Mai's breathing was laborious as she tried to regain control of her senses. It took her a moment to realize that he was offering her drink, nevertheless she accepted it. She sat up and put both her hands on the vessel, then took a long sip before setting it on her lap.
There were four people in the tavern, two of which had been previously burnt to a crisp, both of which had been personally killed by her. That was hard to swallow, but that was the reality. Best yet, no fellow villagers were harmed in the process, and the only other person who was harmed was an experienced mercenary who could deal with the pain. There were two others that escaped... wasn't that bad? What if they had a boss that they reported to? She paid little attention to their meaningless conversations until recently...
Ah, so many things she should've considered before compulsively attacking. She never imagined the psychological effect to have been so strong.
Deep breaths, Mai.
"Huuuu..." she inhaled, then exhaled, "... aaaaaahhh..." She opened her eyes and looked into the warrior's once more. He was a wonderful person for his selflessness. Had it been any other villager, they would've already abandoned the inn. Fool of a woman, they may say, you shouldn't mettle in the affairs of men! Men of Nohr really are something else.
Her composure renewed, she bowed gently toward him, "Thank you, Leigh-san, for helping me with my selfish request. You've earned room and board... and..." she raised herself, stood back up, then hurried back to the counter, "I'm not familiar with paying for bounties, but I'd consider that one... ah... where did I put my pen..."
