Northella finally found herself free of Amelia's presence. When she did, she took care to leave in a hurry and scampered off to the farthest reaches of Hoshido she could find. This led her to a bustling little town of Kitsuki where samurai roamed the streets around her and goods were sold at every tent and pavilion she passed. Northella went out of her way, on the way here, to send West a message via a bird she caught, and then waited within the town for him to arrive at a small cafe with tatami mats and low tables spread around at its front entrance. There was a sign that read above this, "Meat Buns, Bounty! Foods & Sweets!" and it was the most inviting if low key place in the area.
She'd leave what little armor and weapons she had in a bag outside the village she hung at a tree in the nearby forest and only enter the town with the everyday clothes she liked to wear. This meant her black tank top, red shorts, and riding boots. With this and her enormous height and muscle growth about twelve ladies in kimonos around her passing the shop as she sat down uttered, "Look at that hideous woman. No modesty at all on that one and by the looks of things she's definitely a Nohrian I bet."
Some in this small entourage whispered back, "No, she could be from another country but... Either way she's got a scary look to her." They'd scamper away especially when Northella glared at them and not another soul dared comment on her. Nothella went about ordering and simply bought tea with the limited amount of gold she had. Hopefully, West would come soon. Her patience and now sudden pining for him in the bottom of her heart was strong after Amelia threatened to put her in jail. She'd done so much for an empire she now abandoned and yet when she came back as a mercenary to help them out just this once they turned her away again.
"He better come..." she told herself noting it had been at least seven to twelve days since she sent the message and every day since then she'd come here, gotten stares, and had occasional trouble due to it.
Northella was a fool, if not an honest fool. To take in a non-VIP Hoshidan prisoner to appease Nohr was a blunder, but for the commanding officer to recognize her criminal status? Double trouble! She may be a half a meat-head, but at the very least she could consider the consequences of such actions?
Oh, well. What's life without a little imprudence?
The wild bird message became a joke among the intelligence officers during the past few days. Who sends an untrained wild bird as a messenger? It's more likely that that kind of bird would follow its instincts to remove the note from itself if nature doesn't otherwise take its course. Laughs aside, the network reported Northella's clear sign that she wanted to come home, and as such, West personally made the trek from the headquarters in Cykrensia. After that, the simple matter of passing Hoshidan security and pressing toward Kitsuki.
He was alone this time--after all, his silly bodyguard was waiting for him there.
West arrived in Kitsuki with little ceremony and a placid smile on his face. He parked himself in an empty spot and pulled a lever to cause the carriage anchor to drop into the ground, then slid thick wedges on the bottom of the wheels to prevent further movement. The elf folded his arms and gave a quick glance around.
"... Kitsuki, eh?" the fellow said to himself as he tugged on his vest, "Very quaint." His arrival was earlier than he had first expected, and with the sun still hovering upon the early hour, a little exploration wouldn't hurt anyone.
After all, there were a few things he wanted to take care of while he was here... Akemi @writer
In the meantime Akemi was making herself useful by taking a small detachment of trainees from their barracks to the training grounds just outside of town. Even though they where recruit she ordered the half a dozen young conscripts to carry all of their gear and weapons in order to get them properly used to march with all that weight on.
The green haired Oni was wearing her combat uniform and carried a hefty metallic club." Sing something, goddammit! " She yelled at the column, eager to listen to whatever they could come up with. A ruck march without a catchy tune was like a sword without a hilt in her opinion.
After a brief moment of muttering the column of sweaty raw recruits began whistling the opening notes of ' Oh field, my field' a traditional Hoshidan army song. Akemi was not opposed to the idea and joined the chorus, singing along with an intensity to match her steps as they continued with their march down the streets.
Northella was stuck in Kitsuki for twelve days on the grounds that she was afraid to move due to her mercenary status, her betrayal of Nohr, and Hoshido's natural hatred of Nohrians thus far since the war began. She'd been able to play it off but someone as big and as strong as her definitely was a clear outlier, a sore thumb really, like Amelia (a real Nohrian) commented to her at Fort Jinya. Therefore, Northella found herself sustaining her bulky yet womanly frame with tea, local vegetables, rice, and the fowl or fish villagers were willing to sell to her. The tea house and cafe she was at was a certain plus to this town.
Sadly, thanks to this Northella began to feel one terrible thing she was afraid of besides what she already knew of Nohrian and Hoshido relations. Her musculature and ultimately her standing as a knight. Without powerful muscles she couldn't use her lance or armor well enough but because she had to eat pitiable morsels instead of fresh, fat pigs, zesty cooked apples or clotted creme with scones Northella could only watch it all wither away. The truth of it all was she had actually over indulged in this stuff in the past and in the span of her week in town found herself slimming down and cutting the fat she thought was part of her overall muscled form. It was astounding fifteen pounds she lost!
