Serena was still low, narrow fingers claiming another arrow, when the dagger flew overhead. Its gleaming blade held the surrounding beasts collective attention, even their hulking leader seemed memorized. Silver punctured one of Mother's eight eyes and the creature scattered back. Stealth forgotten, its massive steps battered the stone beneath them. Monstrous squeals, echoed by the observing children, consumed the tunnel.
The creature drummed across her nest, barreling towards Serena. The seeker had her ratty bow trained on one of its jerking legs. She aimed right for the join, ready to fire, until the spider leaped. Its bulbous body cleared a few inches over Serena's oceanic hair. The bow followed its movements and loosed an arrow from beneath.

Her arrow seemed almost inconsequential. The beast had sized Serena up and she wasn't the danger. Jim was apparently stronger than she had guessed. Seeker forgotten, Mother's seeping teeth were trained for Jim.

Mother's surprising burst of speed left little time to react. Seeping fangs sung into his shoulder, feeling him with their deadly sap. She lifted him off the ground and whipped him back to Serena. The gargantuan blocked their exit.
The battle has begun.
Turn order Jim Serena Mother.. will probably be dead by then.
Regrettably, he had been neither agile nor swift enough to evade the Bael’s bite. The assault left the area numb, his own flesh was being quickly digested by an unknown venom. Even then, it mattered not to him of what effect bore unto him. His goal was simple: to take out his enemy as swiftly as he could. That much he would certainly do. His unburdened arm reached upwards to grasp his weapon and tear downwards.
Jim's speed is over five faster than the mother's!

Wounded flesh began to reconstitute itself. From nothingness, his wounds lessened and lessened until they were absolutely gone. His knife swiped right to remove any blood from it's edge using the sheer force of air bending around it's blade.
The colossal spider thumped against cold stone as it dropped. Its legs twitched for a second as it tried to hold onto life. The children around it showed no sorrow. They watched as their creator went still before turning to the intruders. There was no hissing, no signs of warning. Few simply walked from the cave. Their warden, vanquished. Those that remained retreated into their cavern.
"Feels like a trap." Serena whispered.
Distant skittering left them alone in her lantern's weak resistance. Even in death, the matriarch stood oppressive. Her empty presence dominated the nest's threatening shadows.
"What do you think?" The seeker asked. "Withdraw, or clear them out?"
Toxins destroyed and wounds patched. His body, having restored itself automatically, was as if it was used to the process time and time again. Eyes darted from left to right before settling on his acquaintance. He did not have a reason to retreat from the vile nest of atrocities. At least, not at the time he didn't. Retreating simply was not a viable option for him when any more people could be threatened by the Bael.
"Clear them out." The reply came at ease from his lips. No clearer way present to ensure both the safety of them and the general populous after all.
Jim gripped the hilt of his dagger tightly. The only thing left for him to endure were the numerous other arachnids, albeit of smaller size compared to the spawner.
"We burn the webs them." Serena returned to her dangerous craft project. Cloth wrapped arrows borrowed the lantern's eager fire. Swift hands set the arrow against her bow. "Cover me." The woman said as she sent her flame for the copious webs. They lit within seconds and fresh light added tot he monster's frightened retreat.
The seeker turned, dropping another fire stick into an unseen clutch of eggs. Arachnid fear turned into a hissing chorus. Two of the braver beasts launched from the wall. Its large size, meant nothing when compared against the deceased mother. Serena readied another burning arrow and sent it to another web. Brighter light gave Jim wider knowledge of their area. Another notched arrow drew another beast's attention.
It leaped out, landing feet from her. She loosed the arrow and its flaming pain earned a demented screech. The creature's foremost leg had been pierced. Serena placed a second arrow and ducked under the pouncing beast. It landed behind her and she pressed another arrow through its back leg.
Hisses from left, right and centre travelled throughout the cavern. Though, the Bael were not the only source of it- eggs, webs and smaller arachnids alike were being cooked alive from the flames she set them upon. It disgusted the butler, yet not to a grand degree. There could always have been something worse than simply a few charred spiders in store.
Perhaps this could be counted as cremation for the deceased in this dank cave. Grant did not try to ponder upon the situation too much. Nobody would truly want to die within a hole in the middle of nowhere after all. The least he could do for them was to avenge their deaths.
A prayer by combat.
One nod was made in her direction before he focused his sights on the incoming beasts. Three in total. There was much he could do, but discretion had to be prioritised in this situation. One wrong move could land him into an early grave. A particularly fiery one, at that.
Before he could finish thinking, one of them went on an all out assault on the archer. She handled herself better than prior it seemed, what with the expertly performed dodge followed up by a crippling jab. It gave all the time the young man needed to manoeuvre himself around it and send a simple roundhouse kick diagonally upwards into the creature’s abdomen with moderate effort. Such an assault did little to no damage to a being of it’s stature of course, not that it was his intention. The result of his attack was to send it tumbling forward by a slight distance.
Enough for it to go straight into the every growing fire. A sign that they might want to begin making their exit.
The repulsive scent, backed by the shrieking. It seemed the brood was dying quickly. Those not already burning had lost interest in fighting. Thirty six legs raced for freedom. Growing smoke blurred Serena's vision and her arrow struck nothing but dirt.
“They're getting free!” She announced, though not fully certain Grant was able to hear her over the chorus of wailing death.
Another arrow notched, Serena followed billowing death towards the cave's mouth. Her schizophrenic weapon bounced between scorching targets. Burning lungs welcome fresh air as she burst into the disturbed wilderness. The trio of fleeing beasts rustled through different bushes. She wondered if it was an instinct to seek new breeding grounds, or if they were simply avoiding a fiery death.
“They're getting away.” She said, pointing the obvious. “Should we go after them? We leave this cave and a lot more could wind up getting out.”
The cries were endless and the burning nest left no part of the cave to shadow. What wasn't obscured by noxious poison, exposed few intact arachnids. Some charged for the safe grounds, while others sought safety deeper in the cave. Serena wondered if there was another exit, but wasn't willing to charge back in to find out.
