making her dedicated and hard-working. without a goal to accomplish, dawn gets restless and stressed out, her brain working overtime trying to drown her in a sense of worthlesness.
- treats everybody with caution. her first instinct is everybody is a hostile - though her time serving mikoto has fine-tuned that. dawn usually tries to follow the 'innocent-until-proven-guilty' protocol, treating people with a forced respect despite her instincts. once you falter though, it is hard to get back in dawn's graces.
- the exception to 'innocent until guilty' rule are obvious nohrians and mokushu citizens. in her mind's eyes, that they associate with an entity that have done such evil things automatically makes them irredeemably guilty.
- because of this behavior, dawn often scares people away, projecting a fairly intimidating aura. while she appreciate one's accomplishments, earning dawn's respect or love is a trial of it's own that most don't dare attempt. with her recent loss, it's hard to tell if there will ever be another capable of undertaking that challenge.
- justifies her need for revenge as it being an act of justice...

Biography:- born to a long line of kohga samurais who often would enlist as a retainer to the royal family
- dawn was, like many others, enamoured with queen mikoto and her ideals
- along with some other young, potential retainers, dawn was visiting the hoshido capital to try and prove their potential worth to the royal family. it's during this time kohga is razed to the ground by mokushu.
- very few of the potential retainers stayed - many travelled back home to look for survivors, but dawn stayed thinking that she'd have a better chance of finding any of her loved ones with royal support.
- turns out she didn't need that support. they are all dead. dead forever dead gonegonegone-- the other retainers don't return. it seems mokushu samurai had been looking for the stragglers, had cut down anybody crazy enough to try and help the situation there. kohga was a lost cause.
- desperate from her grief, dawn steps far out of line and tries to appeal directly to the king to get revenge for her people - "attack mokushu! destroy them for their sins!"
- her request is denied. dawn is hurt. lost. furious. how could they do this to her? to her people? there is no time to ponder however, as queen mikoto makes dawn one of her direct retainers - dawn, still young by all standards, young enough to be one of the queen's daughters even.
- it takes her a while to even try to forgive the king... but he dies before she can. all of the anger simmering seems to drain and dawn questions all of her goals, her purpose in life. it is too confusing so she shoves it aside, instead pushing to serve the queen more rigourously.
- dawn's skills with poisons are put to use to aid the villagers, identifying herbs and mixing them into cures. the following years are spent being calmed down by her queen, learning to help instead of hurt. the loss is there but it doesn't hurt nearly as badly because dawn has no time for pain when she's fully devoted to her job.
- when the nohrians sent faceless to counter the queen's barriers, dawn sharpened her blades and killed. at her core she was, is, a fighter. the many years with queen mikoto, the little silly gifts the almost-mother-figure had given her over time... "here, you must wear these bells. you are far too sneaky, belladonna, you might give me a heartattack!" "why... you would look quite beautiful with long hair. must you keep cutting it short?" "yes, it would get in the way," "then here is a ribbon." dawn's admiration grew into a deep respect and love for queen mikoto, pledging her existence to mikoto's wellbeing. a promise to keep the queen safe. and dawn never breaks her promise.
- which is why it hurts oh god it hurts when the queen is killed. the wound is too fresh, too recent, and dawn still suffers nightmares as she recalls the memory far too vividly. the burning rage that had been quelled over the years is lit once more, and this time, there is no loving queen to tame her.
- dawn tries to continue her service as a direct retainer for the royal family, but her need to hurt is too strong. the need to bring justice for mikoto's death, to right the wrongs of this world... how can she protect when all she wants is to hurt? she retires from direct service to the royals and instead decides to work as a scout for the hoshidan army.
- she still wears the bells and the ribbon for her hair. although technically her main job is to make sure the lands around them are safe, to gather necessary herbs and concoct cures and poisons as required... if dawn stumbles upon a nohrian, well, killing them is just a pre-emptive prevention measure to stop them from harming her nation.