That didn't matter though as she cried to herself in front of a tea cup while squatting down and whined, "West... Where are you? This land sickens me and is so hostile. If-if I don't leave soon I'll either have to break some skulls to find real food or become a Faceless monster."
She looked around hoping to see see if he might walk into town or even drag his cart into the place in a rather big spectacle. Yet she did see him across the street and what he was doing was totally not what she hoped for. He was in his usual blue waist coat bending over and putting wheel blocks on his silly cart. "Certainly he could plow it through the civilians here and rescue me in a gallant manner?" She thought, "If he rescued me instead of being a stupid dolt perhaps he'd even get a big replacement vehicle back in Cykrensia or a promotion?"
The Black Market wasn't beyond being paid to kill people. She was pretty sure of that when she heard their rules initially, however, Northella knew West was too much of a putty cat to even ever think of doing this sort of thing. It's kind of what made him lovable as she gazed over to him and his empty-yet-now filled spot. His long legs didn't have far to travel, however, one small problem broke her silent endearment. The fact some large contingent of soldiers was coming by and screaming at the top of their lungs!
"Rice fields!" Northella thought to herself slamming her fists on the table. The force of her strike was so strong the tea cups set out for her literally flipped over and smashed into the wood. She'd have broken the table too though this one was made from strong ironwood. "I don't want to hear another word about rice! It's a vegetable for weaklings!" She fortunately didn't mutter these words aloud yet now a few bystanders stared at her display of strength and kept further away from her. She had yet to notice who led them as they passed by but if she did turn her head and look closely she'd see her former prisoner gallivanting around.
Oh! It seems to be that the soldiers were on their morning march. Their boisterous voices filled the air with such nationalistic pride that the citizens meandering about stood for a moment to acknowledge the passing troop.
Nevertheless, it was at this time that a loud thump resounded in the air a little off to the side. There was Northella, a bit worse for wear! It seems she had to starve for a bit... she has slimmed down dramatically. Indeed, dramatic--she was never the most subtle in any facet of her existence, anyway.
He digressed, it was time to fully notice her presence. The elf quietly slipped into the chair in front of the large woman and folded his fingers together, his expression grim and humorless.
"Hello, Nora," he said with a small frown, "You don't seem very happy to see me." @writer
"I-I'm happy and I'm not happy to see you," Northella stated to him as he sat across from her and seemed to stare at her thinner body frame. "My-my muscles are really showing now cause I'm so hungry and tired of eating rice, but if you happen to have access to a fresh number of fatty foods, ice cream, cake, soup... I will survive."
She clasped her hands together nodding her head to and smiling to try and hide her distaste for the clear frown upon his evil lips. They had promised to return to each other at a later time and tell of what they had seen. That's what Northella remembered yet in her travels getting hit in the head like she had made her forget a lot of the conversation she had one night with him involving a confession, a visitor earlier in the day and other things.
She rubbed her temple then leaned forward and whispered, "A dragon's heart beats poorly. The jar's loose as hell. The fort fell and I almost died but you would never tell." She intended to pass on the fact she had been to Fort Jinya hopefully West remembered their riddle code so he could reteach her it for she was pretty sure meeting that savage Akemi knocked many a screw loose in her head. On top of that, frustration with her as captive and a strange cavalier named Amelia stepping in to call her out as a false Nohrian hung in the back of her mind. Northella really wanted to pound something but she almost caused the table to flip where they sat and when she considered her surroundings her outbursts would be uncalled for. The problem was only rage sat in the bottom of her heart ready to rise up and strangle someone to death.
She didn't want it to be West but she was pretty sure she was sent here by him. West with his sly words urged her to go see the world and because of that she came here. Now she just wanted her soft bed back, to hold her 10 gold sign, and pull a cart in order to rebuild her lost capabilities. She definitely felt she was stronger since when she left, however, this strength did not fit the image she wanted to strike up when she used it. After all, too many people made her a laughable matter right now. WestAkemi
Even amidst the singing it was posible for Akemi to hear some of the peddlers comment about this strange foreign looking woman who was apparently nestling on a café down the road. 'How curious' thought Akemi, well aware that someone that suspicious could be an enemy spy of sorts, albeit a very terrible one if people where already trading rumors around.
At her signal the singing ceased, she had a brief announcement to make. " You guys go right ahead! I'll catch up with you all here in a minute. " She instructed the dozen or so marching men. The armed column continued on their way down the street bidding momentary farewell to their Oni corporal.
