"What-what did you do?" Northella voiced with concern trying to step towards the front as he attempted to push the door open. The hallway was dark from being dimly lit so she pleaded that he didn't disturb some nasty creatures or something like a dragon. That would be extremely terrible. Legends spoke of the reptiles being terribly powerful, but nobody had seen such a thing in hundreds if not thousands of years. There was always lurking problems though with a cramped hallway with little movement space. She was grateful Grant had unlocked the passage for them this far, however, she hoped it was not all for naught. She didn't want another near corpse experience on her hands since Ethan might still be recovering from the severe wounds he got.
He could stand, that much was certain, but she had yet to see his fluid, active combat motions again and didn't want Deacon to suffer the same fate and become incapable of fighting in a mission as important as this. He was their vanguard and without him around Northella felt a little less brave for he was at least trustworthy and knew a little bit more then her about what he was doing. She'd only been a wall and caravan guard most of her career. Real combat was difficult for her to count on all ten fingers.
A frail plank of wood broke beneath @deacon 's feet. The heavy knight reached out, fruitlessly grasping at the brittle walls. He did little more than scrape dirt and rocks down with him into the punji pit.

12 defense swallows 8 damage. Deacon takes no damage.
Splintered sticks broke against the knight's armor and the fall's only danger was inconvenience. 1-20
"Deacon!" Ethan shouted as he fell to his knees and locked a hand around the knight's thick armor. His grip was less than sure. Cold hands caught between the knight's shoulder plates, drawing blood from the back of Ethan's hand.
"Ugh!" The wanderer pulled his bleeding hand back. "Damn it. Some one help me pull him out."
Gray eyes peeked ahead as he placed an arm under Deacon's pit. Splitting halls must hold further traps and Ethan was pretty sure one was a dead end. He shook his head and pulled at the knight.

“I’m quite alright!” Deacon called to his comrades, “In fact, this shouldn’t be too difficult to get out of…” He was quite thankful for the thickness of his armor, regardless of the weight that it bore down upon his body.
The knight pushed himself off the ground so that he could stand, then proceeded to lift himself out with the help of his comrades. He patted his armor plating down, then faced his allies with his hands on his hips.
“Goodness!” the knight sighed as he stood on his own two feet again, “I’m glad that pit wasn’t any deeper than it was. I suggest we tread lightly.” His eyes rested on Ethan's hand, "Forsooth! You've wounded yourself! Sir Grant, perhaps you can help him?" @writer
“So I shall,” he nodded his head before eying Ethan’s hand. Cut and bruised, yet without having been crushed. If anything, it was merely a minor injury that did not require tremendous levels of energy to heal. Regardless, it was obviously very painful for the man possessing it- he needed to fix that.
Grant sheathed a dagger, bringing a free hand to hold above the warrior’s own. While he did not make contact, channeling his ability alone would do a great deal to the wound. No flashing lights or glimmers this time- only the mending of flesh and alleviating of pain. He drew his weapon back out once the process was complete.
“That should do,” the butler concluded as he turned to the path. “If you have any additional troubles concerning your hand, please feel free to ask.” A finger was raised to the bottom of his chin as he stood deep in thought. “More caution should be advised- perhaps you may test the ground further with the tip of your lance if you so wish, Sir @deacon.”
The stretching hall and its ending split held Ethan's attention. Lantern light probed twin tunnels. His mind ran wild with disastrous possibilities. Prying @deacon free had been easy, but no doubt deeper traps would be more dangerous. "We sure we want to send the knight ahead?" He asked.
A clenched fist bled and until the soothing warmth of mending magic flowed through. The stinging pain was gone. Ethan stretched his fingers, wiggling them about to check their use.
"Uh sure." He answered with a short nod. Already, his soldierly facade was fading. This entire operation, starting with his first room, had gone wrong. He was leaving the wrong impression with everyone of them and in a tunnel full of traps, brigands, and who knows what, this wasn't the type of place Ethan wanted to make mistakes.
"Grant's right." The wanderer said while rolling stiffer shoulders. "Make sure your ground is good. Heavy armor's best to lead. I don't see my jacket stopping any arrows or pikes."

