Old Houses, New Blood Kyverian Alto is tasked with providing training to the Bainbridge family. However, it is not the Bainbridge he expects. starring: Kyverian Alto and Brunhilde
The city of Windmire was often subjected to the machinations of the noble houses that rule Nohr. But at the top of it all was King Garon, the man that had survived many plots of subterfuge. As much as Kyverian preferred to remain distant of those of higher station, it was without question that he'd have to pay heed to the fort commander's personal request for the captain's aid. The Bainbridge family required aid, or so the commander had stated. Old debts that were now being called into favor, which meant that valuable assets were moved into play. One such asset was Kyverian Alto, unfortunately.
There the captain stood within the fortress' courtyard, overseeing today's training regimen for the garrison. The fortress was currently training soldiers by the dozens, in preparation to be shipped out for the border forts that sat on the fence of Nohrian territory. Thankfully, the winter chills weren't so cruel on this evening, the soldiers busy running drills and practicing their sword and spearplay at the various directions of the sergeants dispersed through the courtyard. One of the garrison guards makes their way to Kyverian, to speak words with the captain.
"Captain Alto, you've a guest."
A curt nod is offered, the sergeants not paying it any mind, the soldiers themselves too busy to question it. Off the captain goes, making his way to the gate to greet who he thought to be the Bainbridge patriarch.

[attr="class","mary5"]Brunhilde was an odd one. At times, she had the patience to wait for years to begin making her moves. Other times, she had the patience of a spoiled toddler, wanting things to happen quicker than what was normally possible. Now was one of those times. Now that she hda control of her family's resources, she wanted to improve her own personal prowess. She'd spent far too long letting others do things for her, and though she had some skill in the sword, she was woefully inexperienced.
Though she was loathe to admit such, her father was a resourceful man. When you were Nohrian nobility, you had to be, lest you fall behind and be swallowed up in some other noble's political games. In his case, he used his power mostly for monetary gain and to have more control over the court. In Brunhilde's case... well, she'd do that and other things. She wasn't like her father.
She shook her head. He was of no consequence now that he was no longer an obstacle. He was a puppet, to be used to accomplish her will and perhaps even as a bargaining chip should any of the other nobles try to move against her. Virtually every noble would see her dead, but there were plenty still who would see him dead first.
This was none of those cases, however. She'd called upon the favour owed to her by another family; put plainly, she needed an experienced person to train her, and Captain Kyverian Alto seemed like the best alternative. Her father had sent them a letter, but of course, it was by her will. Likely, Captain Alto would be expecting him rather than her. Not that it mattered.
It was a short carriage ride to the fortress, Brunhilde being dropped off at the gates. The guards, seeing her noble bearing, stood at attention. She said nothing, handing them the letter that told them who she was and that the Captain was expecting her. With that, Captain Alto had been summoned.
Not a minute later, the gates would open, revealing the man who would train her. He usually wouldn’t look remarkably imposing, but his armour and posture commanded respect and authority; fitting for a man of his station. He may or may not have been surprised to see that it was not the patriarch, but rather, the heiress before him; she looked quite inoffensive compared to the armoured man. In well-practiced fashion, she would do a curtsy and speak, “Greetings, Captain Alto. I am Brunhilde Bainbridge, heiress of the Bainbridge family. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Trained diplomatic voice on the forefront, with a hint of monotone, she spoke again, “I call upon you so that you may train me. I’ve heard you’re skilled in the sword and considering one of your responsibilities if to ensure the training of your men goes smoothly, I thought it a good idea to have you help me improve my abilities. Is this possible?” Far more direct than most of her standing, but Brunhilde didn’t like wasting time, and beating around the bush was just one way of doing so.

The sight of Brunhilde certainly put a pause in his step. Although he was notified that there'd be the approach of the Bainbridge patriarch, it seemed that there had been either a severe miscalculations or a complete change of plans. In either case, the guarded captain takes a moment to turn away towards the guard that brought him to the gate. A single finger is raised towards the noble woman, to let her know that he required a moment.
"I was told the patriarch would be visiting..." The captain's tone was less than pleased, the guard wincing at the emphasis, his unsubtle glance to Brunhilde as obvious as the snow, "T- The fort commander said patriarch... But, it seems that there was a mis-communication...?" His cold stare remained on the guard, clearly un-impressed with what he was hearing. Kyverian shoos the guard away, turning the full of his attention onto the Bainbridge lass, his posture adjusted as he prepares his words carefully.
"Likewise." He replied, a stiff bow aimed for Brunhilde as he gets to the matter at hand. One glance was all he gave her, from the tip of her boots to the top of her head, before he gave his assessment. "You are untouched by war, that much is certain..." His eyelids lower, his frown shifting from the right side over to the left, "I do not coddle my soldiers, nor shall I coddle you. I won't be overly strict, Lady Bainbridge." The art of the sword required dedication, endurance, and the skill to deftly handle a blade. But such words were best expressed through action, rather than a speech. His attention shifts to the guards, tilting his chin upwards to showcase his approval.
"We may begin your training here or at your estate, lady Bainbridge. I leave the privilege of location to your discretion."