Quietly she approached the café, noticing the bizarre looking carriage parked not too far away. She excused herself and immediately saw a fruity looking elf in a blue suit and sitting across him there was a familiar face. That stubborn knightess was here as well of all places. Akemi's blue eyes grew wide, not believing her luck at first. " That bitch! "
Immediately Akemi came up with the realization she could most likely get away with ' disposing' of Northella right here and now. No one would dare to prosecute the Oni, not when she could prove this woman was working for the Nohrian's still operating out of Forth Jinya. Certainly no one in the garrison would get on her case for exposing and killing an spy.
The green haired woman stormed off towards the table where these two sat. Even though she was more than eager to get back with the tall knightess it was rude to interrupt a conversation mid way trough. Even though these Nohrian's where uncivilized savages she didn't have to sink that low.
" Hey! I didn't expect to see your face around these parts ... looks like you aren't as smart as you think you are. " The reality of the situation was that Norhtella had decided to come to the worse possible place to seek shelter. Contrary to her claims Hoshidans where only belligerent towards Nohr due to the simple reason their country was being invaded and their population terrorized on a daily basis by order of the king. Hoshidans certainly had no qualms maintaining diplomatic relationships with the other kingdoms across the land. @writer West
What a poor little knight she was, subsisting off of rice and whatnot! No doubt the Hoshidan cuisine was quite the shocker to her Nohrian tongue! Furthermore, her cryptic message confirmed what had been reported to him within the intelligence network.
Commander Amelia... what a fearsome woman. A foreigner, yet bearing strong military resolve. To stay out of her way was an ideal and most boring prospect, yet her high position gave great benefit. Black Market could always use higher-standing officers in the fold, but this thought will be kept secret for now.
"Well, that's..." West had begun, yet his words were cut short as a Hoshidan soldier suddenly appeared beside them. Her words were cutting and aimed directly at Northella. Wasn't this the woman Nora had taken prisoner?
This wasn't a matter of stumbling upon the hornet's nest, but rather that he didn't realize that he was already sitting in it. What a fool! Couldn't Nora have been a touch more thoughtful with their meeting place? Ah, but how could she had known that her prisoner was stationed in this place? Perhaps this was her just deserts for touching what should not have been touched.
No, no, that wasn't the best thinking. This wasn't the time to abandon his silly yet beloved colleague.
The situation called for some delicacy. For now, he'll have to play the intelligent fool.
"Now hold on here," spoke the elf with a quaint raise of his finger, "What seems to be the matter? To be insulting another woman's intellect is no small thing!" Akemi @writer
"West, thanks for defending me, but I'll handle this stranger." Northella announced rising from her seat and stepping in front of him. The giant woman's shoulders, back, and abominable muscles rippled with power as stood far above the height of their small table and Akemi and stared down at her with anger seething from her black eyes.
She placed her hands on her big hips and uttered to Akemi this lie, "I want you to take this series of vile words back ma'am or we'll have to take this outside the village. I'll throttle you soundly if you don't persist with your actions and turn you into the authorities for disturbing my peace."
She could take her back to Amelia since she had authority in this area to an extent, however, it wouldn't be easy to convince her to retake this prisoner who had clearly escaped, especially since she was sure Amelia promised to torture her well. That promise somehow didn't come to fruition she felt so perhaps in taking her back the Nohrians she defected from would owe them.
She looked back at West and stated, "I don't have my weapon today on me. Go ahead, reach into pockets dear, and go buy me a nice skewering lance to show I mean business." She giggled at the elf and wondered if he might actually go do that. He could easily fetch one from the cart and have it deducted from her salary later but today she wanted to treat him, make him happy and definitely not have this kind of scenario occur during their next set of plans. Northella had caused this on herself though so she figured she might make things right. After all, Northella had yet to tell him she'd captured this woman, had her tortured while re-pretending she was still a Nohrian knight, and then been escorted out by real ones.
"If he doesn't decide to get me my weapon... I can always grab the table or chair behind me and force you to leave with that ma'am." Northella added.
While this man was suspicious at best Akemi decided to ignore him for the time being. He looked unarmed and had more in common with a shady travelling merchant than some sort of spook with a military background.
" Don't you dare pull those stupid pranks with me! " After that heated exchange of blows and subsequent time spent on that cell it was imposible to forget Northella's characteristics. She was only slightly thinner but that face, voice and hair where the same. There where no other women around here who where as tall as she was not to mention she was wearing a similar attire.
" I'll give you ten minutes to get all your weapons and armor on. We'll settle this outside just the two of us. " For the time being there was no need to get anyone else involved in this squabble. After tasting defeat once Akemi wasn't going to let anyone else get in the way of her retribution.
Even someone like her could get in trouble if this ended up causing property damage so she spared the café owner the trouble of fixing the mess that would most likely ensue. The idea of raising the alarm so the whole Kitsuki garrison could be mobilized was an attractive proposition in case things went sour. For the time being the Oni would be more than happy to get back at this woman and give her a taste of her own bitter medicine.