"Ah, yes, good, I should've thought of that earlier!" Deacon exclaimed with a firm nod toward Grant, "Let us proceed, then! Once again, I shall take the forward march with more caution." His arm reached for his lance, and like a heedful blind man began to tap the ground before him. If he remembered correctly, he fell through planks of wood, therefore, if he were to feel any wood, he would stop and see a way around the potential trap.
"Wait-wait, are you sure you boys want to head further then this so willy nilly?" Northella stammered. She was in shock that there were traps in such a tight hallway and stood frozen while Grant went about healing Ethan's cut hand. She couldn't believe the blue haired man was so easily injured all the time, however, she was starting to realize it might be because he was inattentive sometimes. At least that's what she felt.
"I honestly think I should take the lead." Northella commented watching Ethan and Grant in fall behind Deacon once as he prodded the ground with his weapon. "Deacon's fallen in one trap already whose to say he won't fall in another?" She tried to squeeze in next to the big knight but with the hallway getting narrower, and filled with more traps, she soon found herself at the back of the formation behind Grant and Ethan with Deacon at the front.
It was not even five minutes into the dungeon and their plan had already fallen apart. Some reassurance could possibly help.
“That was the original plan, Miss @writer.” The butler stated while he turned back to face the corridor ahead. His voice rang smoothly with stalwart determination. “To repeat- Sir @deacon and yourself in the front, Sir Ethan in the back and I, myself, in the middle to be able to heal all of you.”
Standing at attention, his eyes peeked into the darkness ahead of them. Strange how they built traps in the most awkward of places, any one of their own members could have fallen in at any time. Perhaps this place was not meant to be entered at all.
In any case, they were at his lead. There was not much he could do at the moment besides wait for them to organise themselves and proceed down the hall.
Re-positioning themselves, aware of thinly veiled traps, and guided by heavier units, the small squadron carried on through the confined rat tunnel. With @deacon jabbing his spear into the ground every few steps, further pits were avoided with ease.
The tunnel widened into a small chamber dotted with hanging lanterns. The chamber itself had fairly little in it. Smashed crates lay haphazardly along jagged walls. A bench, run down with neglected age sat between two paths.
The left tunnel stretched on before becoming somewhat jagged. It's fluctuating walls curved away after a short distance.
The right tunnel curved almost immediatel. Whatever it held, was a mystery.
The group must decide a way. They can either split, or continue on as a group with the tunnel with the most votes winning. Ethan may not vote.
"I feel that we must stay together! We cannot risk our personnel to have at danger alone," Deacon exclaimed, "I for one feel the right road is the course we must attempt." He pointed at the right road with his lance, "I stand by my decision and wish to continue forthwith."
The party came to a halt a splitting crossroads section of the building. It now felt more like an underground maze then a structure meant to house people or things. When Deacon started speaking and pointing at the paths they could take Northella stepped forward. He wanted to go right.
"We can't stick together," she told him shaking her head as she plunged the butt of her naginata into the ground. "We'll miss our chance to capture Zhara if he uses our not splitting up as a means to escape. He could very well have the building laced with secret doors, flip a switch and go down a path we haven't traveled at all which means back tracking later. I say we split up and I'll go left with someone."
There was a fire in her eyes that adamantly said she was going to try to do it anyway if nobody agreed with her. There was nothing wrong with going down a path with a jagged curve. Sure, there had been a trap earlier that Deacon and Ethan dealt with and Grant healed them from but so far Northella wasn't finding this whole mission interesting nothing had actually injured her yet so a jagged path like the left one proved to be more a challenge in her mind which ultimately meant treasure or enemies at the end of it. She'd not told anyone yet but she had a treasure key she bought on hand. It came from West's shop, of course, but he wasn't going to miss it. She needed to bring back more than just some gold and a bow for him when this was done.
Having to objectively choose between their methods in exploration was not something he wanted to do at that moment. Being ambushed by the bandits would have been an easier problem to handle for him compared to this.
Northella’s side of the argument stood stalwart. Time was a valuable resource- one that they happened to be running out of quickly. The trap they encountered impeded them even further. Any possibility of running into more pitfalls as a group could run them into complete inefficiency. On the contrary, Deacon’s plan would ensure their safety as a team. Decisions decisions. Their time was limited; he would take the riskier path with a mild compromise.
“Quite the opposite, we can stay together,” the butler looked to Northella. “Nevertheless, I have to agree with you on that front- the period allotted for finding Zhara grows short.” He sheathed his two bronze daggers and lifted his index fingers pointed upwards before his chest. “I would like to accompany Sir Deacon to the right. On the chance that any of us meet that Zhara fellow, please do not murder him.” His right index finger began to waggle lightly. “Incapacitate him with a swift blow to a limb or his head if you must. I imagine the tactician would appreciate him alive.”
Arms passed downwards in returning to his sides. “People tend to be valuable that way- whether you agree with me or not.” After stating his part, he would remain silent. His vote had determined their methods, but he was still very unsure of the outcome.
Northella lead Ethan through the left tunnel. Dirt walls widened, leaving her enough space for her bulky armor to fit easily. Following the same probing technique as Deacon, the two were able to avoid another pitfall. It seemed the bandits lacked creativity in their methods.Winding corridors saw several more traps until the final chamber made itself known.
Pilfered jewels and gold littered the room. A single ladder reveled the exit.
@writer and Ethan each receive 100 gold, one ore of their choosing, and one vulenary.
If anyone had brought a key, they may receive one free heart seal. You must use the key to receive the seal.
