Although they were not completely defenseless, Kyverian was exposed just well enough for nearly any good, clean strike to end him in one blow. But, The Madame had confidence in their strength, even if Kyverian would prefer her to not expose her manakete origins in the streets of Marcarth. He'd simply have to be faster, precise, and on the defensive. Soon enough, the pair make their way into the market area, where nothing of good fortune was sure to await them. A steady hand is kept onto his blade as finally, they enter the northern district.
Stall tents were abundant in the northern area, to mark small spaces of land as designated by the powers to be. But more importantly, they would find that there were eyes upon them. Untrusting eyes, the type of gaze that leered at outsiders from afar, demanding that the two behave themselves as well as forewarning of the hidden dangers that awaited them. Pick pockets, thieves, assassins, outlaws-- There were just too many unsavory characters to count. Even if they weren't all just common bandit or thugs, there were far too many that seemed like it for Kyverian to be at ease. Especially with his torso and head exposed for a sneak attack.
Not too far from the arch way to signify the Northern market borders, Kyverian leads Madame towards one of the tent stalls, currently crowded by several people, all cheering, shouting, and waving around their purses full of money. "Looks like we may have found what you are looking for..." But as to what had truly drawn them to huddle about had yet to be seen. Kyverian pushes his way passed, making sure that the Madame was nestled close, to avoid any uncouth handling of her person.

My, what a crowded little space they ended up in. While she was not a claustrophobic, brushing up against people was more or less discomforting, especially since her skirt was not necessarily a skirt, but wing membrane...
"Mmm...!" the Madame's cheeks puffed up as they pushed into the crowd, "Kyv, you know... if it's THIS crowded, the least we could do was find another point of interest?" That said, she was now pressed up against the young captain, and while it was indeed a gesture of protection, it pulled her uncomfortably close to his face.
Why, she could even feel his breath on her hair.
Oh, for heaven's sake. Nothing can be done, I suppose...
Rather, she'll focus on what it is these fools around them were even doing. Waving gold around over their heads with reckless abandon? Naturally, that would mean that these people were betting on something... but what? If only she were a tad taller, the scene would be easier to parse. Kyverian

Kyverian hadn't noticed how close they had gotten. He had been so busy with making sure she remained close and as inconspicuous as a knight and lady are capable of. The breeze generated by his breathing eventually has him notice, however. There's a moment of hesitation, his face uncertain as to what to make of their close proximity to one another. His lips slowly form to make the words, but before he could speak, another person had interrupted him with their own shouting.
"OH MAN! TOMMEN IS DOWN! HE IS DOWN! STONE REMAINS UNDEFEATED!"
The crowd collectively releases several noises at once. Many of them cheerful noises at acquiring more gold. Many of them were groans, whimpers, and sobbing at losing their gambled coin on what appeared to be a miniature pit-fight with people. Upon pushing another person out of the way so that The Madame may see what Kyverian was seeing, it was now clear just what they had stumbled upon. "A gambling pit for beast battles...." He kept his grumbling between himself and Madame, eyes darting about as the losers change hands their coin. Soon enough, Kyverian gazes upon the center of attention.
It was a grown man, looming over a smaller, weaker male. His posture and domineering stance painted him as something unusual, rare, but most importantly, a threatening stature that reminded Kyverian of a certain group. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but the man reminded him of one of the many tribes. The fiercesome stance, the powerfully built frame, the way his eyes gazed upon the beaten Nohrian man was certainly worrisome. This man, known only as Stone, was definitely not a Nohrian.
"Madame, that man... He's no Nohrian, but he isn't Hoshidan either. At least... I think he isn't..."
Kyverian couldn't quite recall where he remembered seeing such an individual. But, perhaps, Madame would be able to recognize Stone as that of a member of the Fire Tribe.

A mano-o-mano fight pit? How absolutely ordinary of a backwater gambling district. She wouldn't be surprised if this is where some of her mercenaries went to spend their coin, and maybe even participated themselves.
Well, this was far better for her to witness than some boring little table of cards! To hear the smashing together of knuckle against soft flesh and hard bone was somewhat morbidly gratifying...
Kyverian’s words brought her out of thought, his attention upon the large brute by the name of Stone. The suspicions of the captain were on the mark with the man being not of Hoshido, that said, she hadn’t completely explored that side of the world enough to truly pinpoint what he was egging toward.
“Well, I haven’t the foggiest,” she answered him with a shrug of her shoulders, “What is certain is that he looks like he could take a good beating. I wonder just how long he’s actually been at this! Resilient fellow, isn't he?” Given the bruises on the non-native’s body, he may have been in the ring for quite some time.