West wasn't sure if Northella was being bold or just plain dumb. Picking a fight in someone else's country? That's a big, fat, red-marked no-no in his book. The elf wanted to throttle Northella himself for inciting violence like this.
Or... perhaps was this an opportunity for him to see how much she has grown since her time away from him? The thought caused an insidious smirk to grow on his face.
"Dear? Who, me?" West put his hand on his chest with an incredulous expression, "Well, Ms. Knight, if I make a correction, YOU might be the one who will be going in the clinker given that this is actually Hoshidan territory." He folded his arms and turned his face away with his cheeks puffing up, "And I'll keep my hands to myself, thank you very much! I think a battle between two maidens is better off dealt with their own womanpower, hm?" One of his eyes popped open, "A fellow like myself shouldn't intervene, however, I would very much like to see the result of this duel outside of the city walls." That said, he stood up as two gold septims rolled out of his sleeve onto the table, "Shall we?" @writer Akemi
"I'll be in trouble here?" Northella voiced raising an eyebrow at West as he warned her of the circumstances. She frowned at him knowing it was true then let continue speaking about how their battle should go down. He even oddly offered up gold colds as she looked down at his hands. Northella definitely heard Akemi's words about getting ten minutes and nodded at her.
"I'll be waiting outside the village. We'll have our battle of maidens, woman power, or what-not out there. Just know though I've gotten very, very strong. It's likely I'll still beat you into a pulp today so don't go whining or bringing with you any soldiers to back you up. My friend West has agreed not to fight."
The giant woman then started to trudge off as she focused on moving towards the gate of the village and headed directly out it. When she got about two minutes outside the place she found her bag hanging from a tree and quickly pulled out all her garments and armor needed for combat. She'd slap then on then walk back to the village entrance whereupon she'd stand there with her lance positioned in a vertical manner and wait.
"I'm hoping that bimbo comes so I can finish this," Northella growled to herself. "I want to get back to traveling with Wes and maybe drag her with us. She's an annoying, poorly trained warrior but always seems to make a good captive or damsel-in-distress." In just a few moments she knew it would be time to start her battle.
Akemi had already spent part of the morning warming up with the troops so there was no need for her to waste her energy doing so. She knew a spot out of sight in the outskirts of town. All they had to worry about was not being seen by the wandering patrols but there was nothing they could do to minimize that risk.
All the Oni needed to do was ready up a pair of weapons she'd brought with her for this occasion. Akemi found a shady spot under a tree and decided to head there to take a short break and hopefully made up her mind about which one of these blunt, dangerous objects to use.

" You're right on time. Let us begin ... " As expected Northella shown up clad in that thick armor from head to toes. Since time was short Akemi wasn't going to bother on lengthy talks. Instead she employed her efforts in running head on towards the fully geared up woman. Once she got close enough Akemi slowed down in order to spin around that hammer in a sweeping motion against Northella right leg.

Last time her weapon had no chance to even dent that armor so she had to resort to desperate strikes at what she considered to be weak spots. On this battle she could afford to take her time wearing her opponent out.
As Northella and the green-haired warrior prepared themselves, West himself had returned to his carriage to collect a pair of flags, a pair of bolas, and his Mend staff. With the flags, he would act as the referee and call out the winner and loser of a match; with the bolas, he would prevent anyone from escaping, and with the staff, he would be able to heal them both.
With his implements in hand, the elf excitedly dashed toward the battlefield. When he arrived, he dropped the bolas on the floor and held the flags out. Thus he shouted, "Best two out of three! Three matches total with victory at two wins! If you don't like it, too bad!"
The oni fighter had begun her assault, armed with a hammer and vendetta. @writer Akemi
"Oh gosh that looks dangerous!" Northella thought to herself trying to jump back or over it to make sure she didn't die. The weight of the weighted end of the hammer was heavy looking so she figured she only had one chance but to leap over it. Sadly, thanks to her armor's own weight she found she couldn't jump as she needed. Her leg took a power blow and in an instant the giant woman filled with knightliness collapsed to the ground.

"Argh!" Northella screeched in pain. She could feel her leg was likely very bruised or broken from the blow as she watched her right leg's shin guard fall off. "West! Can you get us out of here? I don't think I can fight!"
Though bruised Northella didn't want to raise her weapon to Akemi anymore. She thought she did at first but that was only because the woman had provoked her now she realized the real threat of the Hoshidans and felt that perhaps retreating for now was for the best. She hadn't done any retreating recently but perhaps West might be able to jump in and help her out. She felt more then willing to take a beating though if Akemi didn't want to stop attacking.