The fisticuffs was coming to an end, fortunately. Thankfully for The Madame though, there were other places to mingle and spot. Surely, there was more to meet the eye than a simple brawling pit. But Kyverian couldn't help but loiter in the area, staring down the pit fighter from afar. Soon enough, the glare is mutually pinpointed between the two. There was a connection, a bit of history that the both were aware of, but had yet to speak. Soon, Stone is pulled by the arm, to be led away to have his injuries healed. Cuts and bruises, but they paled in comparison to the beaten, crumbled form of the Nohrian man he towered over.
"Let's go." Kyverian commands, rather than ask, yanking upon the Madame's arm around his to pull her away from the crowd and to look elsewhere for entertainment. For a brief moment, there was a look of guilt in his eyes. Kyverian seems to be recalling the man named Stone, the tribal brute that reminded him of skirmish he had engaged so long ago now. A shuddering sigh escapes his lips, eyes closed shut before he eventually turns to his company.
"I apologize... But, that man seems familiar. I don't know why, but he does." There's a lingering silence, one he does not let stay for long as he turns to her with a gentle smile. Kyverian didn't want to seem perturbed by the chance of fate. They were together, her company in his as his bicep flexes around her grasp out of instinctual protection. "Where else do you want to go, hmm?" Hopefully, no one ruined the rare moment in which Kyverian was unarmored from the torso up, helmetless, and smiling in public.

The Madame felt the strong pull of Kyverian’s arm as he led her away out of the crowd. He was never this assertive with her before physically. Was there something the matter? Perhaps this was a sign of familiarity?
The inward question was answered shortly after. What an unusual feeling to recognize an old opponent, even if it may be incorrect!
“Well, ah...” she sighed as she leaned forward and brushed down the skirt of her dress. When she looked back at him, he was smiling again, and not only that, he was smiling without wearing that eyesore of an armor set.
The Madame’s own brief silence followed his question as she simply stared at his ruddy, youthful face, then it took a few seconds to remember that she was in a conversation.
“... I suppose I would like to... mmm...” she seemed to squirm uncharacteristically as she turned her head away to some random passerby’s in the distance. She reached up with her free hand and pushed her loose hair behind her ear, “... Maybe... maybe we can go somewhere to eat? Yes! I’m certain you haven’t had lunch. I’ll treat you for taking me out here, how about that?”

Lunch was the perfect excuse to put the encounter of fates out from his mind. They weren't too far from the border arch way that they had came through. It was, perhaps, the best move to take rather than traverse over to the East side. There's a moment of hesitation again, wary eyes darting around their vicinity, a hand resting over the palm of The Madame as he proceeds at a brisk pace. Out of his armor, he moved with much more grace, a certain type of finesse that couldn't be properly shown while fully encased in armor.
"I shouldn't be worrying you like that." His tone grew cold, losing a majority of the warmth it originally had, "But, you're right. Lunch. Yes, lunch has been absent from my stomach." But the Western district hardly had anything that they'd want. At least, as far as Kyverian could tell from the Madame's sense of style. Away he goes, towards the west arch way, eyes on the look out for any trouble that may strive to get close to cause them any amount of stress.
"Where would you prefer to eat? I've never been too picky when it comes to food."

Worry her? There was nothing for her to fret over as far as his own skeletons were concerned. No, no, no! That was something she already established earlier in her mind. Rather, her concern lay in the way he started to treat her with all this... tugging and pulling about!
The Madame had nearly regained her composure, that is, before the captain took her hand and started leading her along again. Her face began to flush, her cheeks swelling in mild irritation at his quietly assertive body language. He seemed focused on protecting them that it felt as if he was still on-duty!
“Now, just one second, my plum-haired chum!” Her face wore a flustered visage and she spoke with a tone that was less than endearing, “Give me a second to get my bearings, will you? You seem to be in a big hurry to go here and there!” Kyverian

Was he always so protective? At times, even Kyverian doesn't know or even notice. But The Madame was not wrong in the regard that he needed to slow down. The domineering had to come to an end, before Kyverian accidentally made things far more awkward than they needed to be. Eventually, the madame is able to coax the captain into standing down, his shoulders sagging as his head hangs forward with a sigh. He'd relent in his pursuit to head no where important.
"Okay." He spoke up, back straightening as he eventually turns to face his companion. "I suppose we're far enough from that man now." Eventually, his eyes return back to the madame, a nod given in her direction before he speaks once more. "You may lead, since my pacing can make things somewhat uncomfortable."

As the captain finally eased, the Madame loosed her arm from his and whipped it on her side to relax her muscle, her lips pursed all the while.
“Hmph, it seems you’ve got some explaining to do, mister,” she huffed as she seized his hand once again. Her grip was tight, as if holding onto a child. “I digress. Food.”
Her head turned this way and that, moving with an unhurried pace whilst craning her neck to see above the populace before her. Eventually, her shoulders raised slightly, signifying that she had found something of interest.
“This way,” she murmured, pushing through the crowd with a renewed vigor.
When they would finally reach their destination, they would be standing before a small food stall, with a humble little old man selling a type of sausage wrapped in a cake that was cooked on a pan. The food was hand carried, and while simple, its eating hand-held style was short of elegant.
Noticing the two come up, the old man smiled and nodded to them. “Veener,” he said with a heavy accent, “Eez veery good! Eez vun gold, vun veener!”
“I’ll take four!” the Madame offered, she turned to the captain, “Kyv, how many do you want? Don’t be shy.” Kyverian

To be led around like a lost child was certainly something. But, he did allow her to lead, it was only fair that he'd be treated somewhat similar given that he had done so much dragging around. "Later." That was all Kyverian had to say on the subject that The Madame had brought up. Soon enough, they're led over to a small stall, a food cart that was certainly peculiar among the other avenues to purchase food from. His eyes dart over to the Madame, a thin smile upon his face. "Ah, two for me and two for-" But the four was specifically for her.
Whether she realized it or not, Kyverian felt somewhat challenged, as if she expected him to pick only one or two. Instead, he decided to do the only thing that felt right in the moment. A hand reaches into his coin bag, pulling out a handful of coins and slapping them onto the cart, his gaze turned briefly to her before back to the old man.
"I'll take six."
Today had him hungry, it was now time to eat as much as he could.

He was getting... six? And she was being modest with him!
“I hate to trouble you, Herr Veneer,” the Madame spoke to the vendor, “I’ll take it up to ten. I’m a rather starving woman.”
The old man’s brows raised upward and chuckled warmly, “You do me gut!”
The Madame’s eyes leered tauntingly at Kyverian, blatantly betraying her competitive nature. She would not lose in quantity, let alone allow him to outdo her. While she may appear as a lady, she is still, without a doubt, a dragon with competitive pride.

Ten seemed like a tall order for her to eat, but The Madame was not like the other women he had understood in and around Nohr. An eyebrow is raised before he returns to the vendor, holding up four more fingers. One could easily mistake that for him lowering his order, but his words betray the intention of his hands.
"Fourteen more. All this marching has me starved."
His verdant gaze flickers back to the Madame, anticipating her next order. Even though they were suppose to be relaxing and enjoying the company of one another, they had already begun entering a competition. One the Nohrian captain refused to lose.
"I guess a woman such as yourself needs to eat too. But, I shall have to simply eat more."

“You’re quite a glutton,” the Madame laughed, she began winding back her hand to present a higher number.
Yet, just as she was about to raise the number of veneers, the old man’s eyes began to betray a look of sorrow.
Was he being overworked at this point? Was there even enough supply for what they were attempting? Surely if she had gone so far as to purchase every available veneer, would that cause them to look rather... frivolous?
No, no, she had to hold back. He was still cooking their first order, after all, and he only had one little pan to do business with.
Her hand dropped to her side, “... Herr Veneer, I changed my mind, I’ll take two only.”
There was a glint of joy in the old man’s eyes, yet he asked, “You are sure, fraulein?”
“Positive,” she winked at the captain, “But the next fifty purchases are on me.” She produced a large sack of gold from her dress and placed it next to his feet, “Be a dear and buy a larger stand with more cookware, and hire some more helpers while you’re at it. That way we can play this game without hurting the neighborhood, right, Kyv?”Kyverian

Being called a glutton brought color of embarrassment to his face, wincing slightly at The Madame and her comment. "You're one to talk... You started this!" A growing Nohrian male needed all he could eat. The only problem was that Kyverian had done all the growing he could. However, lugging armor around as well as an iron sword did work up quite an appetite as he eventually concedes on the veneer eating contest being put on hold, for now.
With crossed arms, the captain nods. "I shall settle for just two as well. Hopefully, her business allows you time to upgrade."
The transaction was sure to boost the stall's popularity, given the amount of attention the two were giving it, as well as their desire to purchase so many in so short a time, for no other reason but to see who had the bigger appetite. The sack of gold at his feet is given a quick glance as he kneels to pick it up, graciously handing it over to the stall owner for the Madame.
"Make that hundred." He commented with another nod, taking a moment to stare in her direction. Soon enough, he returns the wink, but lacking the subtly that she had. But his attention soon returns back to the chef, watching to see just how he cooked the veneer in question. A curious palm reaches up to his chin, grabbing a hold of it as he glances back to his companion.
"I hope you know of a nice spot to eat. I'd rather not stand and eat it in so crowded a place."
